Great System - Until 3 Red Lights 09/17/2007

"Purchased this system the day it came out and have loved every minute of play time. Graphics are great and game support (now that the system has been out for almost two years) is getting heated up. Lots of great titles. Too many to pick from actually.
The only complaint I have is that there is always the possibility of the blinking "red lights of death." This just happened to me. Microsoft is honoring their 3-Year extended warranty and will fix my machine, but I will be down 3-4 weeks. That is a long time in the gaming world.
I still recommend the XBOX 360. Just make sure you purchase the Best Buy extended warranty."

Good system...if you buy right 09/17/2007

"I bought the xbox core a when it came out, then bought the hard drive becasue i was short of money at the time i bought the system. It soon gave me the ring of death, froze right when i was about win and sometimes nothing. Since i bought the waranty, i went into best buy and recieved a new core system. It then broke down and i had to go to best buy again.
By this time though they were out of core systems and had to chip in another 100 bucks for the pro. I didnt have the money because i just bought the hard drive...so it was pointless. I recieved the 300 bucks and boughtt an ipod thinking that would be better.
Now the xbox 360 is really good, with titles like halo 3, fable 2 and others coming out you need the 360.
I do not regret saving the 300 bucks for the pro simply because the elite is out. Which is just a little more money, but than again thats Microsoft's plan, which is working well.
Id recommend the elite because they have made system upgrades to the console, as well as having a bigger drive to have the games run smoother. So if you are going for a 360 because of halo 3, go for it. Id just say go for the elite, pays off in the long run. And last, and most importantly...your x box does have a high chance to break down...so buy the WARRANTY!"

Well worth the money 09/16/2007

"I have owned my xbox 360 for nearly 2 years now. In those two years i have had nothing but fun playing this system. Though i did recently have a techincal problem with my original where my AV port inside the system broke and had to bring it in for repairs. But other then that i have had no problems with it. I have found that if you lay it on its side not only does it not freeze but the chances of disks scratching is severly minimized. The ability to customize the system is not only fun but makes the system look better then just its plain white casing. I have actually gone through 3 side board skins and a couple of face panels till i finally got a look i liked the best. The wireless controllers are actually very responsive and reliable. The battery packs last long and are easy to recharge if you buy the play and charge pack. If not batteries work just as well and last pretty long. On top of that the gaming library is one of the best ive seen. So many hit titles as well as many being exclusives just for xbox. Besides the strong game titles the system boasts a add on HDTV player for a cheap price which nearly makes it an all in one system on top of the ability to link to your computer through Zune software. A great advantage if you have music or movies on your computer and want to watch it on your tv. On top of that the xbox live and marketplace are first rate. You can dl an amazing amount of demos and movies and music off the marketplace and it makes it easy and convenient as you can download and play games at the same time.
The negative things i can say about this system is you need to be gentle with it to lower the risk of damaging any of the components. Also after awhile with the high price of games it can become and expensive habit but all in all this comes with the territory of being a gamer. For the price tag and now the new extended warranty this system is definately worth the buy and especially with a strong lineup of games on the way its a cant miss system."

"as some reviews of the product say xbox is 1080p it is not. its highest output resolution is 1080i. even with the hdmi it does not improve the game system's output. it may look and sound better with the hdmi but it is still 1080i"

Worst Purchase Ever 09/16/2007

"This game console is great. If is not being repaired. All my friends have gotten the 3 rings of death (which means the system stops working and has to be sent in for repair). This has happened to me 3 times in the past year. It takes approximately 4 weeks to get back everytime you send it in. If you have xbox live you are not credited for the time lost. Which avereges to about 8 weeks per person. Xbox knows the problem and does not take the appropiete action to solve it."

So much to choose from with this system... 09/16/2007

"Whoever at Microsoft came up with the Achievements for games was a complete genius. Until you play it and experience it they kind of sound pointless. However the achievement base on the Xbox 360 makes playing games even better. It gives a replay value to some games you would not think to play again before. It has a lot of people starting on the highest difficulty so they can get the achievements for that difficulty first (which normally gives you the ones for the lower difficulties as well). Also, it's something to compete with your friends for. Who has the highest points.

Another great point about the Xbox 360 would be the fact that if you pay for the online service (you don't have to pay for it though) it is $50.00 a year, but after a year you can sign up for the Xbox live diamond rewards. This is a place you can get discounts from a lot of places. A few examples, discounts on movie tickets, Discounts on tickets to Six flags and Sea world, discounts on hotels and restraunts, and much, much more. Plus you get a card with your gamer tag on it.

Download Content brings you new levels in games like Rainbow six: Vegas, and Gears of War. New skins and looks for your characters in games like Kameo. And in a lot of racing games you can enjoy downloading new cars. Some of these are free downloads and others do cost money. This feature also gives you the ability to download demos and game trailers for games that are coming out, or that have come out to see if you would like to buy them (not all games come out with a demo, but more and more are doing so).

In the online market place you can also download movies and TV shows sometimes in HD format in fact. These are usually rentals and do expire within a few days or weeks, but if you have an HD TV and not an HD video player, it beats going down to the video store.

Also, when it comes to downloading one more thing is very neat. The Arcade. You can download retro games and even some new ones on here. Microsoft comes out with a new one (sometimes two) every Wednesday and as of right now there are over 70 to choose from. These all have a tryable demo and most of them cost a little bit of money to buy the full version. But at least you know if you like it before you buy it.

The game selection has grown to a very great number; there are games available for any type and age of gamer. From the real young ones with games like Cars, and Surf's Up. To the RPG player with Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, and soon to be Fable 2. To the sports fans with Madden '08, and NHL '08. The list goes on with a lot of quality games for everyone. (I own 28 games currently myself) The graphics, when it comes to games and movies are certainly very good.

The 360 supports up to 1080i on game play and video as it is. If you have a 1080p TV I would probably recommend the Elite or Halo 3 edition of the system as that one has the HDMI input and can support 1080p. The Component cable that comes with the system has an input for optical sound for your surround sound system. Also, this 360 comes with an Ethernet cord for instant connectivity to the Internet.

All in all, if you were looking for a next gen system, I would certainly recommend this system above the other choices. (I have a Nintendo Wii, which I barely ever play mostly because of the Achievements on the 360)"

"This is the hands down best gaming system out today. We have had ours since it came out, and have'nt had any isues. Great selection of games plus you have xbox live arcade to enjoy. If your on the fence, don't be. You'll not regret it."

Guitar Hero II on Xbox 360

"Out of the Wii, Xbox 360, and PS3. The Xbox 360 WINS. With 1080p and Surround Sound, it will look PERFECT on any HDTV. But what really is great about the console is Xbox Live. Yes you have to pay for it but just drop $50 dollars and you're good for a year. Best of all, you don't even have to give out your credit card number!!! Just go to Best Buy and pick up an Xbox Live card and redeem it. IT'S THAT EASY!!! You know what..... JUST GET IT!!!"

"iabsolutely love this system i have not had any problems with it. the gamesare crystal clear it is a great system for teenagers and adults i wouldnot recommend it for younger children a lot of the games are made for teens and up but worth the money"

"The X-Box 360 console is an amazing product. The reason it outdoes Playstation is because of games, graphics, and price. The X-Box 360 has an enormous line of games ranging from sports to sci-fi. Its graphics are 10x better than the Playstation 2 and the its price is unbeatable. The Playstation 3's price on the console and games are some that no one wants to spend that much money on. The X-Box 360's price on games and the console itself are reasonable which makes the X-Box 360 the much better deal!"

"The Xbox 360 is the best piece of technology to come out of Microsoft in the past 10 years. With an amazing graphics engine and media options galore it is definently the winner of this console cycle.
Pros: HD support. Downloads. Big time game titles. Wireless technology integrated. Centralized multiplayer gaming. Good warranty support.
Cons: Xbox Live Silver doesn't allow online gaming on all games. No HDMI without buying another console. No HD-DVD support natively.
In Summary the Xbox 360 is a wonderful console despite some of Microsofts money grubbing by forcing you to pay for multiplayer gaming, playing HD movies, AND to upgrade a connection that should be a free upgrade."

"We could not decide what to buy, this or the PS3. well after doing hours of talking with several different stores and people, we put down our PS3 and picked up the xbox 360. That was the best thing we ever did. The HD ability is great, it allows for great graphics during gameplay. I like that I can download music and listen cleaning. My b/f likes he can go online and play with others when his buddies can't be found. The different things you can do it amazing. xbox is def the system to have for game playing now. We haven't ran into any "glitches" yet,but our friends who have PS3 are wishing they would have bought an xbox 360. Way to go Microsoft for giving us a game system we can use now and not a year from now."

"This is a great gaming console. The games are great and the graphics are amazing. Xbox Live adds a whole new experience for playing video games. Also the marketplace is a brilliant idea. It is great to be able to download new demos and trailers for games and movies coming out soon. Plus the Halo franchise is exclusive to Xbox and who can arguee with that.
