What's not so great: Like all wireless FM transmitters, wireless solution not the greatest

What's great about it: Color Screen, Remote Control,Finding stations quickly, Easy set up
What's not so great: Breaks down after a few months of use
"I received the first Radio as a Birthday gift & soon after professional installation of this radio being hardwired & installed to my dash around 6 mos I began to have intermittent issues of signal issues. After Tech supporting myself to find the cause it was the radio ports connection to the dock & had this confirmed by BestBy by checking through a dock of there's in the store. You would have to push down & hold the radio firm & you would get a signal but once you let go NO Signal !!..Sirius replaced with a Refurb ??? WTF..& got a notice with it ( 90 day warranty on Refurbs only ) WTF again...!! The new radio comes with a 1 year so now I get cheated on the warranty by afew months.I wasnt too happy !! I installed the radio kit myself this time when it arrived it was soo simple..Statrted having the problem again in August & was told by sirius the warranty was expired, yeah figured as much since I lost a few mos. I wouldnt reccommend to JEEP OWNERS I have a Jeep Wrangler 4X4 with MUD Wheels NO LIFT but it sets high & a bit of Vibration occurs I believe that the vibration may have its part on this review but feel the performance of the cost of the radio doesnt meet my expectations."

Satellite radio rocks

What's great about it: Good display
What's not so great: Sound and mounting
"I have this radio attached to my windsheild, which is a bad idea. The swivel mechanism moves everytime I hit a bump, and the radio usually ends up facing downward by the end of the day.
The sound quality of the FM transmitter is not very good. There is usually static in the background and it's difficult to find a station that works with it.
That being said, I still love the radio. Its an upgrade from Sporters R. It has great display options. And I love satellite radio."

What's great about it: Very Pretty!
What's not so great: nothing
"I purchased a second car and wanted to have Sirius in both cars. I wanted this one because of all the features it has, and the remote. I have it hooked up using a cassette adapter and it sounds really good.
On my other sirius player there is a "no signal" message for about 30 seconds. This one has no lag and music starts playing almost instantly as it comes on.
You can also view whats on the other stations without actually changing the channel. Its kinda like the guide on your TV. It can flash sports scores also. Not that I care about that, but I'm sure some of you do. You can change the color of the dispay too. You can also go back and listen to songs again by pressing the "back" button. Its kinda like a DVR.
I love it. It can do so much more than the standard sirius receiver. Believe me, I've had about 5 different ones and this one is by far the best.
I bought it just before a 5 hour road trip and I had it set-up in less than 5 minutes. My boyfriend told me it was an investment because it kept him busy and content the entire trip. He sat in the passenger seat and chose songs the entire way there. It is worth the extra price. Dont get the cheap $30 receivers, you wont get the full experience of Sirius."

"do not buy this product unless you plan to hard wire it to your car's antenna. the fm transmitter is so weak it doesn even transmit to the car's stereo. i decided to return the item and purchased a starmate 5, which works fine."

What's great about it: Portable, easy to use
What's not so great: Could come with FM-Relay or AUX-in for my Factory Car Radio for better Digital sound
"Works, just like it says, I ran the Sirius XM Antenna and placed it in the center of my 98 Ford Ranger Truck, plugged-in the cig-lighter adapter, the FM-Relay ( had to buy that separate as it didn't come with one) and I hear sound on the test channel 48, called to activate, it took about 5 to 10 min. I was surfing and setting up channels in no time, but, it didn't really sound, as good as I wanted, and I hated finding a open FM-Freq, so I bought an after market AUX-in unit that connected to the back of my Ford factory radio, making my CD-button the AUX-in, the sound was an improvement over the FM-Relay, this radio is Great, and I'll never go back or look back on FM-radio again, this sounds as good as HD-radio, HELLO digital sound and goodby to analog FM radio for ever!"

"THIS IS A GREAT RADIO---TONS OF FEATURES, GREAT DISPLAY THAT CAN BE CUSTOMIZED, COOL LITTLE REMOTE, HUGE DISPLAY SCREEN. I HAD THE RADIO INSTALLED AND RUNNING IN UNDER 10 MINUTES. ONLY PROBLEM WAS ACTIVATING THE ACCOUNT, CALLED 2 TIMES TO GET IT UP AND RUNNING--POSSIBLE NEW CUSTOMER SERVICE REPRESENTATIVE. RADIO IS GREAT IN EVERYWAY. I RECOMMEND THIS RADIO AND THE OTHER SIRIUS RADIOS. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE XM RADIOS ---PERSONAL PREFERENCE. I HOPE THIS REVIEW HELPS AND HAVE A GREAT DAY."

"Ok so everyone knows that since the FCC regulated the signal that the satellite radio companies were using for the built in wireless FM transmitter in all new radios are horrible, thus, the need for the FM DIRECT ADAPTER which wires directly into the vehicles antenna. With the adapter installed I still found myself constantly changing FM stations with this reciever. Perhaps the radio I recieved had an issue, but after speaking with Sirius for 45 minutes they admitted that they have had alot of returns of this particular model for that very reason and suggested that I get a Stratus or Starmate. I was going to try another sportster 5 but the store that I was at did not have anymore and the little doggie is an addiction for me so I went with the starmate 5. This radio is awsome and I would give straight 5's if it were not for the cost and the FM issue.
Note: I tried the new starmate 5 this morning and had no disruptions at all and never once had to change FM stations.(the way it should be)"

"This is my first experience with Satellite Radio and I really love the Sportster 5. I had it installed by the Best Buy Geek Squad and they did a great job. I love having all the music/talk/news options and this is really easy to use and the display is very easy to read. The remote is very handy for the car. I love the color display. I would highly recommend the Sportser 5!! You won't be dissapointed."

"After living with the original Sportster for a few years, it was getting harder and harder to find replacement items. Decided to upgrade to the 5, and what a great decision that was. This lightweight, portable option makes it easy to dock within the car or with the boombox that I chose to purchase as well. In addition, the ability to change FM frequencies on the fly is nice, as I travel in areas that require me to change frequencies. This is a great buy, even though the price may be a bit much."

"Quality product. I had no experience with Sirius before purchse, but set-up and account activiation was simple. I am using the FM tuner option, and am getting descent reception.
I recently moved to a new city, and instead of having to get used to the local radio I opted for Sirius and love Howard, NPR stations, ESPN radio and Lithium (90's alt and grunge)."

What's great about it: Lots of presets, Love that you can remember favorite bands/songs and the alerts whenever they are playing.
What's not so great: Make sure you use a direct connection, wish the volume control was easier to find on the item itself
"This is my second Sirius radio; I "traded up" from a Stratus 4. This thing is amazing. it looks great, has a clear display, and is amazingly easy to use.
I love the little remote control; it makes it easier to use even in a car. There are 30 channel presets, and you can browse your presets to see what's playing. I also like the "memo" option. I know when any of my favorite bands/songs are playing across the entire Sirius spectrum. I like some obscure music, so that is a great little feature. I'm just learning the record feature, where I can pause a song as I'm going through a toll or am interrupted, etc.
It's an amaxing little product. Highly recommended, worth the couple of extra dollars."

"I purchased this for my husband that is tech challenged and even he can work it. I purchased it for Christmas 07 and took it back because he said he would never use it. We drove my daughters car one night who has one and he loved it. I suprised him for his birthday in Aug. with one and loves it very much. He loves the talk shows on it. Great reception . The guys at the install at Bestbuy we great and the sales people too."

What's great about it: Easy to set up, durable, large print on screen
What's not so great: Having to string the cable to a window to get reception.
"The Sirius channel line-up of music is second to none. I have heard songs that I never thought still existed, with wonderful DJ's and a lack of commercials.Only problem is that we can only get reception with the cable and receiver placed next to a window, and sometimes lose the signal for no explainable reason. The print is large and easy to read,the sound quality good on the receiver, and it easily snaps out to place in the car dock. Again, having to place the antenna on the car roof with the cable strung through the window is a pain. Hope there will soon be wireless-like WiFi for the radio!"
