What's great about it: Better than point and click with on screen keyboard
What's not so great: I have only used on a limited basis
The key pad has helped when on line and need to type passwords, id's, etc. I have only used on a limited basis to do so. Have not used in any games or web-surfing, while on Live X-box. If you want to have a keyboard at you disposal when using X-Box or Playstation, etc., this will surfice.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I dont know what happened to microsoft but ever since they moved away from the proprietary headset from the whitw xbox360 the headsets have been garbage. I bought this to replace one that i used for about a week before the 2.5mm jack snapped off in my controller. Then i had to do an exchange as the one I bought had a bad mic switch. I like the keypad though, even though its worthless for shooters because for some reason, when the chatpad is on you cannot hold down the A or B button. They only work as momentary switches. I tried 3 different controllers, all the same.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Easy typing and messaging and good price for headphones
What's not so great: you have to be careful with the headphones
The chat pad is AWESOME. i used to always have to send messages to my friends, and it always took 5 minutes just to type everything in but now with the chat pad, it only takes less than a minute to send messages. it is also helpful for facebook, twitter, bing, and netflex. And most people say that with the headphones it always break. i still have mine because what i do is, when im done using them, i firmly put them in a small box and then put it in my drawer so it never brakes.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is probably one of my favorite Xbox 360 accessories. It makes typing out messages a breeze, and is easy to use. Just make sure to use a little force when attaching it to your controller. Don't worry, your controller won't break.

What's great about it: Very easy to use.
What's not so great: installation to Xbox controller is slightly challenging.
The chat pad works great, much easier, and faster to use to communicate than xbox on-screen keypad display! It attaches to Xbox controller--make sure it's connected nice and snug otherwise it won't work. Can use in conjunction with headphones. The headphones also works great for the price. A definite bargain and a necessity when playing Xbox online.
I would recommend this to a friend!

My son has used the chat pad a few times, but finds that the keyboard is small and not that easy to use.

This keyboard is a million times better than that stupid thing for playstation. It doesn't interfere with holding the controller or charging and the keys are backlit when in use, easy to type on and feels very firm when attached

What's great about it: Much easier to message on Xbox
What's not so great: Must insure how the unit is seated to get good connection
I have not used the headset, but the keypad is a must if you are messaging or using Facebook through your Xbox. It is a very snug fit to the controller and must be seated completely, which I missed when first connecting. Once that was corrected the unit has functioned flawlessly.
I would recommend this to a friend!

with keeping up with everything Xbox I bought it for the Chat pad only because it went weel with my Red/ black controller I have a good headset that I don't wish to replace but if you have Xbox live and don't have a headset and chat pad it only good if you have no friends but it makes everything easier and fun get yourself one if 29.99 is to high then wait for a sale its also a great gift for your xbox fan

What's great about it: Ease of use, quality of headset, perfect to simplify typing.
What's not so great: Line-in mute swith, should be on the pad.
I was sick and tired of using the Dpad for entering codes, searching for movies, typying for social networking programs and decided to get this package with pad and headset. The headset is great quality, thought it to be better than the stand alone headset. The pad was great! It made everything regarding typing SOOOO much easier. It may feel a little clunky at first, but it doesn't take longer than an hour of game play to get used to it.
The only thing I do not like is the mute switch in line with the headset. The pad does not have a mute key and that is something that made it easy to switch between mute/unmute with the stand-alone headset.
I would recommend this to a friend!

This was a great purchase I made. I mainly wanted a headset, but this came bundled with a headset for just $10 more.
The keyboard fits fantastic on the controller, it doesn't get in the way at all. It may feel a bit clunkier though. Not to mention it also glows in the dark.

What's great about it: fits perfectly on controller, mic slot on messenger kit, free month of online play.
What's not so great: drains battery faster, heavier controller, hard to put on, and a bit uncomforable in the back.
I just bought this today, and needless to say it is amazing! This product has surely increased my Xbox experience.
First off, when you're buying the kit, look for one that has a green tag that says you can get a free month of online play. Some of these have it, others don't. I was lucky and got the last one at my local store with a green tag. If you are looking for the code, it is literally on the other side of the sticker. Once you open the package, look through the plastic and you should find it. It's kind of hard to read, but it's there alright.
For those that don't know, this messenger kit provides the chatpad, a wired headset, and if it has the green tag, a month of Xbox LIVE.
The chatpad itself was kind of hard to put on, considering I had to jam it in there, but trying to be careful not to damage anything is kind of hard. Once it's on, there is no possible way for it to come of, so don't worry!
I bought this mainly for the headset (It's the same one as the default one you get with your Xbox) but for the extra ten bucks to get a chatpad and month of live too was great! This would truly be the golden purchase if it was lowered to around $25 or so.
As for doing the typing with the chatpad, it can type pretty fast without having to have any texting skill at all (like me.) Now I prefer to use the text messages to friends instead of voice messages! It even has lights on it, which is really helpful for those weekends where you spend all night playing. The light goes off after awhile, saving you battery juice. It does drain your batteries faster, but I use Microsoft's rechargeable batteries with the charge 'n' go or even the quick charge kit. It can really be a lifesaver!
You're probably sick of me babbling on, so overall this was a great purchase and I'm pretty happy with it. I would say this would be amazing if Microsoft had a black messenger kit, to match my controller and my Xbox 360 Elite, such as they had already done for the rechargeable battery packs. Overall, a four out of five stars rating. Good job, Microsoft!

I bought this solely for the keypad, which unfortunately isn't standalone. I constantly travel to my friends' houses, and it really helps recovering your Gamertag because your keystrokes aren't shown on the TV screen. It also helps a lot when writing text messages. The keypad is comfortable, illuminated, and designed well. It also has a plug for your mic, so you can have both the headset and keypad plugged in at the same time.
The headset however is horrible. It has poor quality, it's irritating, and fragile. I wish the keypad could be a standalone accessory. Regardless, this is a great value.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's not so great: Not a big fan of the volume control on the included headset.
Love this thing for Facebook, Twitter, and sending meesages on XBOX Live. It is slightly difficult to put on the first time and then it is easy. Great product.
