What's great about it: High resolution, Great online
What's not so great: Red circle of death

"Good buy. With xbox live its very easy to keep in touch with your friends. After having the console for about a year i got the red circle of death. I sent it in to microsoft so they would fix it and it took me months to get my xbox back. Its just as good as when i first got it. High resolution output, and a decent size hard drive."

What's great about it: OK GAMES
What's not so great: ONLINE SERVICE $50 YR.,HARDWARE FAILURE 16%,NO EXCLUSIVE TITLES poor customer service

"i bought my xbox 360 on 10-9-06 and i got the 3 red lights on 1-9-08. i sent it in for repair and it came back in 8 days later. within 2 days it started to act up again like freezing, blank screen and red lights. people are saying that the ps3 is not as good as xbox 360 because of games ( not true at all.) they have they have awesome titles resistance:fall of man, ratchet and clank, metal gear solid 4 coming june 3rd. resistance2 with 60 players online and 50 gb of space on a blu-ray disc. and many more. you'll spend more money on xbox 360 than ps3 because u have to buy: 1 xbox live service $50 yr. 2 hd dvd player $50 ( which is dead) 3 wireless adaptor $100.00 4 battery pack $ 30.00 ps3 1 built in blu-ray player 2 built in wifi 3 free online service - no lag 4 4 usb ports 5 3 memory card slots 6 interactive w/ psp 7 quieter fan 8 plays in true 1080p 9 80 gb plays plays 80% of ps2 and ps1 games 10 video chat up to 6 people at once w/ playstation eye note: just b/c ur paying for something, it doesn't make it better. xbox 360 is a unreliable console total price of xbox 360 $ 659.00 total price of playstation 3 $ 550.00"

What's great about it: easily the most fun gaming console thanx to game library!
What's not so great: the infamous red ring of course

"Last night my xbox 360 got the infamous red ring of death, just prior my screens image got a little grainy and then upon the next power up i got the red ring.... i purchased mine in october of 2007 so i got almost six month.... so as an experienced customer with good and bad sides all experienced the only advice i have is if you do decide to buy, you simply must get the REPLACEMENT plan from bestbuy... dont send it away to microsoft so you can sit around bored for 2 months.... get it replaced.... just keep getting new replacement plans each time or else....."

What's great about it: when it works it works great, and customer support is good.
What's not so great: to many break downs

"The only reason I gave the Xbox360 two stars is the customer service is outstanding. The problem is I shouldn't be in the position to learn that. My first 360 lasted 1yr and 1month, my second lasted 6months and its death was more catastrophic then the first. Screen locks up, picture distorts into those lovely digital tiles we see all the time on digital tv and then, the red ring of death. So here I am again with hundreds $ invested in games and online live subscriptions I won't be able to use until I either buy another one, wait 6weeks for my repaired one, or buy a ps3 and take all my xbox games to game stop and trade in for a loss. As for recommendations; buyer beware and just know it's going to cost you a lot of money."

Absolutely Amazing 03/20/2008

What's great about it: Great games, almost everything is wireless, great graphics, Xbox Live, HD Compatible, easy to setup
What's not so great: Large AC Output thing

"I got the Xbox 360 for Christmas last year. That means I have had this system for about three months. After recently purchasing the Wii, I know how to much hype can easily kill a console. I tried to ignore it and got one expecting the worst. Suprisingly, I lived up to every one of my expectations and may be the best system around.
I have never had an Xbox, but I got used to the controls in about two days. I purchased Xbox Live and saw that I had a moderate NAT (Network Address Translation). I heard that wasn't too good so I troubleshoot on their website. They made it seem like I couldn't play online and was really dissappointed. I spent $150 ($100 wireless adapter, $50 one year subscription) and hated myself for not researching more. But then, I decided to try Live and see what would happen. I went onto COD4 and was amazed to see that I could actually play! Moderate NAT just means I can't connect with someone who has a strict NAT (which is really rare and really easy to fix).
I haven't had any problems yet so in my case, the Xbox 360 is better than the PS3 for its game library (Gears of War 1 + 2, Halo 3, etc.) and plus the Xbox has vibration unlike the PS3."

"i got the 360 about a year and a half ago because all of my friends and family said how great it was and how much better it was than the ps3. well i have had it for only 1 1/2 years and i am already replacinf it a second time makeing this my 3rd 360. i was really disapointed and if your going to buy it beware and definitly spend the money on the REPLACEMENT plan."

What's great about it: Pretty much everything: graphics, games, etc.
What's not so great: Overheats, and ac adapter is the size of a brick

"I bought this system near the beginning of 2007 and it's great just one problem it got the "red ring of death" kind of sucks but i called Microsoft and they'll fix it for free and give you a free month of xbox live. Overall it's a great system for a good price."

"This is a really great game system. It has a huge amoun of games and is very popular, which makes a difference when looking to play online. today 8 of the top 10 most rented games on gamefly were xbox 360. The battery on the controller is removeable which is good because it lets you keep it wireless f it dies, while also having multiple ways to charge the controller. There are more games for this than the ps3 as well. This game system is probly the best out there. The wii while fun is something that you will grow tired of after a while. And the ps3 is a bluray player more than a game machine. If you want to play games then this is for you. As for xbox live costing money is it pretty cheap and you get what you pay for."

What's great about it: graphics,gameplay,xbox live,
What's not so great: if the console falls down the disk that is in it doesn't work anymore...

"the xbox 360 is great. awesome graphics. great gameplay. and xbox live is insanley fun and addicting. if you buy this you will definatly not regret it. it runs great. but... i must say that it is a bit noisy when it runs. also my friend knocked the xbox over and then the game that i was playing didn't work anymore. but anyhow... the xbox has a way bigger collection of games that you can get for it. for example, some of the games that i think are the best are call of duty 4 halo 3 army of 2 gears of war and skate. they are all great games with great graphics and gameplay. so. if your planning on buying one of the next gen systems, i suggest you buy the xbox 360 because it is better than the ps3 and wii by far."

What's not so great: System Glitches

"Xbox
360 is a great system, I have had one for around 3 years. A great thing
about it, is the the Dashboard, there is so much stuff you can do
there. (Download music, movies, shows, game add-ons, demos, and much
more). I strongly recommend that you get the 2 year warrenty, because
many ppl get the Red Rings in that period. (it is alot easier to
exchange it at the store for a fresh one, then send it in and wait a
few weeks). Its a good deal for 350, BUT if you get it you NEED to get
XBOX LIVE!, Because it is SOOO much fun and IT IS PRETTY MUCH MEANT FOR
XBL. (sometimes when you turn off the 360, it is still running, but if you tell it to shut up it will stop)"

second 360 in spare room

What's great about it: Game selection, online content, Media center extender
What's not so great: Noisy fans..

"this is my third 360, since my first purchase back in dec. 2006, with the red ring of death glitches. My second one just froze on me while playing halo 3. But my latest one is the updated version with the HDMI connection in the back. BIG improvement. No more red ring of DEATH!!! You probly read all the other reviews about the 360, but the main reason I bought mine was for the media center extender techonology. I have a media center pc set up that records my shows and i am able to watch them on my 360 in my living room while my pc is in another room!!! It is awsome. Just recently xboxlive did a update to the console that now lets you play MPEG 4 file format (divix) (xvid) video. That is EXCELLENT!!! cause now the console can play just about any video format now, except MPEG1 and 2. Thats fine for me cause thoes file formats are not as good as Divix and xvid. That is a Plus in my BOOK. I like this console so much, i bought another for the guest room."

"i bought my 360 souly for halo 3. i was not disapointed. i love playing online. i know it costs $50, but thats like 4 bucks a month. i waste more than that on shoe polish. i have gotten the "red ring of death" a few times but i just turn it off then turn it on then it works."

What's great about it: Great Graphics, Excellant Game Selection, Xbox Live
What's not so great: No HDMI or HD Player (built in)

"I loved this unit. I recently switched to the PS3 because of the Blu-Ray (I'm a bigger movie buff than a game guru). While I had the 360 though, I would get lost in the games. Titles like Gears of War, Call of Duty 3, Rainbow 6: Vegas, and more, will captivate your attention for hours on end.
The newer models have the HD-DVD player option, but blu-ray is going to ultimately win out (IMHO).
The component video cables do help to give you a true, crisp, sharp image though.
Great system."
