Good but not dockable

What's great about it: easy to use; no thinking involved - it decides what to play next - great for long Airplane trips
What's not so great: Won't dock with my Bose station or most Ipod alarm clocks
"Overall happy for the price - but unfortunate that you cannot dock it."

Reliable; Limited Functionality

What's great about it: Simple and easy to use
What's not so great: Tracks lose their numerical order
"I have been using my Shuffle for about 6 mos now. This unit was extremely simple to set up and use. The simplicity of operation makes this a good choice for those doing sports or exercising, but do not need to access a screen when doing so. The only controls are volume, track forward/reverse, random plan and standard play. You will not be able to directly access a specific album, but instead you will have to advance through all tracks to access a specific song. Still, it has its purpose which is more utility in nature. This unit is well made and will surely last."

The easiest iPod to use ever.

What's great about it: Great small design makes it so even a 3 year old can use it.
What's not so great: Since it is a shuffle it has no screen to pick out your songs.
"Wow, for such a small little item you get more then I would ever think out of it. Isn't hard to use like some MP3 players. Great design features, comes in other colors and just works great attached to you pants or belt loop. You can even use it as a Flash drive to store info on and transfer to another computer."

What's great about it: Light weight; small; holds large amount of music; recharges quickly
What's not so great: Cannot see amount of battery power left; cannot see what songs are playing
"Would definately recommend to anyone using their ipod mostly for exercising or commuting to work (public transit). Would recommend buying some sort of pouch/protector, as the player itself is very small."

Awesome Little Gig !!!!
08/16/2008
By UnderTheHoode

What's great about it: small, lightweight, durable, holds charge for weeks
What's not so great: earpods - invest in a Sony soft earpod for best results
"This is an awesome little 1GIG player!!!! I've owned mine for about 18 months. It clips straight to your clothing and it will NOT come off unless you unclip it. You can run, jump, lift weights - it will NOT SKIP. Holds about 200 songs -- I still have not filled it up; plays for hours and I charge it about once every 3 months. Easy to charge - put on it's own little doc station and plug USB plug into your computer - takes about 30 mins to charge. Big operational button on the front for easy use and convenient for big fingers (men). Other reviews state doesn't have a screen with song name... obvious when you make the purchase there is no display screen, so I don't consider that a negative feature... Earpods are the negative feature - they're the standard, hard plastic earpods you get with any MP3 player - invest in a nice set of Sony soft earplugs and this little GIG will block out all external sounds and you will feel like you're listening to a Bose headphone system. No CD software to load on your computer... just plug the doc station into your computer and it will connect to the internet site and set up the software straight from the website onto your computer... easy to use drag and drop software from your CDR drive to your i-Pod shuffle screen. You don't even have to read instructions to use this thing. It pretty much does everything on it's own when you plug it into your computer. You can also purchase songs online if you want; I transfer mine from my CD's using the drag and drop method. I have not had a bit of trouble out of this little thing."

What's great about it: Light weight
What's not so great: Unable to view the song playing
"I'm a athletic runner and I love my shuffle! It keeps me pumped up and motivated to run that extra mile or two. I can't believe how light weight and convenient it is for me to use on a daily basis. I would be lost without it!"

"The iPod shuffle is small and really convenient to take with you... I use it daily when I am running, and I have an arm band which gets it completely out of the way! The battery lasts such a long time, I only have to charge it once every 2 or 3 weeks (and I use it every day for about an hour)... the only downfall is that you can't see what songs you're listening to... but if you're like me, it won't matter what songs you listen to while you're running/working out."

What's great about it: inexpensive, clip, compact

great for kids

What's great about it: Great price, good number of songs
What's not so great: Not compatible with systems
"I think this is a great starter kit for kids. It's a low investment, holds enough songs to keep them entertained and they feel like they have something really personal. It's great for their alone time, as well as in the car. My 8 year old LOVES her iPod. Only thing that's frustrating is I cannot pop it onto our MP3 music stereo thing to play or charge--have to charge it on its own docking only."

What's great about it: it plays music.
What's not so great: size is easy to lose, NOT easy to know when it is charged, no lcd, small memory, i am unable to find a wall charger
"I got this for christmas, and was very happy at the moment. Then all of the dissapointments set in. It doesnt have a screen which makes it hard to find a specific song. Its so dang small that I lose is very often. I have looked and looked for a wall charger and/ or a car charger and cannot find anything. its really stupid on trips that the only way to charge it is plugging it into a computer!
Overall, I hate it and am getting a nano ASAP!"

Best for workouts

What's great about it: Compact, Clip, Price
What's not so great: No LCD Screen
"When I recieved this shuffle I was pretty happy with the purchase, but over time I have finally realized that you need an LCD screen to truly have an mp3 player that will be used for something other than working out. But, being used as a workout device it is one of the best for the task. Over all it's a decent music device with some limitations."

A Great Auxillary iPod
07/30/2008
By Applejuice

What's great about it: Size, Clip, Price
What's not so great: The Obvious, Included Headphones
"I Purchased this iPod Shuffle after a couple years of trying to work out/run/be on the go with my 3rd generation 20gb iPod. It just wasn't right! The old beast of burden is a great iPod for travelling, car rides, et cetera, but not a great workout companion. I am extremely pleased with what my fifty dollars got me. Add a nice pair of earbuds and you have a great iPod for many occasions! Would buy again if I lost mine (which could very well happen given its diminutive stature)."

What's great about it: light, easy to use, sounds wonderful
What's not so great: no display of song playing
"This ipod is so small and light, yet the sound coming from it is full and satisfying. I love that it clips on and it is so light that you can't even feel it on you. I am very happy with the sound, I was afraid that it wouldn't sound as good as my traditional 80g ipod, but it is wonderful. I am very pleased !"
