"This vaccum is a piece of junk. We had gotten it when our dirt devil conked out. When we took it out of the box it worked amazingly. 6 months later it cloggetd up. I would clean all the filters and it wouldn't work. It kept doing this for 6 month. Now the wires are exposed and its going to the dump. That 149 dollars could have been saved by bying the dyson. Overall Its a piece of junk."

"We built our home less than a year ago and I can't believe the amount of dirt this unit captured the first time. The carpet is soft and looks great again. The only bad thing is be prepared to clean the filters as this vacuum will pickup everything your old vacuum has left behind."

"This is my 6th bagless vacuum and my favorite! I tend to replace vacuums about every year or so, because they do not live up to my expectations. So far this one has been fantastic! My husband keeps asking me if I shampooed the carpets and I say No, just used the Pet Eraser. This has an amazing ability to pick up hair & dirt. The dirt cup is not small in comparison to other bagless vacs that I have used. It is not too heavy for me to carry up and down steps. I do feel that the placement of the cord is a little low and I end up holding the cord in my free hand to keep from running over it. I seem to have some difficulty getting the curved wand back into it's correct place, but that could just be me. I wish that the rotator head shut off when i'm using the attachements & lay the vacuum down so that the beater brush doesn't continue to run in one spot. Overall, I love this vacuum and would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a great vacuum @ a fair price. I had considered buying one of those really expensive ones, but after comparing the reviews, couldn't justify spending that much on a vacuum and am glad that I bought this one."

"When my previous Eureka went belly up after only 6 months, I decided I would be more particular about my next vacuum. I have a friend who owns a Dyson and I borrowed theirs. It worked well but I just could not justify spending that kind of money on a vacuum cleaner. I read the good reviews on Best Buy's website about the Bissell and decided to go with that one. Wow! It pulled more dirt and hair than the Dyson did. I have been very pleased with this product and would recommend it to anyone. I have three kids and a collie dog and it cleans behind them great. I will be a loyal Bissell user from now on!"

"I have bought several vacuums over the years everything from cheap to paying over 1,000 dollars hoping that something would actually work to keep my home clean. After another vacuum died I went looking for a new one, after doing the research I found that this one is cheaper than the Dyson, which was what I wanted, and worked better. Once I got it home I was amazed and grossed out how much pet hair and dirt came out of carpet in just the down stairs and the furniture. I love that the attachments still work and I have no problem getting it up and down stairs. It is a little louder than the other vacuums I have had in the past, however it cleans my carpets so I will live with the noise. I love Best Buy, it has made shopping even that much more fun, with so many people who write reviews you know you are getting a great product and not some piece of junk that won't clean you carpets!"

"Like others have said, I vacuum alot and I was amazed at how much dirt came up the first time I used this vacuum. It was very easy to assemble, I got it done in about 10 minutes, including having the dogs checking out the new "toy." What a great price too, I had been looking at the Dyson, but I couldn't justify spending that kind of money. This vacuum does the job for a fraction of the cost."

"I bought this vaccum cleaner on what these reviews had to say. They were all right. I have 3 cats and they shed hair on a regular basis. I used to get frustrated trying to get every hair out of the rug and carpet because it would take a long time to do so.
Now, with this product, it takes at least 3 minutes to do depending on size of the rug or carpet. It's also easy to dispose of. I just remove the canister and empty it out and place it back in. That's it.
It's so easy to use and clean. I am very happy with this one. The price is right for the product!"

"My husband and I purchased this vacuum about three months ago now and couldn't be happier. I thought thay my carpets were clean...until I used the Bissell! "After months of begging for a new vacuum, my husband agreed to purchase this one. How could so many great reviews be wrong? Well, they weren't. We are so excited about the Pet Hair Eraser. We have one dog, that seems to shed enough for 5, and a baby on the way. I really wanted clean floors. We tried it right after putting it together. I was amazed.......I had vacuumed just the day before, and we had to empty the canister after doing just a small portion of the room. Like I said, the canister is a little small, and you have to empty it often.....but it seems worth it to me, because you're getting so much out of the carpet. I also think it works great on our hardwood floors. It's the first time I really feel like I'm getting the carpet and floors clean. I would absolutely recommend this vacuum to anyone who has a pet, plus you can't beat the price!"

"This vacuum cleaner really lives up to all the good reviews I've read about it. I was going to buy a more expensive one this time, but I found it wasn't necessary. I can leave the vacuum on the floor and the hose reaches all the way up the stairs. I also love the contour pet tool. It gets all the hair stuck to the sides, bottom, and edges of the stairs that regular attachments can't touch. I lay the vacuum down to use the attachments so the roller bar doesn't dig into the carpet, as some have complained about. Just be sure to keep pets and children away from the exposed roller bar. By the way, we have 3 dogs and 1 cat, all long haired. It gets up all the hair and more with great suction. The specifications for this vacuum state that it's not self propelled, as some have said, but I can see why they thought it was, because it seems to glide across the carpet. I just love this vacuum! Thanks to all who recommended it. Thank you, Bissell, too!"

"I saw all the positive reviews about this cleaner and convinced my wife that this was probably one of the best vacuums out there for the money. It was receiving better reviews than the Dyson. My wife and I were debating between this one and a Dyson DC17 animal. The Dyson was just too expensive. And with the good ratings of this item, we thought we were getting a good vacuum. The first week, it worked great. Picked up all the dog hair with no problem. By the third week, it just stopped. The rollers stopped turning, no suction, nothing...Smelled like something was burning up. We took it back to Best Buy, who honored our purchase and gave us back our money, which of course went to the purchase of a Dyson DC17 animal."

"I have a long haired Sheppard and every vacuum I'd tried had not been able to sufficiently get the hair off the carpet in my apartment. I bought the Pet Hair Eraser today. I couldn't believe the amount of dog hair, dirt, and everything else that the vacuum picked up. For the first time in months my carpet is free of pet hair. I can actually sit down on the floor and not be covered in dog hair when I stand up. The Pet Hair Eraser has plenty of accessories which seemed to work well. The Pet Hair Lifter which helps lift the hair off the carpet before it is sucked in made all the difference. I would recommend this vacuum to any pet owner on a budget"

Could Not Recommend This Vacuum Cleaner03/21/2008

What's great about it: None that I could see What's not so great: Messy. sprayed dirt out the bottom, hand brush a joke.
"This is one of the worst vacs I have ever purchased. I have purchased quite a number of them. I get only 3 or 4 years out of each one. The dirt this vac picked does not go in the cup, it goes everywhere else on the machine. I spoke to a person at Bissell, and after being instructed to take apart the (brand new!) machine, this did improve somewhat, but not completely. Everytime the machine is turned off it leaves a little pile of dirt where it sits. I bought the machine for the pet hair remover brush. The brush has NO suction. There are 4 holes on the side of the brush that bleed off all suction. There is also an insert sheet that instructs that the brush is to be pulled toward you "in a gentle raking motion". Lint brush anyone? I get better results with a lint brush and then picking up the hair with my old vacuum, as I have always done. Needless to say, this machine is being packed up and taken back to Best Buy. I will continue to use my old vac until I can find something better."

"i needed a vacuum, and did not want to spend a lot of money, i did not think i could get a good vacuum for the price of this one, i was wrong, i like most everything about it. so with that said, i will keep this short, the things i dislike: when the pet hair catcher is flipped up to do tile, it does not fit under cabnets, when it is down it does not get close to the base board, and emptying the container can be some what difficult to not spill any dirt, even being ultra careful and doing so with a little amount of dirt in it. overall good product, good out weighs the bad."

"We purchased this vac as a second unit while our other unit was in the shop (after 5 years of no trouble). We have three dogs and three cats and vacuum about 3-4 times a week so the vac gets a good workout. Initially we were pleased with this unit's peformance but several design issues came up. - The cord is located very low on the machine so you step on it or run over it often. The cord has actually worn in several places from being run over and we've only had it a month. We've never had that issue with any other vac we've owned. - The dust container is small and does not handle much volume so you empty it often. Dust tends to stick really bad to the plastic material of the container. Pet hair collected tends to hang up in the space above the dust collection cup and it is a pain to clean out unless you have really small hands. - Cleaning the dirt out of the vac invariably spills dust when opening it up no matter how careful you are. Nothing like having to use another vac to clean this one.
My recommendation: purchase a higher end unit. Our older vac is a higher end bagless and it works great. The better designs are worth it."

"I read earlier reviews before deciding to buy this and Im glad I did. This is the best vacuum ever! I recommend this vacuum to people even without pets. The suction is so powerful it picks up EVERYTHING. I have a Jack Russell and there is dog hair everywhere! On my first try with this vacuum, it sucked up an entire canister of dog hair I didnt see with my old vacuum. My dogs bed is full of dog hair I could never get up. I tried the old vacuum, a dog brush, and washing it. Nothing worked until this vacuum. The suction power is really that great on picking up dog hair. I am very impressed, it was worht every dollar. The only thing the vacuum is a little heavy, but most vacuums are anyway. I really dont have any cons, besides I cant wait for a combo pet eraser vacuum and shampoo-er!"

Excellent Vacuum03/14/2008

"As others have mentioned, this vacuum WILL clean your carpet. You'll be amazed how much it picks up. For a point of reference, I have been using a Hoover Wind Tunnel for the last seven years or so. I want to say right off, that contrary to what some others have posted in their review, I didn't find the vacuum to be too loud at all. It rolls very easy and has a nice, long cord. I want to say again, it really sucks up the dirt and carpet fibers. It is nearly perfect. The things that kept me from giving it five stars are: The cup that holds the vacuumed material is pretty small; I had to dump it five or six times during the vacuuming of my 1500 square foot house. I'm hoping that number will decrease after I have used a few times and brought my carpet up to snuff. The other thing about the cup is that it is open on top, so I found that I needed to jiggle the cup a little before removing it to dump, in order to get the loose material in the cyclone to fall into the cup instead of on the cup seat. Also, the hose doesn't sit in the side holder as snugly as I would like. The hose kind of dangles at the bottom, but never came out of the holder. Finally, the vacuum is s bit top-heavy, so because of the location of the electrical cord, be careful when pulling it behind you when using the hose/wand. It will be prone to falling over. I'm not trying to discourage anyone from buying this vacuum, because as I said, it really does it's job well, and that's what is most important to me."
