"I bought the Xbox 360 almost a year ago now and have not had any real problems with it. The system is amazing as are the games that you can buy for it. A nice feature with the 360 is Xbox Live where you can purchase arcade games as well as original Xbox games for much less then in store prices. The leaderboards and online game play works much better then Sony's online game play which is a major plus. This makes it more entertaining playing games because you get to play with a variety of people and not just alone. Another feature is that you can purchase movies, TV shows, backgrounds, and avatars on Live. The Xbox 360's DVD compatability is better then the PS2's but on the down side you cannot play Blue Ray DVD's whereas you can on the PS3, but you can purchase an HDTV DVD player to go with your Xbox. Overall this is a great purchase and one that is affordable."

What's great about it: HD graphics, great game selection What's not so great: no built in HD disc player, lacking multimedia capabilities
"This console has many great features. You can play a wide range of games, most of them in 1080p. Even though most of them are upconverted. It can play back your whole dvd collection. You can play online over xbox live. And it comes with a fair sized hard drive. But it is missing many key components. It doesn't have any built in HD disc player. The games are all put on dvds which limit the size and quality of the game. The controllers require batteries to be changed evey few months unless you want to get a rechargeable battery pack. And there have been thousands of issues dealing with the three red lights that cause hard drive failure. Despite some setbacks it is worth the money if your only looking for a well performing game system."

"360 is a okay buy. it has great graphics. the xbox guide is great feture. all of this is great while it lasts. my 360 is the one that has the built in hdmi port which has a extra sink port and according to microsoft is supposed to reduce the amount of heat in the 360, but after about 20 minutes of game play it gets really hot. also it is extremely fragile. if you move or if someone bumps into it while your playing a game it will scracth up the entire game. so for your benefit put it down lieing down not standing. it is also really noisy. i didnt have a 360 when it first came out but it still looks like it will have the same problems as the origianl."

"I would like to address some of the issues that people have posted here.
Live Service unreliable: I have been a XBOX live subscriber since launch and it is true that during the months of Dec and Jan of 2007/2008 the service was unreliable. This was the first time in FIVE years that this has happened and I have since read it was because the Live servers were hit with a denial of service attack as well as a very large number of new subscribers over the holidays. That has since been resolved and Live is performing flawlessly once again.
No HDMI: I have read that all Consoles (Elite, Halo, Arcade, Standard) that were manufactured after July of 2007 come with an HDMI connection. So if you recently purchased a 360 and it doesn’t have a HDMI port you bought an old system that is subject to the ROD so I would return it for a current production run model.
I have an original 20 gig 360 without HDMI support that I purchased when the console was launched and have not had a single problem with it. No ROD or scratched disk. I guess I have been lucky. I live in a house full of gamers so unfortunately this box REALLY gets a workout. In fact its time to buy another box because its getting old waiting in line to play COD4! Currently my wife is a Viva Pinata fan, my son plays Halo3 and I play COD4. I don’t think our 57” HD tv has played anything other that XBOX titles or HD DVDs in the last 6 months!"

"The xbox 360 is the BEST system on the market. I have had mine since Halo 3 came out in stores and it is one of the greatest investments you can make. Shortly after I purchased mine, i was trying to convince my friend to get one as well so we could play online together. Long story short, he gave in and is hooked on Xbox Live gaming. Currently he is at his cousins house SELLING HIS PS3 BECAUSE HE WANTS A 360 TOO! Honestly 360 is the best. You can watch dvds even burned dvd's! upload music and listen to it while your playing the game. YOU NEED THIS SYSTEM NOW!!!!"

"Good system but no one ever says the bad like when your playing a game and say someone triped over a cord, your game might get demolished. Or if you move the 360 while your playing it, it makes a sound like "ERGGGG" and scratches your game disk. Like carrying a 360 in your backpack going to your friends house etc. YOU MUST TAKE OUT YOUR GAME FROM THE SYSTEM.. Id you do not do so, then your 360 has a good chance of getting the "Red Ring Of Death" Which leads to a load of problems. As for if you move a PS2 or PS3 it does nothing, i think the 360 is a little unstable.. But it has excellent LIVE and gaming performance. They should have stableized it a little more.. All in all if you can take care of a gaming system i would recomend this product, if your some people and dont really care, DO NOT get this, it is way to fragile. Its also a little to loud, it sounds like a computer. But yeah its a good product.. I like it, But its about time people heard about the problems the system leads to.

What's great about it: Wide variety of good titles What's not so great: Need to be careful to have good ventilation
"This console is a great performer, and there are a great (too many!) variety of good titles to choose from. I haven't tried XBox Live too much, but it seems good although a bit unreliable (not a problem per se with the console, but with the Live network at times). One word of advice: be sure you have the console positioned so that it 'breathes' easily. Otherwise the back side gets hot, and could damage or affect the performance of the unit. I had mine in a bookcase, yet with about 12 inches of breathing room both behind and to the sides. And even with this, the back got too hot, and I would get periodic graphics glitching. Once I moved the unit out of the bookcase, the back side was much cooler, and no glitching has occurred. Enjoy your 360!"

What's great about it: Diverse console that provides a wide range on gaming and communication productivity What's not so great: A little loud when watching DVDs on it.
"This is a great product. I got this product as a gift to myself and I use it frequently. On cleaning days, I play music on my XBox hard drive and clean around the house. I love the capability of being able to take all my music and copy it onto the Xbox hard drive. I play games on the XBox 360 - of course - and the ability to go LIVE is such a wonderful breakthrough technology. This is such an awesome system. I love to acheive high levels on this game and you unlock certain acheivement goals - it's pretty cool. I also use my XBox to watch movies. My home DVD player broke. Well, instead of getting it replaced, I've used my XBox as a DVD player. Basically, I constantly use every feature of this device on a daily basis for something. The only thing that I was concerned about was playing my XBox too long watching a movie and then it would get too hot. I was very surprised to see how hot the system got. I did purchase the fan that goes on it - and I can play the system for a while with ease that it's not overheating. I would highly recommend this product. I'm very excited about all the features still and the many capabilities."

"This system is the most superior of the next gen consoles. I own a 360 as well as a playstation 3 and the 360 offers better, more fluid gaming. Yeah you're not given HD movie capacity with the 360 unless you fork out an additional $170 but you get better gameplay which is a good trade off for the hardcore gamers. I purchased my PS3 when i sent my 360 out to the repair center after the 3 rings of death struck. I bought a couple of the same games i owned on xbox for my ps3 and it played better on my 360. It looked better, ran faster and played better on my 360. If only you get lucky and purchased a good console or purchase an elite edition.This is the one drawback and if this helps anyone BUY AN ELITE EDITION. I just got a replacement console and already the signs are bad. I had some game freezes. I most likely am going to recieve another replacment console and who knows. I may just take the L and fork out that $449 or whateva and buy the Elite edition."

"I bought this system a long time ago, almost a year now. The processing is fast, but the system tends to make loud noises which makes me wary. The games look great on my HD television, but it could have been better if it used HDMI, unfortunately, that's on the elite version. The concept that I'm not understanding on the elite version is, how do they expect to utilize the HDMI, if the games itself aren't HD DVD? Anyways, there are a good line of games to choose from, although, most of the exclusive games I have played seem overrated. Wifi would have been a great standard feature to avoid having the internet cable run across the room. There is a wifi accessory available, but it's too expensive in my opinion. The wireless controllers are helpful, but try not to use the vibration feature because it drains the battery faster."

"I have had my xbox 360 for one and a half years. Have several games and admit it is a blast to play when it's working. Got the dreaded red rings about 3 months ago...got a replacement from Microsoft (was not my original system as I was told it would be so my PSP with Best Buy is voided of course). Got the refurbished system from Microsoft back right before xmas, played it for 3 weeks then it died as well...has audio, but no video...also a new common problem. I know several friends who have had their xbox 360's die as well...in fact when I took the box into the UPS store, the guy at the counter knew what I was bringing in before I even told him because he recognized the box from previous customers shipping theirs out...he told me he's been shipping these 360's out constantly for repairs-I am spending more time on the phone with Microsoft, packing up the console and shipping these things out, and trying to make sure I'm home when they ship it back than I am playing on them. Nothing I have ever owned has been more unreliable and frustrating...seriously thinking of getting rid of the system and all the games I have when I get the next refurbished console back from Microsoft and switching to the PS3 which has had virtually no problems and comes with Blu-Ray player...would rather just start over then deal with this any longer...stay away is my advice"

What's great about it: game selection, xbox live, its just plain great What's not so great: when they break
"The Xbox 360 is a great gaming system. It is a solidpiece of hardware that can run the most beautiful games to date. It is well priced for what you get out of it. The 20 GB harddrive is a perfect size for what the majority of people need for space. Also the game selection out there is amazing, there are so mant excellent games, especially lately with the releases of Call of Duty 4, Halo3, Rock Band, Guitar Hero3 and many more. Plsu there are tons more greta games on the way. Finally what puts this system above the rest though is xbxo live. Live is the best online gaming experience out there, the community is great...playing games ith friends who live far away over live is also great... The only drawback is the failure rate, i myself have gone through two xbox's so far and just got my third one a few days ago. Some people have gone through many but other are still on their original. Its basically just the luck of teh draw."

"This is an awesome system. It is great to play online with friends or to make new friends. The graphics are excellent. The sound is unbelievable. There are hundreds of games to choose from.
It is rather frustrating that only a selected systems have the HDMI connection, which is the best connection for those flat screen TVs that everyone is buying. I think the Halo edition and the black edition. Also after sending my Xbox in for the the ring of death issue, it has been having difficulties reading disks."

"i bought myself a xbox360 this christmas it was working fine for the first couple of days... then it kept freezing and the internet connection did not work and the status of the connection said it was good... and i kept restarting it and nothing seem to work. my brother had a PS3 and it was working fine and the games were GREAT!! the PS3 network is way better then the xbox. it also has BLU-RAY disc.. and xbox only has DVD disc... i DO NOT recommend this product i recommed the SONY PS3 system"
