Turtle Beach Ear Force X3 Wireless Headphones for Xbox 360

Model: TBS-2065
SKU: 8529979
UPC: 731855020652
When it comes to in-game excitement, fans of Xbox Live know that there's no substitute for thrilling audio. From loud explosions to the voices of your comrades, there's nothing like sound to make your heart pound during gameplay. With these lightweight headphones, you can keep up the Xbox 360 intensity and keep the peace in your home. A powerful, compact IR transmitter sends an infrared wireless signal with no lag between the audio and the on-screen action. Enjoy low-interference transmissions that enable you to wander away from the console without missing a second of sound. The stereo expander feature creates a wide stereo panorama, so sound effects, such as rain, wind and background music, seem like they're being originated directly from the headphones. In addition, selectable bass boost creates rich, deep bass for dramatic music as well as gun shots, car crashes and other sonic elements. When you want to communicate, dynamic talkback level control automatically increases Xbox Live chat volume levels during loud moments, so you can hear comrades and competitors alike. Hearing yourself talk is also made more convenient with microphone monitoring, which enables you to hear your own voice over other sounds. When it's time to take a break, automatic power shutoff preserves battery power so you'll be ready for another round of gameplay.

first off let me warn all those with plasma screens; these will not work for you!!! it is even mentioned in the instructions and on the turtle beach site. Something about plasma's ommitting a signal that interferes with the infrared signal of the headphones.
I was looking for a pair of headphones to use for late night gaming. Was initially going for the $59 wired set but figured for couple more bucks I'd just go wireless.
setup: Set up was easy and took minutes.
Sound Quality: not impressed but i will say that i did not have them long enough to break them in & did experience major interference from the plasma screen which did render the headphone ususable. When i was able find a good "signal" I did experience slight white noise when nothing was playing. Additionally, i think you'd always get better sound quality through a wired imo.
Price: based on my experience, i'd suggest purchasing a nice pair of regular noise isolating headphones if you can do without the mic. For the $90-100 you can get yourself a pretty sweet pair of regular headphones but you just wouldn't be able to chat but at least you'd be able to use them for other things.
conclusion: I can't really give a fair assessement of these headphones because of the fact that they do not function properly with the use of a plasma screen. I returned my set and purchased a pair of regular headphones which work perfectly!! Would be nice if the manufacturer put a little note somewhere on the box warning potential buyers of the Plasma issue. Luckily I was able to return them to Best Buy for a full refund.
What's great about it: concept of playing games with headphones & mic
What's not so great: They don't work with Plasma Screens!

This is the best headset i have ever had on the 360. Ive gone through about 4 headsets with the other brands but this one, love. i dont care what other people say about it. The only thing is the battery life but other than that great. i also like it tells you when your battery is low the red light on the right will stop flashing and just be a solid red 100% great
What's great about it: great
What's not so great: short battery life

pros:
these are very useful i play first person shooters and you can hear everything grenades clinking off the ground people trying to sneak up on you ect. they are pretty confortable and very light weight and the color matches your xbox they also reach a pretty good distance from the reciever
cons:
they are kinda bulky even though they are light weight and you really cannot feel them on your head they are still huge and even though they say they are wireless they still need to be pluged in to the controller for vouce comunications
they are worth the money and i would recomend them to anyone even if you have to save you money forever to get them
What's great about it: these are very easy to set up and they give you an edge up on the compitition
What's not so great: they are kinda bulky

I have gone through three of these things... I love the fact of how u can hear the sound of the game through the headphones at high quality level. The one thing that I absolutely HATE is how easy they break, its like stepping on them breaking but the first one i got would make a scratchy sound in the X-box Live Party and the second one When i talk through the mic my voice would be muffled as if i was trying to talk while holding my hand over my mouth. I dont quite know if it just the way i handle them, but i never step on them or throw them, i just use them normally but that doesnt seem to help the Mic stay in condition, am I the only having these problems? or if so Does anyone have any helpful advice? I might recomend these to a friend but i would remind them to get a warranty.
What's great about it: Crystal clear sound, comfort, and easy control of the mic.
What's not so great: Not- Durable, not reliable, breaks easily by manufacture's fault
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have a 1 year old that sleeps in the room right next to my gaming room so these are a must. They are stereo but the sound is amazing. You can feel/hear the bass which adds to the effect and you can hear the quieter sounds such as an enemy walking around. Definitely a must buy if your looking for headphones and wants something with quality. The reviewers that complained about the headset dying in a few days are isolated incidents. Your ears can hurt after a few hours though.
What's great about it: Almost everything
What's not so great: When the batteries get lower on life, the ability to talk is gone which can get annoying

I just recently purchased the Turtle Beach x3 Headset. From my first experiences, they worked quite well. You can easily tune sound expansion and bass. The bass is very good on these. If you play Guitar Hero or Rockband they really make it sound like your listening to music on your Ipod instead of a television set.
For the product itself, I feel the price should be around 80 dollars instead of 100. The padding is synthetic leather, a wireless IR adapter is only about 5 dollars, and I don't feel the actual materials used should be priced that high. The design is good however.
One thing that many people complain about is battery power. The batteries actually last a long time. Also, just buy a 4 pack of rechargeable triple A's and alternate them off when one set dies. You'll never have a battery problem.
Lastly, The padding on the earphone itself is the only problem I have. They should be deeper around the edges so that the inside of the speaker does not touch your ear. It leads to discomfort after several hours and you have to take a break with them, or it will continue to hurt. I think this is something they improved on the x4's however.
Besides that I think everything is up to par. It's a must buy.
What's great about it: Very Full, Deep Bass + Voice Comm. Features
What's not so great: Padding could be deeper, hurts ears after several hours.

This is the final piece of the puzzle... I knew there was something missing from my Xbox Live experience. I went ahead and bought this after being distracted one too many times during a Rock Band jam session, or an intense game of Halo. I loved them as soon as I set them up. The outside sound blockage is great even with the sound off. You can have the sound of the game close to minimum and it still blocks out the sound of outside distractors. The microphone is hooked up so that you can faintly hear yourself talking. This is a good design because if you have ever tried to speak when you can't hear yourself, you'll find yourself speaking in jibberish. I really like the pads for the ears and the top of the headset. They are aesthetically and ergonomically pleasing to the user, and have a large "Turtle Beach" logo on the top band so your fans can see. I love using this headset. Not only do I play Halo 3 and hear a lot more things than I used to be able to, but if I'm playing hard and I'm distracted, I can turn down the voice volume while keeping the game volume up with the headset volume control. If I need to listen to my teammates, I can turn the volume down a bit while leaving voices high. This isn't really necessary though, because the headset automatically adjusts voice volume to a certain extent based on the loudness of the game sound. I STRONGLY RECOMMEND you use this headset for Guitar Hero or Rock Band. The packaging says the same thing. You'll focus far better and find your scores improving easily.
My only problem with the headset is that there is a wire going from the controller to the headset for the microphone and volume control for voices. Good thing is, you can disconnect both ends for playing offline. Bad side, you can't chat with people online while playing drums on Rock Band, the connector won't fit the drum kit.
What's great about it: VERY loud sound, lightweight, soft ear/head pads, noise cancelling
What's not so great: Wire to the controller

This headset is great. The game audio that you hear through the headset is great. The ear cups are very comfortable and don't get too warm. The battery life is about 15-20 hours. They take AAA batteries and rechargeable batteries work great for this. The headset is not too heavy and blocks out some outside noise.
What's great about it: Easy to set up, fair price, great sound quality

I have had the X3's since Christmas. I have used them everyday and love them, except for a few minutes ago.
The cable that connects your controller and the headset broke. Now I don't mean that it ripped and got cut in half, the wires inside the cover got old and wore out.
If you buy any of the Turtle Beach's make sure you keep tape or something around the little "puck" shaped part where the wire starts to leave the puck.
What's great about it: Easy to set up, in game chat/audio
What's not so great: batteries, connector cable

I bought this and was a little unsure of it for the price. One of the best purchases I've ever made relating to video game accessories. They get to feeling a little heavy after a few hours. The sound quality is even better than having the regular TV volume up. One REALLY Cool thing, I blow all the stuff up I want to on COD4 and Rainbow Six Vegas 2, (as loud as I'd like) while my wife is sleeping a foot away. It's also great for movies or music that you may have on our 360. And if you stream movies on your xbox via Netflix, they're GREAT if you don't want to disturb your sleeping wife when you're watching whatever horror/action/sci-fi flick that tickles your fancy. I used mine 1 to 3 hours, 4 or 5 days a week for the first month before I replaced the batteries that came with the headset. Overall, a little spendy but COMPLETELY WORTH IT! My wife says "OH Yeah, I LOVE 'EM" - because she doesn't have to listen to the racing, shooting, and explosions that I love.
What's great about it: Easy to use, games sound even better than normal
What's not so great: get a little heavy after 3 hours or so.

My husband cranks up the volume and I can only hear muffled sounds when sitting right next to him. Works great with Call of Duty iV and WOW. Some minor crackling and my husband can't hear me if he has the headphones on (obviously) but overall a great product.
What's great about it: My husband can now play Call of Duty without the walls shaking! Awesome device, works great!

Appariently Microsoft and Turtle Beach have different visions of wireless. Microsoft means no wires at all but Turtle Beach wireless x3 have wire's connecting to the controller but no the xbox360 so that gives them the right to call them wireless when it has about as much wiring as the wired headset that comes with your xbox360. My headphones were broken out of box and kept shutting off at the end of any xbox live match and I had to turn it back on in the lobby so after 1 week I had enough and I sent it back and they did give me a new one. This new one didn't give me any problems and I am glad I got it.
What's great about it: comfort, on sale, adjustable microphone, easy to setup, battery life
What's not so great: shuts off randomly, slight static sound, expensive, not all wireless,

I have to say I am a very avid gamer. Grew up with PlayStation, then a neighbor introduced me to X box several years ago and I never looked back. My manager at work gave me a $50 gift card for Best Buy and so here we are.
I bought the X3 which several friends recommend for the sound quality - especially for games like Rainbow6, Gears of War, or COD - any version. Up front I was very impressed with sound quality and overall comfort. I bought the head set on 12/27/08. On 1/3/08 I returned them to Best Buy. The mic just stopped working, check the batteries, replaced with new, still nothing....then moments later I could no longer hear any cross talk at all....no one could hear me.......For the money ??? No one in home ever complained about the noise, so for now I'm back to the Xbox headset. I read many reviews that these were great for sound but found many, many complaints about the quality of the product.....Mine were adult handled, never tossed or dropped or anything ill advised............Sorry. I'll stick with my 60in Sony LCD and Bose 321 system, now that's money well spent - also from Best Buy.
What's great about it: Comfort, sound, ease of late night play, battery life - ok
What's not so great: Not very durable even if adult used only - only lasted 10 days
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

When i first got this, it woked amazing and it felt like I was in the game. But I often had to replace the batteries say every two days. But after about three months or so, the sound in the television started to only play out of one ear istead of two. I tried replacing the batteries and hooking it up again and nothing seemed to work. So if you are looking for a quality mic for a medium price, get the Microsoft Xbox 360 wireless headset.
What's great about it: good for price, very comfortable
What's not so great: speakers die after a while
