Worst Purchase Ever 01/05/2008

What's great about it: No pros
What's not so great: Lots and lots of cons (read my review please)

"I got an xbox 360 for Christmas and it was bought brand new. The only reason I got it was because all my friends had one and told me to get one. After about 5 minutes of playing online it would freeze, tell me there is no connection, or just kick me out of the game, when I tested my connection it said I had an excellent connection. I'm paying $5 a month for this bad online play when I only got to play like 5 games before it started glitching and would never stop.

TRUST ME, I AM NOT CRAZY AND I'M NOT A NERD, DO NOT GET AN XBOX 360, GO WITH PS3!!

The PS3's have free online gameplay, play bluerays (which is way better than HD), they have an internet browser, don't freeze or glitch, they are now cheaper, are way easier to setup, have built-in wireless (which in an xbox you have to buy a $100 adapter just to get wifi)"

Pretty, but loud 01/04/2008

What's great about it: Great graphics, xbox live, good games
What's not so great: really, really, loud, abnormally high failure rate

"I really can't impress upon you how loud this console is. The dvd-rom drive is the loudest I've ever heard in my life. It requires you to play with the volume up much louder than normal to drown out the noise of the spinning, which can be a problem unless you live alone or have a sound proof room. And you can forget doubling it as a dvd player for movies, because the noise is way to distracting. As for gameplay, games look great on it (except old Xbox games, which don't look as sharp here as they did in the original Xbox), and the wireless controllers are awesome (except for the fact that they don't come with a rechargeable battery, those you have to buy separate with the charger), but it's tough to swallow all the hardware problems microsoft hasn't been able to fix in 2 years, especially when I haven't heard of any problems for the PS3"

What's great about it: All the way around

"I was a playstation fanatic when I decided to buy my Xbox 360, but the PS3 was still fairly new, and diddent have the blockbuster games the Xbox 360 had to offer. Plus the Xbox 360 had been out for alittle longer and it was suggested that the Xbox 360 would have a more stable console vs the PS3 because the time they had to work out the "bugs" in a real world environment with millions of 360's already out there in the public hands. So I bit the bullet and spent the money, and immeditaly saw for myself why Microsoft was able to keep up and run with the big dogs of the other gaming consoles that had been around for much longer. The high deff gameing was amazing, and now that a few of my friends have bought the PS3 I have had the chance to compare the visual aspects of both consoles. Im not going to trash the PS3 and say that my Xbox360 is far much better but I can say that they are matched. I know that the PS3 is suppose to be much stronger in the graphics and prosessing department, but I havent seen a game that can keep up with it yet. I have also noticed that the Xbox 360 has a much easier user friendly Xbox Live setup than the PS3 online service. I have also herd alot about the "RED RING OF DEATH" but I have used my Xbox 360 for almost a year now non stop for music, gaming, and movies and have never had a problem with it freazing up or going out. It works just a good as the day I took it out of the box. I'll probably still get a PS3 just to have it but I can see now the Xbox 360 will still be my main gaming device, And Ill be wating when Xbox comes out with another console............ and buy a wii its just fun !"

What's great about it: Halo 3
What's not so great: Three red lights

"The only good thing about the Xbox 360 is Halo 3. That is if you're lucky enough to play. I had the system less than one year before I got the three red lights. I have sent three consoles and one power cord back for replacement. I've been without the system for five months now. Overall, I should have bought a PS3 and sacrificed the ability to play Halo 3 for a system that actually works."

"I have all 3 of the newer systems and this is easily my favorite one. My first one broke from the "red ring of death" but since that happened to alot of people they replaced mine for free and they shipped the new one very fast and gave me an extra free month of xbox live. I play more of the classic games in xbox live arcade then I do the cd games. But almost all the games for this system are top notch. No one could possibly be disappointed with this system, its definately the best one out there right now."

What's great about it: Xbox live, (not including recent problems) Games, Game Performance, Hard Drive, Graphics, Apperance, Price, EVERYTHING
What's not so great: "Red Lights of Death"/Hardware failure (did not happen to me but it happens with a very little percentage of Xbox 360's)

Best gaming console on the market 01/02/2008

What's great about it: The best game selection, excellent graphics, addictive entertainment
What's not so great: It scratches game discs, I have had to take them back; people have complained of hardware failure,"the ring of death".

"Out of the 3 main consoles to choose from (the other are the Wii and playstation 3), the Xbox 360 is the best choice. Here is why.

Games: Without a doubt the best selection, with many exclusives and good choices. Exclusives include: Bioshock, Gears of war, Mass Effect, and my personal favorite, Halo 3. There are plenty of non-exclusives like Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare, and Assassin's Creed which are good as well.

Graphics: I would describe the way a 360 looks when played on an HDTV or any other TV as simply beautiful. The xbox 360 has the hugest selection of great playing and good-looking video games. They are unbeliveable.

Features: The 360 can do more than just play games. It can also work as a dvd player, a music player and a communicator. The biggest feature is Xbox live.

Xbox live: Your Xbox 360 can connect to the internet to play games with people all over the world, talk to your friends, and even buy downloadable content for your 360 and its games. It makes everything more addictive, and costs as little as 5 dollars a month.

Price: In the 3 main consoles, this is right in the middle price-wise, but it's on top entertainment-wise. You'll have to save up a little, but it isn't that expensive. Each game is around 60 dollars so you will have to choose them carefully.

Family: The Xbox 360 is not the most family friendly console. Pre-teen and teenage boys will have an absolute blast. Younger kids and some adults might not find it so fun. Also the best games for the console are not the most appropriate, they are mostly rated M for mature. The E for everyone games are the least entertaining. In addition it isn't in all families price range, so for families the Wii is the best bet. The 360 is best for teens and adults who like video games.

Issues: Now for my least favorite part, I must address a few problems. The Xbox 360 scratches discs. They say not to move the console during play, I don't and they are still all scratched up I don't know whether or not this is typical. All my games are scratched. A few I had to take back and replace. Many people have experienced the "Red Ring of Death" this is a signal the 360 gives after Product failure. It is covered by warranty however.

Personal Opinion: I got the 360 last march because I wanted to play Halo 3 when it came out the following september. I saved up for a good while and got it. I think it is the best money I have ever spent. You might not think the same but you will still enjoy the game selection or at least the realism in gameplay. Play on!"

What's not so great: qick to over heat, many risks

"I recieved this product on Christmas 2007, and after 2 hours of game play it completly broke. I have no warranty on the purchase, and may have to send it back to microsoft and have it repaired.I am extremely angry and have many regrets about asking for the xbox 360 for Christmas. DO NOT BUY THE XBOX 360!!!!!!!!!! The worst product gaming product ever!"

Worth the money but buyer beware 01/01/2008

What's great about it: Great Graphics, Xbox Live, Great Games
What's not so great: Bad service reviews, overheats

"I have had my xbox 360 almost since launch day and have loved it up until I got the Red Ring of Death (the error code for an "internal hardware failure") about a week ago. I am currently waiting for a replacement xbox from microsoft and haven't had any problems yet with the service center and customer support. I am not angry that it broke and trust that i will recieve a working one in a week or so. But i would highly recomend buying the extended warranty. It very well could be worth the money. But other than this recent problem my xbox has been working flawlessly. Overall a good product."

What's great about it: great system, great games

"i want to just warn anyone who buys the XBOX360,
BUY A WARRANTY, you will not regret it. Mirosoft has extened their warranty if there is a hardware faliure but it can and most probally will take up to six weeks to get your XBOX360 back. with the best buy warranty it only took two weeks."

What's great about it: Easy set-up, lots of great games, and great graphics.
What's not so great: You have to pay for Xbox Live and Xbox is a pretty expensive hobby.

"The system is very fun and easy to set up. Xbox is very expensive. There are many additions that you will need to purchase sometime in the future, such as memory, xbox live and additional cables. I would definitely recommend purchasing this system to get started. It is not as expensive as other packages and it comes with everything you need to get started right out of the box. The games that come with this package are ok. However, I would recommend buying a couple of other games such as Halo3 (shooting/fighting), NBA Live08(sports game), or Rock Band(family fun)."

"a pretty good console with a well rounded selection of games, though most centralize around shooters and sports.

i bought my own the day after christmas, i had played with firends and family other times and i was for the most part pretty impressed. latley though, xbox live has been having problems. usually it is and excellent and user friendly system, but since alot of people got some for the holidays, the servers or something is causing some difficulties. too many people setting up live accounts.

also from what i've heard from alot of people, the console itself is not up to specs. the red ring of death has caused alot of porblems for many players who bought their systems earlier. there i also alot of stuff to buy if you need to play HD DVDs and what-not.

so far i still like the system, but if you dont mind not having a bigger library of games (given the 360 had a one year head start) and your willing to pay extra for a more seasoned console with a BUILT-IN blu-ray player, i'd go with the PS3."

What's great about it: LOTS OF FUN OUT OF THE BOX
What's not so great: PRICEY ACCESORIES

"I did a LOT of research in the xbox 360 and the PS3, and i decided to go with the xbox 360. The reasons are very straight forward: great games, good value. The moment i started playing it amazed me how much fun i was having nonstop. It comes with Forza 2, and I bought Gears of War and Bioshock. All three are triple A games. I plugged in the ipod and very easily listen to my songs while playing. i have played it for 8 hours non stop and the system worked perfectly. Be aware to place it where it gets good ventilation.
The PS3 might sound better in paper, but in reality the xbox 360 is the one that delivers the Right Now FUN!!!! (LOTS OF FUN). Well gotta go to enjoy my gaming."

What's great about it: XboX Live
What's not so great: Red Rings, to many accessories to buy

"I went to play it on xmas and guess what i got the red ring. Then I went to play my PS3 and guess what it worked. This is the third time I had to send it back. Now I'm without my game for a while. The XboX doesn't come with a hd dvd player built in and you have to pay for XboX live and only has a 20 gb hdd."

"This overall, is an OK gaming system I got it when it first came out and I've had a few little problems with it. I also recently purchased a PS3 and I've had an amazing experience with it, the processor is amazing, and the BluRay is built in along with the power source unlike the Xbox 360 where it is external. I also have to say the PS3 was definitely a better deal, and a lot more worth it. It also looks better and is more stylish."
