What's great about it: Looks slim, High quality
What's not so great: Freezes (don't worry it only happens if you play for too long)

"The newer Xbox 360s I have seen have a lesser chance of getting the "red ring" which shuts your system down and you cant turn it back on. Ive had mind for over six months now and i haven't had problems besides the occasional freezing."

What's great about it: Xbox Live, Great Catalogue of Games

"My wife bought this system for me almost 2 years ago, and it's been one of the best gifts I've ever received.

The graphics capabilities are somewhere between the high of Sony's PS3, and the low of Nintendo's Wii, being closer to the PS3. Having played both, I can say that there isn't much of a difference in the visuals between a PS3 and a 360.

Where the 360 shines is it's online gaming network Xbox Live. This allows you to have a list of up to 100 friends to play online games with. The interface is pretty intuitive, and easy to pick up.

Xbox Live also allows you to download movies, TV shows, and games ranging from 80's era arcade games to Xbox Original games. The yearly fee for Xbox Live is pretty reasonable at $50, and most transactions require Microsoft Points. The points can be bought in stores, online, or via Xbox Live to purchase games and rent movies.

The catalogue of games is where the 360 beats out the PS3. In my experience the 360 has more fun "system exclusive" games than the PS3 does. This of course will vary from user to user.

The infamous "Red Ring of Death", or general hardware failure has been the 360's biggest black eye. I had to sent mine back for repairs after 14 months of ownership. Luckily Microsoft extended coverage for this problem to 3 years.

Overall a great product that can be enjoyed by the veteran gamer casual gamer alike."

"well ui finally got it. the xbox 360 the greatest gaming system on the market. it might have the red rings but all u need is the best buy warranty that lets you take the defected system right to the store for a brand new one right there. games are incredible live is the best thing since sliced bread haha. a must get for all seriuos gamers"

What's great about it: hard drive,exclusives,graphics.
What's not so great: frezzes up,overheats.

"the 360 is a good system its just that if you play a game like cod 4 it will frezze up.if you play a little too long, it will overheat. you will have to wait at least 15 to 30 minutes befrore playing again.the graphics are phenomenal on this system. i play alot of video games,and this was the one to change my life.if you want to buy a system that has alot of games out,get the xbox 360."

What's not so great: the fan is a lil loud....but thats just nitpicking

"unless you want a blu ray player....there is pretty much no reason to buy a ps3 over this. the online gaming is amazing on the 360 and the seletion of games are great."

What's great about it: a ton of games and really fun to play for hours
What's not so great: u need to get a intercooler to keep the system cool

"i play my xbox 360 for hours and the games are really fun. its worth all the money for sure. every game its really exciting to play.
but there is one problem with the xbox 360 without the intercooler the system pretty much over heats. the same is with the ps3. other then thats its a really cool system.
its a great gift to play for a long time with the games."

Okay in some ways, terrible in every other way 04/10/2008

"I have owned a xbox 360 since it came out. Although there is a very large selection of good games and the graphics are good, I would not recommend this console to a friend. With the 360 you have to pay $8.00 a month to play online, where you can get the same online experience for free on the PlayStation 3. Also the xbox 360 is very loud, which isn't a problem when the TV is turned up, but the PS3 is super quiet.

Also, the 360 (from my experience) is unreliable. Recently, my 360 died. My warranty had expired so I paid $100 for Microsoft to send me a new one. A month later I received my new xbox, after TWO days of receiving it, the "new" xbox died. I had to wait another month for a new xbox. This system is great for people who aren't planing on keeping it for more than two years or who wish to pay play online.

You may want to research the Xbox 360, PS3, and Wii before choosing a console"

"this is an excellent console, i can't say that enough. i sold my PS2 and original Xbox so i could buy this console, and i haven't regretted it. the graphics are great, and you can play many of the original Xbox games on it, with new titles being added regularly. i got one of the new units, with the HDMI output for HDTVs. this will be great for when i finally upgrade my TV, and the hardware issues were supposed to have been fixed in the new models. however, after only 4 months, i got the famous "red ring of death", telling me i had a hardware failure. this is the ONLY reason i did not give it 5 stars. the good news is that microsoft is well prepared for this issue, as it is VERY common- at least 4 people i know have had it. a quick call to tech support, and they send a pre-paid box to have the console shipped UPS to their repair center in Texas. in under a month- what i've heard, 3 weeks on average- the console is returned, either repaired or replaced via UPS. i understand they even include one month of free Xbox Live Gold with the returned console. overall, this console is excellent. it costs less than the PS3, and nothing compares to the Xbox Live experience."

"Where do I start. Xbox Live is totally awesome because it delivers the best online gaming experience on a console. Downloadable content for your favorite games is an amazing feature. For example, Rock Band has steadily been coming out with new songs for purchase weekly. Other games like Halo 3 and Call of Duty 4 have new maps that come out and games like Mass Effect even add to the single player experience. Another great thing about it is Xbox Live Arcade. You can download full arcade games. Uno is pretty sweet to play and I just read about Monopoly coming to XBLA. And then there's one of my favorite things about Xbox Live. The video marketplace. I have downloaded so many episodes of South Park and my other favorite T.V. shows, I even rented a few movies on it. You also have things such as demos for upcoming games and game trailers available on Xbox Live.
And now to the core of the 360: the games. Even if you don't have an internet connection (which you do if you're reading this) 360 is still awesome! Games such as Gears of War, Halo 3, Mass Effect, and Bioshock are some of the creme of the crop that are Xbox exclusive, not to mention the upcoming relese of Fable 2. And it has great third-party titles like Call of Duty 4. I think it's controller is great for its specialty: first-person shooters. The way the analog sticks are set up is just so perfect and you gotta love those triggers. A feature that comes with every single game is achievements. They don't actually mean anything, but when you do something in a game you unlock it and points are added to your gamerscore which is your overall score for all games. They don't seem like much but they are addicting to the point that you become dissapointed when you are playing on a different console and you don't get any. They also become a mini-competetion against your friends to see who has the highest score.
Unfortunately at the beggining of its release it had major hardware issues. The red-ring of death killed many a console and frustrated many gamers. The good news is that Microsofts new models seem to have that problem fixed.
I guess it's worth mentioning the different consoles they have. There's the core (I think its now reffered to as the arcade now) which is just the console with a memory card for saving data: perfect for people who just want to experience the great games the 360 has to offer. The pro(I think this is now just Xbox 360) is the mid-range. It comes with a 20 GB hard drive, which is good because most of the features on Xbox live necessitate a hard drive for the best use of them. And there's the elite which has an awesome black finish, has a hefty 120 GB hard drive, and an HDMI cable for High-Def Gaming. Not to mention the special edition ones like the Halo 360.
It does have good accessories such as the play-n-charge kit for the wireless controllers, but those aren't really that special. It has a nice seleciton of headsets of varying price. They have a real basic one thats 20 bucks and a really sweet one for about 60. Unfortunately it doesn't come with wii-fii so you have to buy a wireless adaptor if you have a wireless network. The Microsoft one is 100 bucks ouch!
Music can be stored on the Hard drive or you can just plug a usb device with music on it and stream it to your 360. It can also be used as an extender for Windows media center and run it. Your computers media files can also simply be shared to your 360 throgh your network.
I absolutely adore my 360. The great games, the arcade games to play leisurely after I'm done with the main ones, the South Park to watch and unwind, and finally finish it off with some music before I decide to go to sleep; but then I think, "Why not do it all again" and then I throw in another great game. I just can't get enough"

Well worth it 04/04/2008

What's great about it: gaming community, games, 3 yr warranty

"I've had my system for almost 2 yrs before it finally bit the dust but Microsoft knew they had issues and to make things right they extended the warranty for 3 yrs. When you do make the call customer service is great, they know it happens and will send you out a box to send it in for replacement. Now as far as the waiting period, I've got friends that have had they're xbox back within a week. I know in the beginning it was taking closer to a month but they have gotten better at it. Now as far as the gaming, it's AWESOME!! Now you are going to run into those that think that they really need to act up but for the most part you will find that the gaming community on xbox live is pretty cool. Usually you will run into those that just have to act up but once you start building up your friends list of people you like to play with you start seeing less and less of the ones you don't want to play with. Coming from a gaming family it was a great way for me to join another group of people that I refer to as my "away from home gaming family" now that I live too far away to play with my real family (until I can get them all to get an xbox).

"first off, i love my ex-box. ive had it for 2 years, i use it for games, music, movies, its basically the my media center. but the thing is just terribly built. granted it lasted 2 years, but i still got the red ring of death. microsoft did not deal with the heat issue very well. they do however help u get it fixed, but it still takes about a month, and its not guaranteed not to do it again. i recomend it only because it is awesome and not all units will break. by the way, for the red ring of death, the towel trick works. ive done it twice already. google it if u dont know what the towel trick is."

"I bought this console over half a year ago and it was one of the best purchases ever... This console is one of the best gaming consoles out there for the price. It has spectacular online play, Great HDTV quality, Not only that but you can buy and download movies from Xbox live.. This console is for the extreme online gamer, But I wouldnt reccomend it for a family console... Most of the games are higher in rating and for online play.."
