"I own beagles. They shed constantly and in three colors, meaning that you have to vacuum and lint-remove constantly. When my trusty vacuum of 3 years failed in the middle of my normal cleaning regiment, I purchased this item and continued my multi-week ritual. I was shocked that the bag less canister filled up so quickly and at first was pretty dissatisfied...but then...
...Then I re-vacuumed the area that my old vacuum had already covered. Topically it had previously looked fine, but for the sake of being thorough, I went again. The shear amount of dust and dander that this product pulled out of my carpets was shocking...disgusting, but shocking and frankly it was very satisfying to know that we were on the right path for something closer to a true allergen free home.
It has been 3 months now, and with normal carpet maintenance, this vacuum has continued to make us very happy to plug it in and scour the house. It has been completely reliable with no faults. Further, the attachments are fantastic, especially the Turbo Brush which has proven very useful on both stairs and furniture. We were surprised by its speed and dirt-grinding ability.
Our only recommendation for future buyers is that if the canister is full, tap the side of the canister prior to opening and removing it so that all/most of the dirt settles first. If the user monitors the intake though, this will not be an issue.
Overall, this is a fantastic item that I would buy again and again and for the price, you just can't beat it."

What you NEED if you own a pet!01/25/2008

What's great about it: The canister is easy to empty, it moves smoothely and it picks up everything. What's not so great: It's a little heavy for my grandmother, but that's about it.
"Logically, no person should be as excited about a vacuum as I am about my new 'toy' but I cannot help it. We have a large property, four dogs and four cats that move in and out all of the time...and a lot of dust. Past vacuums have never been able to stand up to the job and I was about to give up when I came across this product. I'd heard a lot about the Dyson in the past but couldn't justify shelling out 500 bucks for a vacuum. Thank goodness I checked out Best Buy. All of these great reviews couldn't possibly be wrong and believe me, they are not. From the moment I pulled it out of the box, I knew this was something special, and after slipping in three quick screws, I was off and running. This piece of equipment is amazing and, for a very reasonable price, I added a four year extended warranty onto it, though I'm not anticipating any problems. I've had it now for about a month and while I have to change the canister often (because it sucks up so much stuff), I'm certainly as happy as I could be. It weighs about 20lbs, I believe, but for me, it's not been any trouble at all and I personally think that the little extra weight helps it move smoother across the carpet. No complaints on this thing!
What it comes down to it- If you own a pet (kids, or a husband), you need this machine! I'd suggest stopping your search now and then running out and buying this."

"I bought this vacuum in August 2008. It worked wonderfully at first, even the first 6 months, I thought this was the best vacuum ever! After then it started to not be. I show American Pit Bull Terriers, so I have four of them in my house, a cat, 2 pet rats, and 2 pet hedgehogs, so we have our fair share of pet hair. I am also severely allergic to dogs, so we vacuum daily. I would not recommend this vacuum. It is always getting clogged with hair or small fluff from a shredded dog toy. Yes, I do pick up big pieces before I vacuum the floor. I have never been so angry with a vacuum before. I had a cheap little $40 vacuum, I luckily still had in the garage that I have started using now, because even that one works better than this one. The price on this one was good, especially if it would have continued to work as well as it did at first."

"I first bought a Hoover in the same price range, but that thing would heat up within 5 mins of use and I would have to let it cool for 15 mins before using it again, which obviously was very annoying, so I returned it and bought this Bissel. I love it so far. The instructions for assembly were not that great, (lack of pictures) but nothing too complicated. It cleans really well. Im very satisfied with its performance for the price."

"I bought this vacuum over a month ago after deciding to replace my cordless small one and assemble it by myself (easy). This is a very powerful vacuum that will pick up lots of dust and hair. If you don't mind cleaning up the front part of the vacuum after taking out the dirty container, go ahead you will be happy with it! I'm not saying that it is an issue for me, I really like the vacuum! The on-board tools are great for sofas, windows and hard to reach places. After using this vacuum my carpet is always more fluffy and even my husband notice!"

"Bought this vacuum a year and a half ago. Tools are worthless. They don't pick up pet hair at all. When I vacuum it gets the floor better on the belt side then the other side. I've gone through a lot of belts also. My old vacuum ($50 new) didn't go through belts this much. I went to use it this morning and it won't turn on. I know it only came with a year warranty but for that amount of money you would expect a longer usage out of a vacuum. I would not recommend this vacuum."

"I bought this vaccuum b/c i needed something that would specialize in getting pet hair out of my carpet and off my upholstery. unfortunately, i was disappointed that the pet hair removing "features" just moved the hair around rather than picking it up. it picks up most of the hair off the carpet just fine, but you don't need the tools to do it. overall, i would not recomment this vaccuum for pet hair removal."

"I bought this about 6 months ago. Initially the vacuum suction was good. It wasnt great, but would do the trick. I could never use the pet attachment, it just didnt have enough suction to do anything on furniture, pet bed or the carpet. I have berber so its harder for a vacuum or attachments to work better on it. The bagless portion is bad, but I imagine that portion would be difficult with any bagless so not neccesarily just with this vacuum. I have since gone back to bags because all the pet dander and dust would come spitting up at me as I try to maneuver the canister in to the trash. Then hair would get stuck up around the filter so I had to reach in and try and get that all out, by the time Im done trying to empty the canister, you would have dust and dirt all over the vacuum.
The pet attachments seemed like a joke to me. It didnt work. Theres not enough suction for it to work. So I tried to use it on stairs and furniture but it did just a marginal job. After a couple months the carpet started spitting dog hair back out at me on the floor. I noticed the floor brush spinning part would stop spinning on its own and only spin if I moved the vacuum. Tried fixing this but it just got worse and worse, even after completely taking apart the vacuum parts of the brush and cleaning everything. I ended up tossing it away after buying the Eureka Boss Pet Lover Vacuum and the suction is just way more than this one, and the pet brush on that Eureka Boss is the first one Ive ever seen that actually is its own roller, thats how much suction that vacuum cleaner has. For the exact same price as this one, I would pick that one any day over this one."

"First off the suction was awesome in the beginning (picked up everything) Then the suction became less and less, then the belt broke after 8 months. Now i've almost had this vacuum for 2 years and I have had to replace the belt twice now its started to spit dog hair back onto the carpet from the back of the vacuum (no, its not clogged, I checked). I'm now looking into getting a new vacuum and I did my research, i'm gonna try Bissell again with their Healthy Home vacuum. It has a 5 year warrenty and a lifetime belt."

"I had read all of the positive and negative rewiews of this vacuum before deciding to give it a try. It showed up in 5 days which I was VERY happy about. It was very easy to assemble once I looked at the pictures . I had some freinds over for dinner that night before my vacuum arrived, and since my old vacuum had gone to the big closet in the sky; I borrowed a friends. I thought that her vacuum had done a really good job once I had finished; or so I thought. I did a quick sweep of my living room and was shocked at how much her vacuum had missed! And she just purchased hers too! Since it was 10:30 at night I didn't go crazy last night, but I did this morning.
I live on post on a military base so the carpets here aren't high end berber by any means. And I have no clue how old it is. But this vacuum has made my carpet look SO NICE! It's lifted the pile in areas that were pretty much flat. With my old vacuum; I broke out into a sweat trying to get all the junk off of my stairs, not with this one! The rotating brush attachment rotates the ENTIRE time your using it! On my old vacuum, the brush would stop the second you touched it to any upholstery. And the hose reached all the way up my 11 stairs which made me very happy. With my old my old one I had to bring it to my landing and hope it didn't fall on my head.
In some of the negative reviews; they complained that the vacuum spewed dust everywhere. I haven't had that problem whatsoever. And I've had a TON of dust come out of my carpet. My only explination for that it that it could be a genuine malfunction; or they didn't assemble it properly. It's not very loud, not very heavy, and all of the attachments work wonderfully and are not flimsy my any means.
To me the vacuum should have this warning on the box: WARNING: This vacuum may make you question your cleaning abilities! You will be shocked at how much dirt and pet hair you will pick up the first time you use this machine. Be assured that it is not you, our valued customer, that is the problem. It is your previous vacuum that has failed to live up to your high standards!
In conclusion, I am extremly satisfied with my new vacuum cleaner. It works beautifully and does an amazing job! I would highly reccomend this vacuum to anyone who is looking for a new one."

"It burns Belts Because the floor brushes stay on when you are using the accessories. I returnd it and upgraded to the "lift off" which was $30 more and it has a switch to shut the brushes off!!!"

"Bought this vacuum because of all of the good reviews. Worked great for about a month or two. I found I had to empty the canister all the time and also clean another filter above the canister.
Then I noticed that the brush on the attachment for pet hair was not rotating. Then I noticed that things weren't being picked up when vacuuming the carpet. I looked closer and realized there was very little suction. Cleaned everything out again and it was still not working well.
I have been trying to use it to get my money out of it but I'm now giving up and will try a Hoover that has a bag.
The other thing I found was that this unit is very heavy. Some people commented on it being light but I find it to be very heavy. I have three levels in my home and it is very difficult to negotiate the stairs.
Speaking of stairs, it does a terrible job on them as well. Based on my experience I would strongly suggest another vacuum if not another vendor entirely."

"After buying this vacuum the belt broke after the second time I used it. I replaced it only to have it happend again a few weeks later. I have one small cat and a husband with allergies. This vacuum has no sucking power. After maybe a year the motor died on it...A waste of money!!! I'm now looking for another vacuum but it definitely wont be a Bissell!!"
