"I thought about writing a review for some time now. I wanted to make sure I was out of the honeymoon phase before I wrote about this device. I have had it for over a couple of weeks now and feel like it's time.

I purchased the Stiletto 2 as a late Christmas present to myself. I had signed up originally for the 3-day trial and loved the radio selections. I live Miami and our radio stations are pretty decent, but we have a lot of commercials. So, being able to listen to music without commercials is fantastic.

I wasn't sure what device to purchase, so I started reading. I had read a number of reviews (particularly the poor ones) about the Stiletto 2, but I liked the portability aspect, so I purchased it.

I now understand their complaints. They want better reception from the device itself, better/more comfortable headphones, etc. I agree the reception on the device isn't the best when indoors, but I purchased the home kit and that significantly improved reception.

When I am away from my home dock, I connect through Internet radio and it works just fine.

I also bought the car kit, but haven't had a chance to install it yet. I was able to get reception in my car without it though, so I imagine the car kit will only improve upon that.

The user interface is quite easy to navigate and the controls on the device are fairly intuitive. I like to test devices without reading the manual first to see how easy it is to figure out and the Stiletto 2 was pretty straightforward. I had to refer to the manual to understand the recording options, but otherwise, it was simple.

The recording option is fantastic. I set up a number of recurring sessions in the middle night. In the morning, I can then listen to them when I am working out, running errands, etc. I think this is probably one of the best features of the device. I have 15+ hours of recorded content and have used only 35% of the internal memory. Replay is fantastic. You can skip through songs just like your MP3 player and for me, that's a great option.

The size of the device is just right. It fits in my pocket, but it's not so small that I am afraid it's going to get broken or lost.

The battery life has been more than adequate. It's rated at like 4+ hours for Satellite or Internet radio and 20+ for recorded or library selections. I can attest that I have listened to it for many hours without running out of power. I wouldn't mind having a spare battery, but it's probably overkill.

As for the additional SD card slot. It's too bad it's under the battery. When you install an SD card, it's like you are putting in RAM in your laptop. This is not simple or intuitive for a lot of people (thinking of my mom here). I am sure there was an architectural reason, but it's too bad it's not just inserted on the side like a number of cell phones.

I have owned a number of musical devices in my life, 5+ iPods, a Zune, Rio, CD players, Walkmans, etc, but I can say this device has really reminded me of how music can be such a wonderful part of your life. I listen to my radio non-stop, and I wouldn't have it any other way now."

What's great about it: Extremely portable
What's not so great: Additional accessories are required, increasing the price

"Handy little gadget that allows me to get Sirius in the car as well as mobile like an Ipod. I love that flexibility!

Cons are that while driving, the spin wheel that controls the channel surfing is slow to respond and not easy to navigate without taking your attention off the road. It is also subject to glare issues which again can be annoying while trying to drive.

Pros are that I can take my music with me on the MP3's storage option, and get satellite radio as well. Have had no issues with reception either in the car or out & about with the antenna headset - although note I did have to purchase an additional var unit with the car set up in order to assure proper reception.

Be aware you will most likely need either a home or car kit as well as this unit, so the sticker price is going to be higher than you might have budgeted. It's still cheaper than buying separate MP3's players and a satellite radio and you get them combined in a cool package."

"This is a very nice product, I have not had any problems with the reception or being able to use it almopst anywhere. It is very easy to dounload your favorite songs to it. For good reception in your car or truck you will need to get the var kit. The head phones antinna is not as bad as some people say it is. I really have enjoyed this product and I plan on letting all my friends and family know how good this product is."

What's great about it: Sirius programming
What's not so great: live reception is horrible

"I recently bought a stiletto 2 becasue my old S50 died and best buy gave me an instore credit. I will admit that the live progamming works great when I work in my front yard and that is it. Once I leave my front yard all bets are off, it will loose signal if I walk to close to a small bush and I'm not kidding. If I walk by a tree or a tall fence forget it. I have called Sirius and asked if mine might be defective and they told me I needed to have the head set with the built in antenna on to maintain the live feed which I have a problem of it falling off.
Overall the Stiletto 2 is ok and will work great with plenty of recorded music but I bought mine to listen to the live feed so I'm not overally impressed with it."

What's great about it: Great Reception, Recording Feature for live music, crystal clear channels and MP3 player

"I had the XM portable player for a weekend b/c I thought I was going to change. But just walking through the city the antenna was horrible. With the Stiletto 2, I can put it in my pocket and I'm off. The benefit of recording satellite radio is great; I don't have to spend time going through a 3rd party vendor to get the songs that I want. I've had this player for over a year and it is still going strong."

"Overall this product is a B+ for me. The ability to store huge amount of mp3 or recorded radio is a big plus when satellite reception is not the best. Wi-fi or the home kit is a must.
In south central Texas I can pick up Sat. with only the ear buds occasionally. Ear buds sound nice and the Stiletto has decent base sound with several audio adjustments. Battery life is very good. I was a little hesitant but overall very happy with this purchase."

Definately Worth Getting 07/21/2008

What's great about it: can listen anywhere, able to record favorite songs and shows, automatically saves content of what you most listen to
What's not so great: price, signal strength

"I got this radio after my 4 year old Starmate stopped working. I was skeptical at first given the last few reviews, but so far I have experienced nothing but great performance from this machine. I'll admit, the signal is not too strong depending on where you are; for example at my house I have little signal whereas at my boyfriend's house the signal comes in clear as day. However, Sirius put in a WiFi ability with just this purpose: to listen to the radio even when your signal is less than stellar. So I see no reason to complain about the signal strength because I can always listen to it either with WiFi or just the satellite signal.

That being said, I feel it necessary to add that I do not have the vehicle dock yet I was still able to listen to it in the car. The signal was not exceptionally strong in places, but ultimately I listened to it with just the radio signal for about an hour today in the car (without the antenna headphones ). So this is a great radio to have on a long road trip in a car that does not have satellite radio, as you can still listen to Sirius no matter where you are.

I also love the fact that the radio can record your favorite songs and programs. Also, if you happen to listen to one channel more than others (like me) the radio automatically records what you listen to if you ever want to listen to it in the future. That, combined with the fact that the radio can hold MP3 recordings makes this one of the best investments I have made.

All in all, if you are considering making the investment in the Stiletto, get it. It is a little over-priced but when you consider all the features you are paying for it justifies itself. And don't be discouraged with the signal strength; it will vary from place to place but no matter where you will always be able to listen one way or another."

It's just an MP3 with a sirius..... 06/19/2008

What's great about it: MP3 Player and 10GB capacity
What's not so great: Practically NO features at all!!! & the outrageous price.

"I got rid of my Starmate 4 and bought this because I needed an MP3 player and boy am I regretting it now!! If it wasn't for the MP3 in it, I would not have bought it. In comparison to the SM4, it doesen't hold a candle to it. The SM4 has lots of awesome features. This one has squat! Also, the reception is nothing but staticy. If you don't buy the FM Direct for it you get nothing but lots of static (no matter what frequency you try) The screen is very small. Even changing the channels is a pain. You can't just hit channel up. When you try it, it brings up a screen with all the channels on it to choose from, instead of just moving up or down. It has no alarm, no memory search, no program alert, etc.... Basically, the SM4 blows it away with the exception of the MP3 player."

What's great about it: Functionality; Ability to both record and upload music; Design; Overall quality; Storage; Durability
What's not so great: Sometimes signal is limited when using satellite-only function (i.e. if signal is blocked from an external source)

"I really enjoy the SIRIUS Stiletto. I do own two other SIRIUS radios (one for my home and one for my car), and the Stiletto, in my opinion, is the best of the three. My favorite feature is the functionality of having the option to listen, record and/or upload music. In addition, the product is extremely easy to use and durable. I use it when jogging outdoors and in the gym. The design is also sleak and lightweight and the sound quality is amazing. The internet access provides another bonus feature for any time when you are unable to achieve a signal from the satellite receiver.

I am very pleased with the overall quality of the product and recommend it to anyone interested in portable MP3 players or SIRIUS subscribers. It's basically a combination of an iPod, iTunes and a Radio - what could be better?!"

Just Wonderful 05/01/2008

What's great about it: The love button is great and so is the wifi
What's not so great: You can't record during wifi

"I will admit, I have only had it for one day but I absolutly love it. I listen to The Beat and they have dance mixes I can not find anywhere. Now with the love button all I have to do it press it when the song is on and it will record it. And I work in a building with no windows around, so the replay, wifi and mp3 play is perfect. I just wish you could record over the wifi.
When I bought my T&C it had a Sirius radio built in and they gave me a year sub for free. I always said I would never pay for radio. Now I have 3 of them and would never be without them. It is so nice to not have comercials and be able to find what I want to listen to at that time and stuff I can't even get on my radio stations in town. And now the Stiletto 2 has made it 10 times better.
You won't regret buying it if you really like your music."

"I read alot of these reviews and based my decision on the positive ones. It is an awesome sat radio. You can listen 3 different ways. Sat radio, saved content, and thru a Wi Fi connection. There is nothing else that can do that. Most reviews said the car FM wireless reception was not good but I have had no problems with it at all. The antenna headphones are dorky looking and would not stay on my head when I mowed my yard."

What's great about it: integrated recording feature, ease of use
What's not so great: bulky antenna headphones when on foot, tad pricy

"I've had my Stiletto 2 for 2 months now, and looking back it was worth the price. it works very well in the car with a direct antenna adapter, and works equally well around the house when part of the home kit. I don't like the antenna headphones, though. They are quite creative, but it'd be hard to walk around in public without looking silly. And as long as your clear of any obstructions, the signal is fine with the onboard antenna, but if you're in an urban environment, you'll need the headphones."

Disappointed For The Money 02/22/2008

What's great about it: portable (kind of), recordable music, easy to use
What's not so great: poor signal if you are inside, even with antenna

"I bought this because they said it was portable and I wanted to use it while I was at the gym. They even use someone excercising at the gym in their marketing (without the antenna), well I had to use the antenna and have to stay in one spot, because if I move I might lose the signal, that is the same case when I use it in my house, I'm lucky to have one bar in my house, the only thing that has stopped me from returning it is that I have WiFi in my house so I am at least able to listen to it over the internet, but like another reviewer mentioned, you cannot record songs when you listen to it this way, it doesn't give you the programming information and you are not able to listen to all of the channels available when you listen using the satelitte signal."
