What's great about it: The graphics are great
What's not so great: the fan is loud and somtimes does not shut off

"This is a nice upgrade from the Xbox. However, I am a little hesitant about the Xbox 360 standing on its side. it does not seem very steady, and I am afraid it is going to tip over.

Other then that I am very happy with the purchase. I am a big Tiger Woods fan and with the new game and console, I am entertained for hours."

It's a nice system 04/21/2008

What's great about it: Graphics, Games, XBox Live, DVD Player
What's not so great: RED RING OF DEATH, Noisy, No BLU-RAY

"I bought a 360 on the day that it was released 2.5 years ago. I've gotten a lot of mileage out of my 360 since that day and have been pleased overall. The graphics are simply awesome with games that push the limits of the hardware such as Halo 3 and Gears of War. XBox 360 by far has the largest library of games of all the next generation consoles. XBox Live is the superior online service to the Wii and PS3. While Sony's online has gotten better, XBox Live is still the one to have for any online player. The DVD player is nothing special, but it does the job.
The 360 is not flawless, though. I've suffered thru the "red ring of death" that you've all probably heard of at this point. Basically, your XBox 360 freezes up and instead of the pretty green ring that should be around the power button on the front, 3 blinking red lights appear and the whole system fails to boot up. I had to send my original 360 in for repairs. Luckily, it was under the extended warranty that Microsoft decided on just last year.
Another flaw is that Microsoft put all their eggs in one basket and supported the HD-DVD format instead of BLU-RAY in the form of a stand alone peripheral. At this point, Microsoft has no intention of coming out with a dedicated BLU-RAY peripheral to replace the now defunct HD-DVD one.
Overall, I really enjoy my 360, even though it is not perfect. If you are driven to buy games based on graphics alone, you should look no further than this system."

What's great about it: Amazing graphics, amazing games, and amazing online gaming!
What's not so great: haven't found any yet....

"When it was time to update my original Xbox, I was quite excited to use the 360. I had never used it before, so I wasn't quite sure what to expect. Well, to say the least, I was blown away! I have just recently purchased a sweet HD flat screen - - gaming in high def will change your life! After signing up for Xbox Live, I was hooked for good - it brings the whole experience up a few notches! For anyone planning on buying a new game system - the obvious choice is the 360 - the games are far superior to other systems, the tech support is excellent, and you'll never need to own another system!"

Best For Home Media Center 04/21/2008

"With the Playstation 3 dominating sales and Sony emerging victorious with Blu Ray, Microsoft's Xbox may seem outdated. Hmm...let's think; most of the media in your home isn't Blu Ray; it's DVDs and thousands of Mp3 files. What would work with what I have? Microsoft's Xbox is more than a gaming machine...it's a home media option that is cheaper and more functional than anything else. The machine comes with media center capabilities; with gigabit networking built-in and N wireless already here, streaming your video and audio files is easy. It can also update itself, and with Xbox LIVE you can download trailers and full television programs. The HD support starts with 1080p (which the latest flat-screens support) and DVD up-conversion. (The HD-DVD King Kong looked very close to the up-converted Kong on DVD). Going one step further, if you're backing up all your DVDs to something smaller, like MP4/DIVX/Xvid files, the Xbox 360 will play it back."

What's great about it: great console
What's not so great: fear of the red ring of death

"Its a great console well worth the extra money to get the normal one instead of the arcade console. This one has the hard drive and a few other differences. Great buy non the less. Would sugest buying the extra cooler and putting the foam strips that come in the packaging to elivate it of the place it sits a bit more for better air transfer cooling. The wireless controlers are great as well no more worrying about friends triping over the cords. All in all 9 out of 10 only because of potencial red ring of death and having to wait forever to get the replacement. Also another plus is a lot of the game that were once exclusive to those other consoles are also availiable on this one"

"The xbox 360 has alot of great features. The xbox live is one of those great features. Its not always breaking down and getting stuck while you are in the middle of playing a game like other gaming consoles do. Xbox live doesnt only offer you playing video games online it also lets you download games online straight to your console. You can download lots of demos online. Instead of going out and buying a game that has just come out you can download it on xbox live and see if its good enough to buy. That way you wont whast your money on boring games. Xbox live also offers a xbox 360 arcade which lets you download from tons of classic games that you can save on your console and play for free when ever you want. Xbox live also lets you rent moves that you can watch straight from your console. Instead of going out and rentin the movie you can save time and rent it from your xbox and watch it when you want. The xbox 360 has alot of great features that you can use for your enjoyment when ever you want. Thats one of the reasons that the xbox 360 is a great buy. Thanks for reading."

"I bought my 360 about a month ago, and after reading many, many, many reviews, i decided to go ahead with the purchase. I read alot of reviews about upset people and there breaking 360's. Alot of them sounded like to me that they were hardcore gamers and had no life but playing there 10 hours a day. I have no problems with mine and alot of my friends told me to just take care of it. Dust around it once a week, keep it clean and never put it on the carpet. And always have at least a foot of space around it for breathing. I bought Best Buy's extended warranty if anything should happen. I feel comfortable that nothing will as long as i take care of it. The fan does run a bit loud but I'm so focused on the amazing graphics and games xbox continues to serve. Take care of your machine and you wont be let down!!!!"

What's great about it: Loves the "reality" of the games
What's not so great: Had to return the first one after getting "red rings"

"My son bought the XBox 360 after learning from his friends how great they are. He bought this with his Christmas money and has been on it ever since!!! The first one got the "red rings" (whatever that means) after about 2 months. I had taken out the extended warranty and had absolutely no problem returning it to the store and getting a brand new one. Sad to say, I never see my son except for time to go to school and eating."

"This system has everything the hardcore gamer could need in a system. The game play is phenomenal. The online gaming is amazing. Xbox Live has been doing a great job since they started it. Halo 3, COD4, The Orange Box are the big titles to shoot for. Personally, TF2 on the Orange Box is the best FPS on the market, and from experience, the game play is better here with the 360. This model in particular fits most needs for a decent price. If you are the hardcore gamer, the Elite is the next step with the massive hard drive and HDMI inputs. This system gives you access to the greatest games on the market, with so many titles to choose from. The arcade is amazing with games, movies, and tv shows to download. Achievements and gamer scores add to the excitement. Leaderboards with friends add competition. I personally recommend this system if you are looking to buy a platform system for this generation. Xbox 360, for the real gamers."

"This is a really great gaming system. The best gaming system for serious gamers. Graphics look amazing, the system doesn't take long to load at all, and compared to other systems this is lasting much longer without having a single problem. The system may get loud at times, but playing with the sound up (which everyone should do to get into the game) should fix that problem. As far as paying for onling game play. I think it's worth the money. Great online server and play. Fast and reliable. Aside from playing games online, you could also download various demos and other great stuff for your xbox."

"What an incredible gaming console! My friends kept pushing me to get an XBOX 360 for months and months last year, claiming its the best system to have, but I didn't jump on the thought right away.
Eventually, I folded in and got one, and my goodness, it was one of the best decisions I have made in regards to buying a GREAT gaming console! I had actually regretting waiting so long to get one. The game variety for the 360 is absolutely fantastic (in comparison to the PS3). HIGHLY RECOMMENDED for anyone considering to get the 360... DO IT TODAY!!!"

What's not so great: Having to pay for the xbox live account

"I have had my xbox since Christmas of 2007, and honestly wonder how I lived my life without it. This system has endless possibilities of uses. I have mine wirelessly connected to my computer to watch my movies and listen to my music right from my entertainment center across the house. The wireless controllers are fantastic. No wires makes it easy to lay on the couch in your fav position and still play. With games like Rock Band and Guitar Hero(series), every music lover can enjoy this system like their personal band. Games like Halo(series) and Call of Duty(series), all first person shooter gamers will be ready for war. Games like Lego Star Wars and all the xbox live marketplace downloads from Atari, Sega, Nintendo, and etc are all family ready. Playing against other gamers over the internet is probably my favorite feature though. You are never alone with the Xbox 360."

"great gaming system, only bad thing is that you have to pay to play multiplayer online games. plus it gets really hot. if you plan on putting this in a cubby hole or something like that purchase a cooling fan accessory to avoid over heating and taking years off the life of your system."
