What's great about it: Records very well, when watching recording the volume is great and so is the video
What's not so great: nothing to complain about
I bought this video camera about 6 months ago. It works very well and i use it alot and I still havent had to change the batteries at all. I took it to Disney World with me in December and recorded parades and rides and alot of other stuff. The sound turned out very clear and so did the video. It didnt take to long it plug it into the computer and load everything on it to save the videos. I have had a good experience with this video camera and would recommend this product to anyone who asked.

What's great about it: It gets the job done, good quality and sound is amazing in high sound conditions. A MUST BUY!
What's not so great: NONE
The Flip is great. It so simple to use and the quality of video and sound is great for the price. Even though it takes batteries, it didnt die on me last night. I use it to document when I dj and it was perfect. I cant wait to use the software and start making youtube footage. THANKS FLIP!

What's great about it: It is very easy to use, my 5 year old can set it up
What's not so great: not enough memory, microphone weak, versatility lacking
My husband bought this for himself and our family for using to document our boy's growing up. IF we are close to home, where i can upload the vid's that's fine. but when we go out of town, there is just no way it works. How can you decide ahead of time which hour, out of 4 days or a week, that you want to record?
The microphone will pick up the slightest sound right next to the camera, but you have to really be yelling if you are more than 4 feet away.
It's a perfect camera for my kids and for somebody just looking to record some random pieces for YouTube or something. It is very easy to use, which is likely why my hubby bought it. I guess i would say this is a beginners video camera; get their feet wet but you have to grow from here.

I would not recommend this to anyone! Ever! This camera can fall just about 4 inches and it will turn off, sometimes when you press record it automatically shuts off. Sometimes it will say it is recording but not. Sometimes when you turn it on you see nothing but static...

We searched all little video cameras like this and read all the reviews. We were a bit scared because of some of the reviews but decided this was the best out of all of em in this price range. Well... It is a great little gadget to have for videos on the go! It works as it says it does!
No, there is no light but if you research you knew that and didn't expect it to work in dark conditions. I tried it at night and honestly as long as there is some back light you can still see! It worked better than I expected after reading reviews.
The zoom does make it a little grainy, but, I knew that when I bought it also and it works as expected.
The software did not want to load when I plugged it into my computer, but I knew my computer was not the 2.0 ghz processor as recommended. I just went to the website and downloaded it straight from there iinstead of off the camera and it works perfectly! I plugged camera iin after I did this thru website and it update my camera with no problems! It even adds the software to your computer this way! (others complain it did not put it on their computer, well it did mine when I downloaded from website.)
People have complained about the sound quality. Well, I had it out on a wreck and I could hear clearly everyone talking and even heard the accident victim in the car! Sounds works just fine.
Uploads to MySpace and Youtube without complications!
Picture quality is clear and steady!
If your looking for a camera with the long zoom and hours of recording then you need to go out and buy you a $400 camera. Don't expect to get professional pictures from this camera, which does not claim to do all that anyway! Not fair to give a bad review to a product that clearly states its not capable of doiing certain things yet you purchase it anyway expecting it to do more than it states.
I would definately recommend this to anyone who wants to have a video camera they can take anywhere with them in their pocket. No more saying "I sure wish I had a camera for that" cuz you will have it!

What's great about it: easy to use, difficult to screw up
What's not so great: small memory, lack of card slot
I needed a recorder I could use -- without six million buttons. I also wanted something portable that would fit in my pocket. I feared lousy picture quality, but the video looks good on my computer.
Cons? 1. I don't like that it beeps when it turns on. 2. Connecting it to my computer is awkward, and I fear snapping off the USB connection by mistake. 3. Recording time is very limited (60 minutes) with no way to increase it with an SD card or whatever.
If you want to record video easily, using a device with one big button and excellent portability, the flip should work well for you.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's not so great: Not able to add memory, no light for night filming.
We just bought this camcorder for our 5 year old son. He loves it! Very easy to use. You just pop in the batteries (included), turn it on, push the red record button. Easy! This camcorder has very good video and audio during playback. It does not have a light for filming at night, but it does pretty good in low-light situations. You just connect it to you USB port on your computer and it downloads the software (one time) and you can watch and edit videos. You can even add music and burn to a DVD..we haven't done that yet. You get 60 minutes of recording...then you have to upload it to your computer. So, if you're on vacation, you'll need to bring your laptop to upload your videos. Other than that, this is a good quality, very simple camcorder! We are very pleased with ours!

Thought that I had found a god deal until I tried to install the software that came with the unit. Was never able to get it working correctly. I kept receive an error when I connected the device to the computer. Tried upgrading with no luck. The customer service was no help. Do a search using "flip video problems" first - many people have the same problem.

What's great about it: How great the sound is and what good picture quality in low light
What's not so great: no pause or fast forward or rewind... or easy delete button
My JVC broke after 8 years and I was missing my babies milestones. For being an avid video camera user i needed something cheap and fast...
I used this at my school for media production and i liked the sound quality and picture quality. In owning the Flip i realized that i would rather have the option to pause and rewind... also to delete a video you have to go through every single one to do so. That is annoying for me. It would be nice to have a delete all option but they dont. I just have had this for a week and have gotten some good use out of it. I like it but i will be taking it back for the Flip Mino which has the pause and rewind functions on it. I would say GET THIS FLIP for sure but in the MINO version unless you have no care to pause and such.

What's not so great: Grainy at max zoom. White model stains and blemishes easily.
White finish was permanently stained by the black cleaning bag and otherwise tarnished easily. It works fine and I am happy w/ the performance especially on trips w/ kids. Easy to fire up and get quality video.

I bought this because of price. I really didn't believe it would be easy to use and provide great quality. BUT IT WAS!! Within minutes of opening the box, I was recording and playing back. It did take me a while to figure out how to get it onto a DVD for playback on DVD players. I needed a different software program. But for putting on the computer or just viewing and watching on TV, it is great. As I am writing this, I still can't believe how easy it is. And we are still using the same batteries so they last a long time. We leave the camera on the table and when we go anywhere we take it with us. Just tuck it in a pocket and it is there for any special moments. If we want to save it, we put it on the computer. If we want to share it, we upload it to YouTube. If we want to just look at it, we plug it into the TV and then delete it. SO EASY!!! In fact, I am buying them for my whole family for Christmas this year.

My daughters got these video cameras as gifts for Christmas and haven't stopped using them since. They have had more fun with these than any gift they've ever had! The cameras are super easy to use, with lots of fun features and the memory actually holds alot of video before it needs to be unloaded. As far as battery life, it lasts along time and you just pop in a couple of AA batteries when it's time for fresh ones. My girls are constantly making fun movies and editing them with these cameras. Best gifts ever!

What's great about it: small, compact video recorder with no tapes or disks needed
What's not so great: only 60 minutes of recording time
this flip video is great. it uses regular AA bateries and no tapes or disks, it has a 60 minute storage on its flash drive and can plug into a computer direstly or plug into your tv with supplied cables.
granted its not professional quality but its not made to be . its made to be portable and fun for anyone to use, and that it is. its so compact it can fit into a pocket of cellphone sized case.
if you want something portable, and easy to use for anyone then this is the vidoe camera for you.
