"I use this on my business trips. Last time out, used it to navigate from Boston to Rochester NY. It took me everywhere I wanted to go without a hitch. After a meeting, I was asked if I would need directions back to my hotel, but my answer was.....don't need it, I have a GPS. I especially like two features, the first is, it asks if I need to arrive at a certain time and lets me know if I'm going to be late and the second is that it always keeps track of my current speed. The speed indicator lights up red when I'm going to fast for the present speed limit. The Mapshare feature along with a choice of different voices makes it even better. I chose to use Vicki because her voice gets over the pitch of the engine and I like her English accent when she says. "Join the Motorway""

What's great about it: Easy to use
What's not so great: Map are inaccurate

"I liked the easy to use features but as far as the maps , they are not very accurate, maps are out of date about 4years behind, incorrect street names etc. wants to take you the easiest route but not the fastest.
have used other brands that are older and more accurate..its ok in the city but rural areas not so good"

"I love my TomTom One XL-S. I work in the emergency services field and reply on my TomTom to get us to our calls with the fastest route possible. I also use it for long distance critical care transports and I has always taken me the right way everytime. I would not traded it for anyhting."

What's great about it: Value for the dollar, wide screen, voice prompts
What's not so great: pronunciation of words, best routes, traffic updates

"I like this unit a lot, I would prefer a more user friendly manual with this unit, that way I could use more of the features this unit has. It's totally possible that this unit has no traffic updates at all. Overall I like it.
PS: TOLEDO is pronounced TOE-LEE-DOE not TA-LEE-DA"

"The GPS was easy to use and easy to update. While the pronounciations weren't always good the voice was clear and easy to understand. Especially when traveling in areas we didn't know. Good investment!"

"This is a good unit, to replace a Garmin which was not as versitile. Friends tend to enjoy the foreign accents on voices available. I like the best route recommendations. Not difficult to learn the operation, even without the booklet."

"Very worthwhile unit! I've driven to places I had no idea how to get to and this unit tell me the name of the streets to turn on as I approach the street. Never gotten lost with it. Very reliable and can be updated via your computer."

What's great about it: Decent Price, Great Features
What's not so great: Battery Life, Time to Connect to Satelites, Major City Confusion

"I have had this unit for a little under a year now and I love it. It gets me anywhere I need to be, and if I miss a turn, it will automatically calculate a new route for me. The only thing I really have to complain about this unit is the battery life. Don't plan on using this unattached to ofter, but I always stay plugged in, so it's good. It does take some time to connect to the satelites, but when it does, it's golden. The only other problem I have experiencing is driving with it through Boston, MA. I was experiencing a problem where the unit would say I was on a road that I was not on. I am guessing that is because of how close the roads are to each other. Other than that, never had a problem and I have several friends who bought this because of my recommendation!"

"Awesome product, very easy to use. I was fortunate to receive this as a gift for my birthday, best gift ever!

What's great about it: It was a better investment, than I thought!
What's not so great: can't think of any....

"My new "one XL-S GPS, by TOM-TOM....is working out well for me, I didn't want a more advanced model because it is the first I've ever had, and was afraid it would be more complicated . This model is great! not difficult to use. very acurate, again most of all it has everything you need and so very easy to use. Having got lost again!

What's great about it: Just about everything
What's not so great: Tries to send me on unpaved roads in Minneapolis

"If your looking for a cheap but decent GPS, then this one is the way to go. It tries to send me on unpaved roads, where there are no unpaved roads for miles, but the GPS might just need to be updated over the internet. Overall, I would recommend this for someone looking for a GPS but does not want to spend too much on one"

What's great about it: Easy to program & recalibrates as you drive with new directions if you choose to not accept what's been offered
What's not so great: A little oversized and weight of screen makes it hard to place in certain places of glass

"Over all this is a great tool for traveling. Have used it several times now and would recomend it to you. The screen is large and easy to see, color choices for screen make it east to see in day and night. Easy set-sp just plug and play. Great choice for a GPS system."

Not bad, could be better... 07/20/2008

What's great about it: Affordable GPS
What's not so great: Routing choices

"I am not thrilled with the results this product produces when planning directions/routes. 9 times out of 10 it will tell me there are no routes available when I KNOW, obviously there are roads leading to the destination that I want to arrive at. Even after choosing "avoid unpaved roads" it lead me down 6 miles of dirt, unpaved roads. System was not compatible with my laptop for map updates. I use this system because I am an EMT in Atlanta and must be able to arrive at destinations in a timely manner, however, while using this product I must also use a map book for back up.. which kind of defeats the purpose of having this product at all. GPS Navigation is obviously a great idea, however, there is much room for improvements."

What's not so great: Sometimes (not usually) does not calculate the fastest way.

Large Screen-Easy to Use GPS w/voice 07/07/2008

What's great about it: easy to program & recalibrates as you drive with new dir if you choose to not accept what offered
What's not so great: used in DC had problem with slow info where had to make quick decisions on unmarked roads but fixed any mistakes

"This is an oversized GPS with voice. Very easy to program out of the box. I used Jane voice because I am used to being told what to do by my wife :) . Works great and recalibrates directions on the fly when you choose to not accept directions as offered.
VERY IMPORTANT!!!
DO NOT LEAVE PLUGGED INTO THE LIGHTER SOCKET FOR LONGER THAN 30 MINUTES BECAUSE ALL GPS UNITS CAN OVERHEAT!! I START OFF WITH IT PLUGGED IN, UNPLUG AFTER 30 MIN THEN PLUG IN AGAIN AFTER 30 MIN. THE BATTERY IS LONG LASTING AND THIS SYSTEM ENSURES THAT YOU DO NOT FRY/OVERHEAT GPS!!"

Great GPS System 06/23/2008

What's great about it: Easy to use, excellent software, wide screen, text-to-speech
What's not so great: none of importance

"Bought the ONE XL-S for my wife to use, now we both use it. Very easy to use, if you get lost using this you have either programmed something wrong or you need to update the unit using the software loaded on your computer. Bought this simply to use for directions to destinations. Bluetooth feature not compatible with our cell phones, while a disappointment, was not a concern. Text-to-speech feature is a must have! Wide screen is excellent, easier to view than the standard size screen! We use the free updates for the satellite locations and roads, which should be done on a regular basis to be up-to-date. We highly recommend this unit, which we have to family and friends."

Tom Tom sucks 06/07/2008

What's great about it: not much
What's not so great: Too much to list here

"First of all I was drawn to this unit for all the features it had verses some of the other models. Don't get drawn in by all that extra stuff you don't need.

Isn't a GPS supposed to keep you from getting lost? Tom Tom got me lost I'd say about 50% of the time, and when it did work, it took you on some crazy route, that wasted so much time, I'd probably get there faster even if I did get lost on my own.

The best thing that happened to me that was my tom tom got stolen, so I bought a Garmin, and have not had one issue with it."
