There are many things you'll read about the 360 while researching which console to buy. After a year and a half of hands on the 360 has run almost flawlessly for me minus a few game freezes that you'll encounter on any system.
Where it's at is the games, and there are plenty. Alot of fun is to be had with this console, and I honestly own all 3 next generation consoles, but the 360 garners around %90 of my attention.
Onl-line gaming is very important to most 360 owners, but you can game some, and then break for as long as you want and come back to them. For most games the install base is large enough now that there will almost always be someone to play on-line with. Howevery, story still plays a big part in single player, and there are some moving stories to interact with on this console.
The premium console is a steal at this price point, and the 360 is so much more than a video game console. It's a full fledged media center. Pull pictures from your PC, plug in your iPod via USB, download reasonably priced TV shows and much more in this package. You'll find an ever growing collection of XBOX Live Arcade games to complement high definition movie rentals if you'd prefer.
Microsoft understood that sometimes you need a break from gaming. Along with all the other features I've listed if you have a high definition set-up, you'll find the most reasonably priced high definition movie player on the market. I 5-Star recommend the HD-DVD player to go along with your XBOX 360.
The system offers 1080p gaming and movie viewing, has a built in scaler to upscale your DVD collection and can connect to the internet straight out of the box with the network cable included in the box.
Some people say that sound isn't the strongest feature, but for %95 of the people that utilize 5.1 at the most, this consoles media boasts some gripping audio and firmware updates add more and more features everyday such as DTS (Digital Theater Surround) support. The console is ever changing because of firmware updates, and I've always found it to be for the better.
So in a nutshell, the 360 offers everything a gamer or techhead could and with each game that comes out (AAA or not), I'm finding this system becoming more and more the best gaming system I've owned in 25 years of gaming. Maybe I'm just addicted to achievements, but I'd like to think that I'm just addicted to fun.

I bought this console when it first came out for 400 dollars. I also bought the also one year warranty for it to. Of course after a year and a half it broke and I had to pay 90 dollars. It took forever to get fixed. Then they sent me a refurbished one back. Which of course broke a couple months after this warranty expired. I took AWESOME care of both consoles. With the money you would be spending on this console over and over again with warrantys that never seem to work you could own a PS3 and a Wii and Have the best of both worlds
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I recently bought a PS3 for the Blu-Ray functionality and even considered selling my 360, but quickly abandoned that notion as soon as xbox launched the new xbox live. The ability to stream my netflix to my plasma is awesome and the new interface is so much fun to play with you could spend hours just exploring. Xbox definatly takes the cake over PS3 for the Marketplace interface. Even though it lacks a Blu-Ray player don't count this system out is still well worth the money.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Internet, graphics, good games.
the menus are easy to use. I think the xbox360 is a great choice but I haven't tried ps3 or wii so I can't compare. But for 260 bucks I think it was a great buy.

Oh men, that's the coolest video game ever. I played in my friend's house, but I'm not so shure that I'll buy it, possibly, the PS3, I don't know what I'll buy PS3 or XBOX 360?

I've had my xbox 360 pro for over 2 years. I've had the red rings of death and also another hardware failure. Some people curse microsoft for all this but hey everyone makes mistakes. Any time i had a problem microsoft shipped and repaired my xbox for free. you cant really complain they could just leave you high and dry. All my friends have xbox and the online experience is incredible. Personally a ps3 would be boring to me because i wouldnt be able to play with any of my friends. Since most games are multi platform anyway i would rather be able to play with my friends then just a bunch of random people. The picture quality is great and the sound is also wonderful. I would recommend this to anyone who loves gaming.

What's not so great: the ring of death, hard-drive not reliable, freezing
My friend and I have Xbox 360's. My friend had the ring of death and the repairmen told him it would be fixed in 2 weeks, but it took them 6 months. My is ok. It freezes a lot (especially Need For Speed). Overall it is a good console but of course Microsoft doesn't care about quality. Try PS3, it is a lot better but not as cheap.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Great system, especially at the new price. I did buy an arcade version, but only because I was able to procure a 120 gig HD at a very good price, so I personally didn't need the elite or pro versions. Not to mention the fantastic selection of games due to the fact it's been out for some time.
As for the bad, no built in wireless. This is a big turn off, especially considering the price of the wireless adapter. Would also be nice if it came with a rechargeable battery for the controller, though I believe that does come with the higher end models. I do not care for the A/V cable system either, too much nickel and diming.
The drive is excessively loud, and I do mean excessively. Fortunately, with the latest update, games can be installed to the HD, and while the disc still needs to be in the drive, it is much, much quieter, and load times are greatly improved.

The only thing I am wary of is the red ring of death syndrome. I am assuming that has been fully addressed, and the extended warranty does ease my worries, so I do not believe this to be a factor anymore.
All in all, I believe this to be a great buy. You can't beat the price, and though I do prefer my PS3, the 360 does have a mighty library of games to back it up. Definately recommended....

I like X Box. I can talk forever about it. Basically X Box live is very user Friendly. The Price of these systems is the only downside. Since it's cheaper then PS3 it's a better buy in my opinion.

I got one last feb, i was so happy and expecting too much, but in comparing to PS3, xbox 360 is far behind in many aspect. I played almost 60 H, and i already HW failure, crashes. if you wanted extend your guaranty, but if not go for PS3

i love this system. you can go online and play against other people. me and my husband play against our family that lives more than 8 states over. it's a wonderful way to keep in touch and have some fun.

i love adding music to my 360 and i play it everyday...i enjoy getting online.. i even make friends.... and have good challenges in some games...thanks for letting me tell u guys how much i love the xbox 360

What's great about it: Wide selection of games and X-Box Live.
What's not so great: Shoddy Reliability
I was lead to believe that Microsoft fixed the problems which plagued the earlier 360's and purchased one for my son in March, 2008. Eight months later, system failure. Now I need to send it in. I should've done more research.

I really don't use this the grandkids do but just watching it when they use it the graphics and that are outstanding. They spend alot of hours playing it. And for the price that BEst Buy offered it you can't beat it had checked it other places and it was alot higher. I have been buying from Best Buy for quite awhile and have never been disappointed in the service if I have a problem they have always taken care of what ever the issue is. I will continue to buy from BEST BUY THEY ARE THE BEST....

I have had this syetem for over a year now and have had absolutly no problems with it yet. 360 has all the great games like Call Of Duty 4, Gears Of War 2 etc. Media center only worked for me for only 1 day and i havent been able to get it to work since. But that really isnt a big deal for me im all about gaming :)! Xbox live has plent of downloads from arcade games, Orignial xbox games and plenty of Tv Shows & movies. Downside is you dont wanna play for more then a few hours a day to avoid ever gettin the RROD (Red Ring Of Death). Everall its the best system i ever played on and definelty worth the money.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's not so great: convert the media files for media center.
the 360 is awesome. the graphics are great, xbox live is always fun being able to communicate with people from around the world. the media center is also great, being able to watch movies i downloaded on my computer in my room, with just a connection of the 360 and my computer. although sometimes it connects and the movies wont play, and the conversion takes a long time.but, overall, for a serious gamer, the 360 is great.

overall me and my boyfriend love the 360. xbox live is great, and we also use the media center to watch movies we have on our computer in our room. sometimes the media center has problems connecting with the computer but overall the gaming system is good. graphics are also great. and its not that expensive for all the features you get.

This is really the greatest gaming experience I've had. It has more games and better games, in my opinion, that Playstation or Wii., even before connecting it for online gaming.
