What's great about it: Memory size, screen What's not so great: none
"This is my first MP3 player and I love it. I got it for Christmas and my brother got a Nano. After comparing he decided he should have done more research! The Nano is definitely smaller but since I use mine most at my desk at work, size really was not much of a factor for me. I have had no issues with this player at all."

This Player Is The Best01/08/2008
By CK101from St. Louis
What's great about it: Scroll Wheel, FM Radio, Easy To Use What's not so great: Can Only Put Music on it by using Rhap. Software, bad headphones
"Before I had a Sansa C100 or I think it was called that. Anyways in October I saw this being released and Since my last Sansa was so nice for such a little thing, I wanted to stay with this brand. I got it for X-mas and it only took a couple of hours to fully charge. To Put Music On it I thought I would just drag and drop from my music onto the folders like my last one, but that was not the case. You have to use the Rhap. Software on this in order to get your stuff on it. IT WAS VERY EASY ALL I HAD TO DO WAS DOWNLOAD THE SOFTWARE AND BAM! MY MUSIC GOES ON IN AN INSTANT! Its probably the most easy mp3 there is right now. Video works great and so does pictures. It does have some trouble with freezing up after you un-plug it from your computer, but YOU JUST TURN IT OFF AND THEN BACK ON AND IT WORKS FINE EVERYONE! THE REASON WHY ITS FREEZING UP ON YOU SIMPLY IS THIS, DON'T INSTALL THE SOFTWARE FROM BEST BUY BECAUSE IT FOR SOME REASON JUST SCREWS THE WHOLE PLAYER UP! Overall this is a very nice player and at such a great price it def. beats the new ipod nano, even if its bigger and not a touch screen wheel. Does the nano have radio or voice recorder no it dont. THE SANSA VIEW IS ONE OF THE BEST MP3'S YOU COULD EVER BUY!"

What's great about it: Cheap What's not so great: Everything
"This is by far the worst music player i have every owned. X-mas day i open it put music in and such and it works for a few hours. The Screen Scratches easy, it corrupts so much data. The videos lag for extended periods of time. Also the sound quality is awful. This player freezes more than it actually works. This is a review after having returned this 2 times. Over all this is the worst thing that you could ever purchase. The only thing from this player that actually works is the BOX it came in!"

I Love This Player!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!01/05/2008

What's great about it: Easy to use, Expandable, Great Sound, SANSA Tech Service What's not so great: Slow Start Up. Ear Phones are junk, Best Buy add on's that I had to remove From the Player
"I Pod??????? I have had my unit almost a year and have no regrets. My unit has given me great service and has been a performer. I have to say I did have to retun the first one I had due to it shutting down and not restarting on the first day I had it. The Sansa tech identified the problem [Bad Battery] and told me to exchange it. But my second has been flaw less and still works today with never a issue to be had. I am not too computer savy and I have had to call Sansa to have help on removing the Best Buys loaded items and also loading the firmware updates. they have been easy to get ahold of and very helpful. Anyone who has had a problem must have not called Sansa as they will do what ever it take to solve the problem. Oh they are in California and speak clear english and they will call you back if needed. My one real grip was the ear buds and I have since replaced them with Bose phones. Not a big issue as I would rather buy the buds I want in the first place. Batter life has been great as I used it for nearly a week in California and on both flights with only one recharge. I also removed the battery to see how hard it was to change and it is a true no brainer. It just pops out after removing a couple small screw. I have too may friends with I pods that are plugged in because they will not work on the battery any longer. There are several ways to load this unit and they all work very well. The direct way in the My Computer file is very quick and clean. The MS music player also works fine. I have loaded over 2700+ songs and live muliple song concerts. All work well and it is never hard to find what I want to play. The one other issue I do not like is the refresh time after pluged into the computer. It take 5 min if the unit is fully loaded. Not a killer but it takes time. I have since bought a wall charger and do not have to pug into the computer unless I want to add or change songs. I also just did the most recent update of the Firmware and found I now have a equalizer and other changes that make my older unit as good as what is on the shelf today that I could buy. If I ever replace this it will be for the improved unit from Sansa that will replace this unit in their lineup. The key to this unit is buy it with better ear buds at the start. If you have any problems call Sansa tech or use their web site as they video's that also teach you almost all that you need to know to make this unit work well for you. A very happy owner here."

What's great about it: Huge capacity, easy controls What's not so great: Big unit
"I received as xmas gift from hubby this year - at my request. I had done a LOT of homework before deciding on this model. Many friends recommended the brand, so I just checked into newer models and read reviews. Once I got the unit, I made sure it was fully charged and installed the software on my PC. I have since UNinstalled the software. I just didn't need it! Media player works fine for me. I have used my laptop for most downloads to this unit, and my laptop is using Vista. I haven't had any freeze-up problems, and I haven't had any download/transfer issues like some other reviewers. Like I said, I don't use the provided software, maybe that's the problem for others. I also haven't downloaded any video, and I don't intend to. Bought the unit for music, not video. I really like the unit and have recommended it to family & friends."

What's great about it: Fm and expandable memory What's not so great: Frezzes up!
"I have done a lot of research on mp3 players...and this one had all the qualities i was looking for....sturdy construction and good controls.....to my disapointment as soon as i plugged it into charge and took it off... it never left the connected screen....so i exchanged it thinking it might be a fluke but the second one did the same thing...so i don't have the patience to try a third time so im going with another brand"

CAUTION: Liked the View but it would never work01/02/2008
By GregMfrom Connersville, IN
What's great about it: Solid Build, Navigational Wheel works well, Good Sound Quality, Good Price, Expandable Memory What's not so great: Player is REALLY big, User Interface is hardly updated from e Series, View doesn't work properly
"I got a 8GB Sansa View Player as a replacement MP3 Player for my old Sansa e270r which I really liked but slowly quit working after a year. Was able to get a Sansa View with product replacement plan (highly recommend getting one for MP3 Players!). Initially I got a 8GB Insignia Pilot which I really liked in every way but the audio quality. I had to have better audio quality and as much as liked the player, I couldn't get over the muffled sound. So that is why I returned it for the View because I liked the audio quality on my Sansa e270r. Before I get to my complaints and/or issues, let me say what I did like.
PROS: Player has solid build. Navigational turn wheel works well and is a nice change from the old Sansa Sound quality is good which is why I initially stayed with the Sandisk Expanable memory Ability to delete song on player which was not available on e Series 8GB Good Price
CONS: Player is REALLY big for a flash player, one of the biggest in the market. The View interface is hardly changed from the e Series which was discouraging. Player would not load music properly or function properly.
Here is my biggest issue. The initial Sansa View player I had seemed to work well and the pre-loaded music sounded good. However, when I tried to load music either off of my PC or through the Best Buy Digital Music Store (Rhapsody), the player never displayed in Rhapsody or connected to my PC as an MP3 Player or external drive. I thought it might be a PC problem, but tried to connect on two other PCs, and they didn't recognize the player either. So I returned my initial Sansa View for a second one. This player was even worse. It stared the first time, but when I connected it to several PCs it was never identified. To make matters worse, the display screen never worked after the initial startup. So I was forced to return a second Sansa View. I was really discouraged and decided I would not try for a third after all the issues I had encountered. Really wanted to like this player, but it would never work. Ended up going with the Samsung T10. I lost 4GB, but at least I have a nice small player that works and has good quality sound. I would be highly cautious purchasing the View. As the two I had never worked properly. Buy at your own risk!"

So Much Potential, But....12/30/2007

What's great about it: Just the right size, Easy to Operate, FM Radio, Records,Replaceable battery. What's not so great: Locks Up & Quits. Pushes "Best Buy Music Store". Pictures hard to add.
". Worked great for two days. Locked Up. Reset it. Worked great for 2 more days. Then locked up & died. Returned it to Best Buy. . Liked the dimensions, the ease of use, the features, the replaceable battery. I liked the price, but did not buy it because of the price. . However, the "Best Buy" version heavily pushes the "Best Buy Music Store" when plugged into USB. I did not want to see this promotion everytime, especially since this was not mentioned on the box. I assumed this was exactly the same SanDisk model as is available in other stores. But it is not same because of the "BBMS" software plus there is a lot of pre-loaded junk you will want to remove. Pictures are harder to add then they should be. . Bottom line -- If this MP3 player will not last, you should not purchase it."

Sansa View A Big Disappointment12/30/2007
By Guitarhero92from Sacramento, CA
What's great about it: Big screen, expandable memory, like the thumbwheel What's not so great: Poor reliability, lack of reliable MTP driver for Vista
"Could never get the MTP driver to load properly, so couldn't sync any subscriber content (could upload files using MSC mode; however, instructions for accessing MSC poorly documented-I had to go to Sandisk's user forum to get it.) Sandisk didn't respond to my e-mail. So while spending nearly an hour on the phone with their tech, player ceased communicating entirely. Downloaded a Vista hotfix that was supposed to help, no luck. Tech rep claimed the lack of MTP support was a Vista problem, said I'd need to contact Microsoft about it, & said he'd never seen that type of problem before. Exchanged it twice, finally gave up & got a Samsung P2. It works great! Family has three older Sansa models, but I can't recommend the View to anyone."

Great Little Machine12/28/2007
By NOTCOMPUTERSAVVY
What's great about it: quality sound, ease of use, nice size What's not so great: short wires on earphones
"I received this as a Christmas present this year. What a great gift and a great machine. Once we figured out the software and figured out exactly how to download the free music we discovered how very easy and fast the process really is. The player did freeze once when it was disconnected prematurely, but I went to the Sansa website to veiw the online owners manual and discovered that simply sliding the power switch on the lower left side of the player in the up position for two seconds will shut the player down, and holding it for 10 seconds will reset the player. Other than this I have had zero problems with this player. Battery life is good, I have the connection to play it through my car radio and have had no problems with that either. It may take a bit of time to figure it all out, but with some patience I believe all will be very happy with this purchase."

What's great about it: record music, and watch videos What's not so great: Device freezes and difficult to upload songs and videos
"I got this device for christmas and I thought I was a pretty good device at a good price. After connecting to computer it was CONFUSING to download the software needed to import songs to the device. It would sometimes freeze when watching videos and sometimes would not let you listen to songs or watch videos. When I charged the device for 2 hours it only stayed on for 1 1/2 Hours. on the box it said " USB 2.0 high-power port required for Hi-Speed transfer and charging" but it doesn't have Hi-Speed transfer or charging. I would recommended to get another device !! DONT GET THIS ONE !!"

This Product is HORRIBLE12/27/2007
By ATLChickfrom Atlanta
What's great about it: looks nice and has good sounds What's not so great: software to start program, earphones too short and not a "quick start" guide like it claims.
"This is a horrible piece of technology. If anyone is interested in this mp3, keep your money and go get an ipod. I was highly disappointed. I tried a million times to upload the software and could never get it work or a "signal" to get the sansa view icon. It claims to be a "quick start," but I had numerous problems, computer freezes, and it just wasn't 'user friendly.' And I'm typically "computer savvy," but this Best Buy software and product made it extremely difficult to even attempt to start transferring music files to my portable device. I'm taking this junk back to Best Buy before the weekend is over! SAVE your money, folks!"

What's great about it: sound is great, easy to download music, love how the wheel feels What's not so great: can't find a case for it
"I also received this mp3 player as an xmas gift. I have to say I love it!! The only thing I can think of as to why its freezing for some is that maybe you have an older pc or operating system? I am not sure, maybe the ones you have are defective because mine is so easy to use and so nice! I am really picky too. I would highly reccomend this to someone seeking an MP3 Player."

Unpredictable to use12/25/2007
By Pirate51from West Michigan
What's great about it: clear sound, easy controls, and sharp video and photo output. The design, overall, was sharp and simple. What's not so great: This device locks up when used in conjunction with the docking station. Manual was of minimal info value.
"I started with a different SanDisk MP3 player model, but had to return it under warranty. Due to availability, I was directed to replace it with the Sansa View Video MP3 (8 GB). Documentation for setting up the new MP3 player was minimal, and referred me to a webpage that was of limited information value. The Sansa View Video has shown problems with lock up when used in conjunction with the recommended docking station, although store personnel in the audio department were consulted prior to purchase. Audio staff also confirmed that the docking station I am using is the correct one for my player, and that no software or firmware modification was needed, when I traded my original MP3 player for the Sansa View Video MP3 model. At this point, I am ready to return the Sansa View Video MP3 player AND docking station, and shop for a better alternative!. I liked the Sansa View package - light, easy to operate, good sound and storage capacity. The video was sharp and easy to see. The downloading was somewhat tricky, and documentation in the MP3 package was too skimpy to be of much help. This device would be a good purchase for someone who values audio and video sound quality, a compact device, and has no intention of operating it via the docking station."

What's great about it: none - software would not load What's not so great: everything apparently
"I received this for a christmas gift. It was the one I choose after some research. When I tried to load the software, the computer would crash. I uninstalled and tried a few more times to no avail The computer had no problems before this, and it uses the correct operating system. I talked to the IT department at work, and they checked my computer and agreed that the problem was with the Best Buy software that is required to use the player. You can not load music without it. It would have been nice if SanDisk gave you a choice as to whether or not you wanted to use the Best Buy software, but they do not. I will be returning this the first chance I get and buying an Ipod. They may not have expandable memory or the other features that originally attracted me to this unit, but at least the software loads so that I can use it. What a useless hunk of junk. Thanks for nothing SanDisk and Best Buy"
