What's great about it: Shaggy Getting Back to Basics
What's not so great: No Hotshot!
Being a Jamaican, I can say this is the one that will be a hit at home (Jamaica) and in foriegn. Shaggy has had met with major criticism from yard folks saying his music is not dancehall enough. This CD will quiet those folks down, but it is still POPular enough to reach the masses.
Bonafide Gal with Rik Rok is a major tune, but it tries too hard to emulate It Wasn't Me, but falls short. Out of Control with Rayvon...what can I say...massive tune, which brought me back to Pure Pleasure days. Woman Scorn is HOT!!!! Church Heathen and Body a Shake is true dancehall.
Shaggy is a lyrics man, so you have to know what he is saying (and read in between the lines) to really get his music beyond the catchy melody.
All in all...I think Shaggy has given more content-wise on Intoxication, than on any of his other CDs, however no song will bring him the hit It Wasn't Me was.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Addition to your Shaggy Collection
What's not so great: You're a few dollars short the cost of the CD
What i like about Shaggy is that he conveys authentic Jamaican lifestyle and "love-games" without degrading women...yet he keeps it dancehall. Hence his wide
crossover appeal.
This CD has the usual perfomers (Ric Roc,Rayvon,Tony Gold) and some newcomers. This CD is classic Shaggy...catchy lyrics over a dancehall, R&B track with a little harmony thrown in here and there....but the monster hit album "Hot Shot" it is not!
Bonafide and Church Heathen are true gems...wish there
were more.
This CD leaves you wanting more....maybe next time.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
