Fast, Quiet Printer

What's great about it: Great instructions on setting up. Very fast. Very quiet.
"This is an awesome printer. HP printers rock. The cd that came with the printer shows you exactly how to install the printer. For non-techies like myself, it was great.
It is very easy to load the paper. Another nice feature is that it shoots out the first piece of paper very quickly when it is in energy conservation mode."

Best Printer for the money

What's great about it: Fast, reliable, sturdy, cheap, win7 64 bit support
What's not so great: Everything is great
"I print off shipping labels mainly for eBay and recipets for my customers. I fix computers for a living and deal with a lot of stuff. I liked this printer so much I bought my fiance one too since she just started selling Avon,haha!
I print about 10 to 30 pages a day and it would suck if I had an inkjet. Who needs color anyway?! I do have an inkjet but have never printed with it. I just use it for the scanner,lol. The P1006 is the best laserjet for the money and it's so cute too with it's tiny footprint. It fits anywhere. Make sure you go directly to HP's website to download the lastest drivers!"

Win7 Driver Issues

What's great about it: it's an HP laser printer
What's not so great: the printer driver is apparenlty buggy, 2 of 3 users are having print issues
"it looks like there are print driver issues with this printer in Win7 64bit at this point. 2 of the 3 users we gave these printers are having problems getting stuff to print.
As with my previous HP printer purchases are the hardware is solid. If HP can get the driver issues resolved I'm get it would be a great printer."

What's not so great: Nothing I could think about considering the price

Excellent entry level laser printer

What's great about it: Two years later and I just now am changing the toner
What's not so great: Will not accomodate wider than letter/legal paper
"I do not print an excessive amount of documents but probably more than most. It took two years to deplete the toner cartridge that came with the printer. The quality is great too, when I print tickets or coupons usually I'm the only person in line whose bar code is clear enough that the scanner has no trouble reading it. This is true even in economode with cheap copy paper."

What's not so great: Constantly has print errors - reloaded driver multiple times
"Loved my old LaserJet 1012. New LaserJet P1006 very disappointing and unreliable. First one dead out of box. Second one has given me lots of trouble. Constant print errors. Reinstalled printer driver multiple times. Cartridge also seems to have short life"

What's not so great: USB Won't Work
"I have having the worst time trying to install this printer, I have a HP Photo Printer installed and it works just fine, My camera works just fine but for some reason the laser printer will not work. I can get as far as checking for installed printers and then an error message to plug in the USB cord, I have plugged and unplugged and powered on and off, It won't work at all and I am extremely frustrated, I am to the point where I will have to return it, Maybe it is just a defective printer! Or is it the USB Cord? I can't figure it out on my own....."

What's great about it: FAST, FAST, FAST, EASY SET UP, UNBELIEVABLE PRICE
"Maybe it's my computer, but this printer is FAST! It printed 11 pages in about 10 seconds. It was so fast that I first thought it was shooting out blank pages (until I turned the page over). The quality of the prints was also excellent. The toner cartridges cost about as much as two inkjet cartriges, but print about 1500 pages. I find this very economical. Try it, its great!!!!
I highly recommend it."

What's great about it: Marginally faster than non-laser printer
What's not so great: Tech Support, print quality, NO OWNERS MANUAL INCLUDED
"This printer embodies the old adage that you get what you pay for. I was looking for an inexpensive laser option for my home office. The printer arrived with no owner's manual and a site where multiple volumes of instructions could be downloaded. When I contacted HP about a hard copy of the manual, I was directed to the site. I also had problems printing from certain applications, and HP support was lousy. I was unable to communicate with the representative in English and he provided non-responsive pre-formed responses to my questions. After using the printer for about a month with moderate volume of printing, pages began to streak and printed with lines across them. Removing and shaking the cartridge helps, but this must be done every 7-8 pages or so. It is far too early for the cartridge to have run out, and with no owners manual, I am at a loss as to how to remedy this problem. The printer has proved to be a huge hassle and I would advise anyone considering the purchase to opt for a more expensive (non HP) option."

What's great about it: Easy to use, low price, fabulous quality, fast copies, and duplexes and prints booklets.
What's not so great: The toner is a bit pricey but lasts a long time so it is not too painful too often.
"I bought this printer for school work. I have an inkjet printer that I thought was OK but was never thrilled with. Plus it went through ink like crazy. I decided to find a nice, low-cost laser printer that would last me for the next couple years. I found this printer and could honestly not be happier. It is fast, produces great quality copies and will print on both sides - it is a manual feed but it is super easy to use and I have not had even a single misfeed and I do almost all my copies 2-sided. It is small and fits neatly on a bookshelf next to my desk so it is not a space-hog. If this thing ever breaks, I would certainly not hesitate to get another one exactly like it. I have recommended it to two of my classmates and they purchased and love it as much as I do. Best purchase I have made in a long time."

"I've ALWAYS haves such bad luck with all kinds of printers.
This printer was easy to set up and printed very well the first time, its also pretty fast.
I've had this for well over a year now and i know that after 3 months or so the printer will stop working for each computer u try it on, because it stopped working on my laptop and old destop, but i'm pretty sure it can be solved by reinstalling everything which is pretty annoying.
overall it is a pretty good printer if it will work"

My only negative is I bought a pack of HP multipurpose paper, and it's wavy and the first several pages are creased. What the heck!"

What's great about it: Easy set up, compatible to Vista, prints pages quickly, doesn't take up much space, and it's quiet.
What's not so great: It's not a colored printer.
"I recently replaced my old laptop with a new one. However, my new laptop came with Windows Vista and my Epson laptop was not compatible. Between work, school and personal projects, it became frustrating that I could not print using my new laptop. My boss ended up getting this printer from Best Buy for me as a birthday present, knowing fully well that it would benefit me for work and school purposes. I can't begin to express how happy I am to have this printer and many thanks to my Boss for getting it for me.
This printer is a small dainty thing and it doesn't take up much room like my old Epson printer. This is a major plus, because I live in a tiny apartment. Setting it up was a breeze. The installation CD was user friendly, so anyone who's not tech savvy could set this printer up with ease. The printer is quiet, which is great when you're printing late at night. When you're living in an apartment, your neighbors can hear everything. This printer prints pages fast like lightning. This is helpful for me when it comes to school, because I'm always doing essays and large scaled projects. Not to mention, I was able to network my printer for when I work remotely from home.
However, this printer does not print colored pages. Which is totally fine with me.
If you're an on-the-go kind of person, you need your prints quick, and you don't require any fancy smancy stuff... then this is the printer to get!"

What's great about it: It is easy to set up.
What's not so great: Continues to jam repeatedly though there is nothing wrong, now will not even turn on.
"It worked great until it got its first paper jam, then afterward, it continued to jam though there was nothing wrong. Now it will not even turn on and I have only owned the printer for a few months. Even before it stopped working, It would take up to five to ten minutes to even print."
