What's not so great: it froze a couple times for an average of 10 seconds.

"First off when I opened the box I saw how perfect it looked. It looked so clean so good. The back was the way I liked it. Once I got home I started syncing music to it. The battery life lasts pretty long. I like how you can change the colors background. The slideshow is fun to watch. You can also add channels, and get a 30 day subscription for free to best buys rhapsody. The music quality is great."

What's great about it: very simple, easy to use, good display
What's not so great: TERRIBLE BATTERY LIFE!!!

"This device is an ok mp3 player. It is quite simple and has a good display but the advertised battery life is a COMPLETE LIE. I bought it for a trip and it lasted about 5 hours of audio. Now that is dissapointing. I realize that it is not that expensive but it advertises about 34 hours of audio playback. I do not suggest this device."

What's great about it: cheap, great screen
What's not so great: none yet

"This is a great mp3 player for its cost. For 150 dollars you have an mp3 with as much memory as you would like. Don't let the 8 gb turn you off if thats not enough you can always always buy a removable memory card for about 30 bucks. Freezing and battery life can be a problem but the frezing usually gos away after a few seconds and the battery life can be extended by placing the player on hold. All in all, this player is a steal and for normal everyday use anyone would be lucky to have it."

What's great about it: has a nice screen, the menu is nice
What's not so great: battery dies waay too soon

"I gave this product a try. I am disappointed with the battery life of only 6 hours of playing music. The specs said that it has 35 hours, but this one did not.
Also,,, one thing that I am not satisfied with, is the Fast Forward. You can not fast forward very fast. If you are listening to something that is 2 or 3 hours in lengh, then forget it about trying to fast forward to your spot.
One more thing,,,, There is no way to clip, or hang around your neck for carrying purposes without getting something to hold it."

What's great about it: ease of use
What's not so great: battery life/ freezing

"If the battery would last anywhere close to what is advertised, I would recommend it. Current battery life on full charge averages about 4 to 5 hours playing audio.
I bought this after my 240e died. That one melted down, really, got very hot and quit working.
I was hoping the Sansa view would be a good replacement. I enjoy listening to audio books and this will play both downloaded books from the library (time stamped WMA's) and audible.com books. However, the battery life is nowhere enough to listen to even a short book on one charge."

What's great about it: It works okay
What's not so great: It freezes alot!

"I had this thing for almost a year and I loved it... at first... If you don't use the software that comes with it then it will freeze! You have to be super careful with this thing or it will be very evil to you! Don't get this! Get an Ipod or Zune. The price may make it look tempting but it will waste your money completely."

Lovin' the View! 05/29/2008

What's great about it: Ease of Use, Convenient Conversion Software, Great Sound, Nice Picture Quality, Expandability, I could go on and on!
What's not so great: Sandisk needs to consider making ones with more memory.

"This is my first mp3 player, but trust me, I've been doing plenty of research and playing with other people's PMD's and I must say that this is the best I've encountered for the price.

I bought this because I liked the fact that I was not strapped into using one type of music download software and of course I wanted all the features that the infamous iPod offered. I just didn't want the limitations or the price!

The Sansa View has proven to be quite easy to use and music is loaded in a snap. Also, the downloadable Sansa Media Converter has a very friendly user interface.

I also liked that this had the FM tuner and the voice recorder. Not to mention that it is expandable with the Micro SD cards. I don't think I'll ever leave home without it!

One tip to Sandisk though - up the ante with an 80+ Gig and do a bit more advertising and you might just have a revolution on your hands. Besides, who needs an iPod anyway? Come enjoy the View!!!"

What's great about it: stylish, easy to use, fm radio
What's not so great: freezes

"i got this on a huge discount so i cant say if its worth the money. its good, not amazing, nicely lit screen, the earphones are ok. the fm radio is cool but its a little low. for me it freezes sometimes, and its hard to fix when it does that, but overal its good, not great. i would reccomend frostwire, its free and yu get unlimited downloads of music ,photos, movies."

What's great about it: Easy to use interface, good sound
What's not so great: Can't use Itunes

"This is a great MP3 player especially for the money. It's comparable to the IPOD and costs a lot less. It's easy to use and sync with your computer, the only downfall is that it's not compatible with Itunes (which is where I buy my music online). It doesn't mean you can't use the music from Itunes, you just have to shuffle it around a little to get it on the Sansa. I would definitely recommend this, and am buying a Sansa for a gift this year for a new graduate."

What's great about it: Screen size, ease of downloadind, 8 gb
What's not so great: Have not found any yet

"I have had 4 mpe palyers which have all been Creative. I was not too willing to try another brand, but I went out on a limb to try this one, keeping in mind the Creative 8gb which has a 2.5 TFT screen. I am very please with the Sansa View so far. It's easy to drop and drag music. The SD card is also a plus. Over all this is a good player and perfect for a beginner."

"to me this product is realy easy to use im enjoying my songs, great pictures, great radio signals i use it on the go at work by hooking external speakers to it also it can be ran on my cars audio connection , so now i have my favorite songs ,videos,pictures and preset radio stations easy to program and simple to charge!"

What's great about it: Sharp screen, easy navigation, great sound quality
What's not so great: Quirky software

"I bought one of these sansa players for my wife to use while working out. She usually dislikes electronic gadgets but has absolutely fallen for this one. The screen makes a very nice, sharp picture in all modes and the sound quality is excellent. The battery in it lasts a long time so she doesnt have to remember to charge it all the time. If you're in the market for a flash based MP3 player, consider this before you pluck down $xx for an ipod."

Very Nice! 04/21/2008

What's great about it: Capacity, Expandability, ease of use,...Better Value than IPOD
What's not so great: Battery? a couple of ssues w/ it "Sticking"....

"Overall, I really like this player. I chose the Sansa View after comparing the features and values of quite a few other players. I've had this for a few weeks, and the only issues that I've had thus far are that it's kind of "stuck" a time or two (but after about 10-20 seconds,....it was fine).
I'm a little concerned about the battery capacity. I've charged this so that it shows "fully charged", and after taking it to the gym and working out for 1 to 1-1/2 hours,...it doesn't seem to have much charge left. Don't know if this is typical, or if I've just a bad battery?
I've also tried to register with Rhapsody-to-go, but have had some issues in loading the music into this player. In reading other reviews, it may be because I need to update the firmware, and if this is the case,....I'm glad I read the reviews, as I was seeing NOTHING else that was giving me any clues as to the problem. I'll try that, and hopefully this will be resolved.
Besides these three areas of concern, I really Love this player! Very easy to understand, operate, charge, etc. This groovy little player, and all it's features, really keeps my workouts moving along!"

Good Features - Good Price 04/21/2008

What's great about it: Ease of use with Rhapsody

"I bought two of these for my kids, and both worked great for the most part. One of the players started flaking out by losing saved songs, and also displaying songs but not playing them, and I had to reformat the player, but now it works good as new. The Sansa help-desk was very responsive and helped me recover the format and functionality quickly.
I really like being able to use Rhapsody to download albums and songs. They have am extensive library, and it's much cheaper to buy the albums through Rhapsody than it is to purchase the CDs."

What's great about it: Reasonable Price for 8 GB
What's not so great: Song selection search by scrolling

"The Sandisk Sansa View was a reasonable price for 8 GB but it has not been a user friendly product.
Before using the first time, software updates had to be downloaded because there were 'bugs' in the initial release.
It was difficult to organize the songs where it was loaded the way we wanted.
It does not have a search feature where you can enter a letter and it moves to that letter of the alphabet but you have to scroll through the song list.
I would not recommend this product."

Sansa View

What's great about it: Great price, great features, expandable, solid.
What's not so great: fingerprint magnet, a bit on the big side. propietary dongle.

"I use this player with WMP11 and all features worked flawlessly, this includes syncing music, video, and pictures. The navigation is simple and fast. Sound is great when using a proper set of headphones (like the Grado SR60 or Shure buds). I like the MicroSD slot, so I can add more memory if needed in the future. The widescreen LCD is great, good lighting and resolution (for it's size). The price is also a plus, especially compared to the Zune, Ipod, and Sony products. The only parts I hate is that it attracts oil (like fingerprints). I also not a fan of propietary dongles, i don't know why MP3 players don't just use a simple mini-USB cord (like my Motorola phones). It is also bigger than most other flash based mp3 players like the ipod nano and 8gb Sony Walkman."

"I purchased this after comparing many MP3 players. I discovered that if you paid LOTS more for the Ipod name. This MP3 had much more storage (8 MG internal memory) and can do everything the Ipod could for much less. I purchased one for my daughter for Christmas and then one for me. At the time, we got one year of free Rhapsody (Best Buy) Music Store with the purchase. That was the final reason I bought this one."

Worst. Media player. Ever. 04/16/2008

What's great about it: Sleek design & profile, nice track wheel.
What's not so great: Just about everything else.

"What, oh what, is there to say? iPod-killer this is not. Upon unboxing the unit, the thing froze three or four times within the first couple hours of use. I did not even have a chance to upload any of my media onto the thing before I decided to return it. Some of the low points:
1. The freezing. Duh. My old 1.5GB MP3 player of years ago has probably never frozen. Absolutely unacceptable on the part of Sansa.
2. Charging only possible via USB.
3. Menu navigation can be confusing at times.
I ended up looking at the Insignia 8GB player before ultimately deciding to forget purchasing a media player. A mildly-advanced cellphone can perform the necessary functions anyway. Regardless, stay away from this model. Problematic, buggy, and flawed."
