What's great about it: Very powerful
What's not so great: Cheap materials overall

"Just wanted to envourage any buyers to get this nice vacuum cleaner. You'll get nothing as powerful and well-performing for this price.
Actually, it is so powerful that the power cord was sucked accidentally and it was destroyed! Had to cut it and replace the plug. Fortunately, there was still enough cord length from were it was torn. So you can see it is not great quality in terms of materials, but it really is a nice buy for the price!!
VERY RECOMMENDABLE!"

"Had this vacuum for about 6 months and it works great. I was surprised how much dirt it picked up that my old vacuum left. I like the ease of changing bags and throwing away."

What's great about it: Light weight, excellent suction on carpet and through hose attachment
What's not so great: Short cord, short hose

"I did a lot of research before purchasing this one. I had a Eureka Boss Smart for only 18 months when it broke beyond worth the repair fee. This had excellent rating from a well known magazine, was extremely cheap compared to others and I'm very pleased with it. It has amazing suction, was very easy to assemble, the suction through the attachment is the best I've ever had on a vacuum, the light is very bright for cleaning in dark closets or areas, it's so lightweight which is a real plus and the cleaning path is not too big (which is a disadvantage in smaller areas) or small. The suction is so good it does actually move on it's own like others have wrote in their review. The only complaints I have are the cord and hose lengths could be a bit longer. Other than that it's definitely a smart buy, especially for the price. You can't beat it. Others complained about the suction being too much - they must have the brush height adjuster too low as it shouldn't be doing that! The lower the brush height the more it's going to brush the rug! Someone complained about the cord on the back - they also must not have read the directions as it shows exactly how to put the cord on the back so it stays up off the floor. If the manual is read it works much better!"

What's great about it: Cheap and it has strong suction
What's not so great: Clunky, flimsy accersories and broke after 2 months.

"Even though this vacuum is very powerful it is too clunky for a lot of hard to reach places and corners in a typical apartment. It is too powerful for area rugs and it destroys the fibers of some woven area rugs. The vacuum does not fit under the bed without using the flimsy accersories. The main part stopped working after 2 months and I still haven't figured out out to fix it. I am glad that I bought this vacuum on super sale so I don't mind buying a new vacuum and learning my lesson on canister versus upright for apartments. I would recommed this vacuum for large places with a lot of carpet since it does an excellent job suctioning dust and dirt."

What's great about it: suction and price
What's not so great: hoses is not long enough

"So far the suction is great and it picks up the dirt very well. The pricing on the vacuum is also great instead of buying a very expensive one if price is really a issue, but other than that it does the work. I even bought some extra bags and havent used them. The hoses isn't any great because it doesnt stretch long enough because when I'm trying to vacuum my car its always getting stuck and seem to break if I pull it a little bit more harder. The only concern I have is that the suction is so great why doesnt my bag get full since I've already vacuumed with it at least 10 times...and I always empty my dyson at least once everytime I use it. Kinda contradicting."

What's great about it: It has great suction. Almost seems self propelled. A vacuum with a mind of its own...and I like it.
What's not so great: The cord is kind of hard to maneuver on the back of the vacuum for putting it away. Design could be tweeked a bit.

"Overall, this is wonderful vacuum and I have to agree that if I knew someone that needed one I would tell them to get this one. The only thing is how the vacuum is designed for the cord on the back. It is kind of hard to wind cord up with the way they have it designed. Other than that I cannot complain."

What's great about it: Works better than many high-end vacuums, accepts allergen vacuum bags, has all standard tools, easy to operate
What's not so great: Loud, tools are exposed, no hepa filter

"This is an great vacuum made even better by the price. Even though it is almost as inexpensive as they come, it has superior suction power even over higher priced brands like Dyson. The handle base has a tilt switch on/off, and it works great even with allergen filtration bags. Easy access to the vacuum bags is available by a push buttom release on the front. The automatic roller creates forward momentum for the vacuum that feels like power assist even though it is not. It is one of the more lightweight vacuums I've had.
There are a few things that could be added to make this vacuum tops of all in all classes. For one, the tools are exposed, although I've not had any problems with them falling off while vacuuming or hitting them either. It also does NOT have a HEPA filter, but my son with his asthma has not noticed a difference. The cord is not short or long. It would also be nice to be able to turn off the automatic roller on some hardwood flooring, because although most of the time it works great, sometimes the moving roller flings dirt forward rather than picking it up.
However, the big downside to this vacuum is that it is LOUD. It is one of the louder vacuums I've owned. It is not deafening, but it is definitely not quiet.
I still think this is one of the better vacuums you can get, especially for the money."

What's great about it: Good suction power, light and easy to handle
What's not so great: Cheap construction, plastic bag covers falls off

"This vacuum cleaner is okay for the money. It does what it is supposed to do. It is very light and easy to manuever, but feels extremely cheap. The belt broke within the first two days of use. Have replaced the belt and haven't had any problems since. It is very loud, as many of the other reviews have said, however I have never owned a quiet vacuum cleaner. Suction power is good. Doesn't seem to have any problems picking up dirt, dog hair, etc. The front plastic bag cover doesn't latch on very tight and has a tendency to fall off during use. Also, the attachment hose is very short and seems to crimp easily. It does the job I bought it for, but would probably spend a little more money for better quality next time."

What's great about it: Performance. Price.
What's not so great: Hose is too short. A little loud.

"I just moved on my own to an apartment and the carpeting is new. I wanted a good vacuum but did not want to spend "Dyson" money for use in a apartment. I researched and came across this beauty. I read the reviews here and decided to make the purchase. What a great deal! The suction on this very inexpensive vacuum is phenomenal!
I've been using it for several months now and it picks up dirt like you wouldn't believe. No pets or children so that makes life for this vacuum a lot easier I would think. It is a little loud and the hose is very short so using the attachments can be a challenge. But for the price I paid, these shortcomings are tolerable. The quality is ok but again, for the price?.... Looking to see how it holds up over time.
Looking for a good, inexpensive, light/med duty vacuum? This is the one to get."

What's great about it: Really sucks up the dirt!
What's not so great: Shorter cord than I would like

"If you are looking for a budget friendly vacuum, then look no further! This machine really does the trick for a whole lot less!
It works great on carpets ... really gets the dirt. It's not the best on the bare floors, but hat vacuum really is?
The only "con" I would say is that while other cords are usually 30 feet - this one is only 24. Not a huge deal, just a little inconvenient at times. I will sacrifice this little inconvenience for the price!
I would definitely recommend this vacuum."

What's great about it: Quality for value, stairs contrallable, friendly :)
What's not so great: Not great on bare floor (but no vacuum is)

"To sum up the quality and value of this vacuum… I named it. I call her Helga. This is the only competent upright vacuum I have ever purchased and I’m not even persnickety (love that word)! I needed to be economical with cost and I am absolutely thrilled that I finally got more than the money’s worth for a household necessity. The suction power is considerable! I was particularly impressed with the suction capability of the wand (not to mention ease of use and proportionate extension). In addition to an upright, I always used a canister vacuum to get high up places, furniture, stairs, etc… This is because, before now, I have never had an upright that had efficient wand / hose functionalities. Now I only have to use one vacuum. The vacuum is lightweight, yet durable. It is not finicky about the items to be sucked up. I have 3 children under the age of 10... I have had this vacuum 3 months and have not had to take it apart) not even once! Not great on bare floors but that is what brooms are for!"

What's great about it: Does what it should do at little cost
What's not so great: Hose too short

"Has great suction power, very good on pet hair, works better than more expensive models. Works real well on hard wood floors, especially on kitchen floor. It's not heavy to lug around, is a little self propelled. Was so happy with product, purchased a second one for my cottage and another for daughter who has new apartment. Cant say anything bad about it, except the attachment hose is too short to reach high places. A very good buy for the money. Blue color is not bad a color, have seen worse. Power cord is long, so your not unplugging and replugging constantly."

Love this!!   08/23/2008
By Momof3dogs2cats from California

What's great about it: great at picking up animal hair and dust
What's not so great: hard to open bag door

"I am inlove with bagged cleaners having used bagless at work. I love the ease of just throwing away the full bag and not having to worry about cleaning filters and having dust fly everywhere. I had my old hoover for about 15 years and when looking for a new bagged hoover I had a heck of a time. I found this baby and bought it right then and there. I didn't relalize how much my old vac was missing. I love and will always own a Hoover!! The only problem I have is the door you pop off to change the bag is a little hard to open. It's does make a little more nosie than my old hoover, but it's a vacuum. If you have pets or children this is a must have!"

Good vacuum for price   07/20/2008
By CheckingItOut

What's great about it: picks up well, light weight
What's not so great: noisy, hot air from vent

"With alot of research online and also at local vacuum stores, this Hoover gives you alot for your money. It is light weight, not many vacuums out there can claim this, except for the very expensive brands that are approx 8 lbs and cost hundreds of dollars. This vacuum is lighter weight than most any other vacuum, bag or bagless, with a very good price. The only drawbacks are the noise (it is very loud when running), and it generates hot air from the vent (also when running). But the pros are that it picks up well, we have a full carpet house and it does all the rooms without having to empty the bag until the end. It is easy to carry upstairs and so far has not had any problems. We've only had it a few weeks, but it seems to do a good job and didn't cost a fortune. We said we will see if it lasts a year and if not, will go and buy one of the more expensive brands, so time will tell. All I can say is it is better than the bagless brands, lighter weight and does what it is suppose to do which is vacuum. All at a affordable price. Thanks HOOVER!!!"

Great little vacuum for the price   06/26/2008
By patrolman from Volusia County, FL

What's great about it: strong suction, easy to push, simple operation
What's not so great: noisy, short power cord and hose, ugly color to some

"bought this first because of Consumer Reports recommendation, then because of all of the favorable reviews it's gotten on this site and others - no complanits or regrets at all - does the job and replaces much more expensive ones that wore out - you won't be sorry for the price - not the best looking thing but who cares? it's a vacuum not art - planning to send my daughter one for her first apartment"

Very good vacuum   06/13/2008
By ERH81 from Las Vegas, NV

What's great about it: Low price, works very well
What's not so great: Cheap construction, short hose, noisy

"For the price, this is a great vacuum. I'm sure if you decided to spend $400, you could get one much better but for those of us who can't justify that, this one is perfect.

It is very noisy, as other reviews have stated. And the hose is short but comes with two extenders so I really haven't had a problem with that. It's very lightweight and does seem to be self-propelled even though it's really not. It picks up absolutely everything with e
