This is the worst basketball game ever made in the 2k series. The game play is terrible the realism of playing basketball is a joke .Save your money wiat until somthing better comes along.

It is fun to play and to beat your friends with. NBA Live 08 is no competition to the Ol - MIGHTY NBA 2K8!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I bought this right away when I saw my man Paul on the cover but the game didn't live up to the expectations that I had for it. It is a good game but I think they could have done better.

What's great about it: the price
What's not so great: just a dissapointing game
not a horrible game, but nba live is much better. the graphics are not very good, and the controls are kinda screwed up. not bad for the price, but nba live is much better.

What's great about it: Everyonw has there own shooting form
What's not so great: The players are kind of slow.
This game gets better every year. NBA live used to be the best basketball game but now all that has changed since NBA 2K8. I cant wait until 2K9 comes out. I'll be waiting in line at the stores for that one.

What's great about it: Gameplay, Graphics, Moves, Styles, Options
What's not so great: Miss too many layups
NBA 2k6 is the best basketball game out. Every aspect of it is amazing. Playing a friend is great and the season mode is amazing. In previous NBA you would try to score every time with one player or try to run a play but it would never work. However, in NBA 2k8 when you select a play it tells you where to be, where to pass the ball, and when to shoot or drive. It is a great aspect of the game. The only downside to this game is that the players miss many lay-ups. Other then that, this is the best basketball game out right now.

What's great about it: pure fun gameplay, nothing better then 2 players in the same room
What's not so great: gfx engine kinda showing its age, needs new features
For outright fun this game cant be beat, especially when your playing with friends in the same room. Most of my nitpicks are from being spoiled by new graphics, but the engine could use a serious update, but the reason why i dont give it 5 stars is because not much is new between 2k7 and 2k8, since they saved all that time by using an old engine this game should have had features out the wazoo, but oh well - still fun.
I would recommend this to a friend!

great basketball game, fun to play, addicting....
personally i like the 24/7 so i was dissappointed when 2k8 didnt have it but its still a great game

What's great about it: Very realistic, fun, smooth
What's not so great: Need some revamped commentary
You keep hearing how this is the best basketball game out every year, and how it is better than Live. Why not try it for yourself and stop being skeptical. It is the real deal. Billions of people wouldn't steer you wrong. Exaggerated... Yes. But truthfully this is the game to get. The only thing NBA Live has on NBA 2K is the graphic overlays and presentation. But that will only appeal for 1 full minute after you realize the gameplay sucks. That's where NBA 2K comes in to fulfill your needs.

This is a ballers game, not like live 08.Live is like a arcade style of b-ball, but this is like NBA on TNT b-ball.This is the better game because it gives you a lot to do in the game, not only can you play 24/7, but the new slam dunk contest ,and online play the game offers.The Graphics could have been a lot better not to say they don't, but a few blemishes in creating some of the coaches little flaws.Make sure if you go to the lane time your jumps because you will miss a lot of layups.
P.S. I think this is the year the Spurs win back to back titles "Go Spurs"

What's great about it: Great Graphics, Online PLay
What's not so great: Too many missed layups, NO mid range jumper
A great buy that I would highly reccomend to anyone. My only problems are that no one can make layups with contact and besides Lebron, T-Mac and your other All Stars, its almost impossible to dribble to the basket, but I guess thats somewhat realistic. Also, no mid range game for anyone. SOme easy shots that your average AAU player could make are missed on a regular basis. Besides this, it is fantastic, great graphics, gets you into it, best NBA game available, and I've played NBA Live.
I would recommend this to a friend!

NBA 2K8 is the best nba game that you can buy! You can play competitive opponents on Xbox Live or start your own franchise with a fantasy draft in Association mode! The graphics and gameplay are amazing too!

What's great about it: Great Association Mode, unbelievable gameplay!
NBA 2k8 is a great game for both casual NBA fans and the hardcore fan. It has aspects that appeal to both. Casual gamers will like the dunk contest and 3 point challenge as well as the ability to pick it up and learn to play it quickly. Hardcore fans will love the association mode where you can draft, trade, and sign players to make your team a champion. Great value!

What's great about it: gameplay, graphics, tight controls
What's not so great: settings take some adjusting for play to become realistic
Firstoff, I would like to state that I am a huge sports fan, and my personal favorite games(NHL 94, NCAA Football 08, NBA 2k6) are completely blown out of the water by NBA 2k8.
I though 2k6 was good. Well, the upgrades since are immense. To name a few: added dunk contest feature, more interactive VIP feature(I swear this thing keeps track of everything), control settings which I prefer, on-the-fly substitutions & coach settings, as well as an improved Xbox Live experience.
The controls are beautiful. The passes are very precise: hold the right trigger and hit A is a lead pass, just hit A to pass to where your team is standing. Other basketball games seem to randomly choose whether to do a lead pass or a normal pass.
The shot stick takes a while to get a hang of, but once you do, you'll be able to choose which dunk(360, reverse, one-hand, two-fist, etc) you want to do on the fast break with a simple flick of the right thumbstick!
To top it all off, it feels like you're watching an NBA game. Evertything presented by ESPN, ABC, TNT, and NBATV is there for you: highlights, stat overlays, halftime show, a whole menu of postgame highlights.
The post game highlights menu includes:
-Player of the Game highlights
-Top 3 plays of the game
-A highlight reel for every player on both teams
Overall, this is a definite BUY.
