Completely White LCD Screen
What's great about it: NIce screen features and great sound What's not so great: LCD screen goes completely white can't see anything
"Although the LCD screen went completely white, it still plays music if you can find it... This is my second scandisk. My first one was the 8GB which would not power up so up on returning to Best Buy they offered me the 16GB. Needless to say in about a year the LCD screen went completely white. I have since returned it back to Best buy and they informed me that sandisk no longer makes the View MP3 Player.. So now I have to look for better one"

"i have enjoyed owning this product. it has worked great for me. I don't know how so many people have problems with battery life it has been great. I last charged it sunday just about 4 days ago. i use it constantly. i was up north camping used it at night used for the long car ride home ( 3-4 hours) and still have over half a battery. this system has froze only 1 or 2 times but ive never had to format it. the sreen is brilliant. i wish i could find a wall charger for this product. The worst thing about this product is how easily the screen scratches holds a lot of music loads easily. second mp3 i have owned and im glad i got rid of my old one. just wish it had more apps"

What's great about it: It works, barely. What's not so great: Glitchy, sluggish response if and sometimes no response at all.
"I am so disappointed with this product, I will never purchase another SanDisk product after this. The latest buggy firmware version Latest: 01.03.02 was released June 30, 2008. This product is sold as a premium MP3 player but has all but been abandoned by SanDisk. Below are a few of the bugs.
- Shuffle on the all tracks freezes GUI almost completey which makes it nearly unusable.
- GUI is slow and sluggish and several times a day freezes and has to be rebooted.
- Entries on an microSD card appear multiple times: Every time a new file is added, the files added before appear one more time in the list.
- It still takes very long to boot with an microSD card fitted
- Still no wrap arround possible
- Update-bar freezes.
- No detection of removed files: Warning appears: "Missing track" and that's it, no reaction anymore. The entry is not even removed from the data-base after a reboot.
- Font error: All texts are bold, only the "Aktuelle Wiedergabe" isn't."

What's great about it: Everything. sorting, quality, size, features, expansion packs, etc. What's not so great: Kinda slow when it comes to finding music.
"I have owned and used a lot of different MP3 and MP4 players. This one crushes all of them. It has quite a few features that an iPod doesn't. When it comes to sorting, watching videos and plenty of other things. It was really simple to figure out. Plus you can buy MicroSD cards from any electronic store for pretty cheap and fit another few hundred or thousand songs."

"I have had two of these things. I returned my first one after my screen kept showing the same stupid graphic and would not play any songs. Thus I returned it only to get a second one and have the same thing happen 6 months later.
Garbage will never buy again."

"buy an extended warranty,you'll need it-the battery life is very short and after 1 year the LCD scene had lines on it so I sent it back and received a gift card for the price I paid. I would charge the battery and 15 or twenty minutes later it would be red (this was after 1 year) but I just bought my daughter one in Dec08 and after a few short months she is having problems with hers' (freezing,shut-down,blank scene etc.) even when fullly charged, she has a Sansa Fuze.I am taking my refund and buying a Apple Nano, I really wanted a MP3 that has a FM radio but I looked at the reviews for Zune and it's not that great, so I hope I am pleased with the Nano. I would not buy another one of these Sansas' everyone I know who has one complains about the same problems."

"My first mp3 player was ipod shuffle. I loved it, had no problems with it, I just lost it. The only thing i didn't like was not having a screen. I saw this advertised at Bestbuy, so I gave it a shot.
It is NOT worth your money. It is cheap, but it is of a cheap make as well. I returned the first one when i only got 7HOURS of battery life!!!! The second one gave me maybe 2hours more life, and froze about every half an hour, wether i was in music video or radio.
I bought 2 movies of Amazon for this thing, and only one worked. They were in the same format, but the movie Balls of Fury didn't, I got a message that the movie was in the wrong format!!!
Within 6months, the sana froze every time i went to click on it. about a week later, it died and wouldn't come back on AT ALL.
I've heard that it works fine for some people, but it really isn't worth the risk.(I now use my cellphone for music and there's nothing extra I was getting out of that thing that I can't get with a cellphone.)
DON'T TAKE THE RISK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"I went through 3 of these before finally giving up and buying an ipod. Throughout my three sansa views, I had two problems that came up with all of them. The card reader always reads multiple copies of the songs whenever you put more music on the card. The video always hangs, and there is virtually no support for this product anymore seeing as Sansa has seemingly given up on this product. No new firmware has been released in over a year and the current version is full of bugs. If you are lucky, you will get decent battery life, but most people don't. I would not recommend this product unless you plan on doing a return about 6 months down the road. Do yourself a favor and don't buy this if you can afford a better player."

"This mp3 was everything that i wanted when i bought it. the only issue is once you start loading a lot of music onto it it does seem to run into issues. mine would do the "freezing" thing where it would be playing one song but have the info of another. now thats not really that big of an issue but where my problem came in was the fact that sometimes it just wouldnt turn on and some times it would turn on then immediately turn off due to a low battery even when it had just finished charging less than an hour ago. I would actually still recommend this product tho."

"I've had a few Sansa's already... luckily I had the extended warranty... if you buy one of these, you must get the warranty! I love the features and menus, but I hate that it is so unreliable. It freezes and shuts off randomly... A LOT!!! I often play the music for our pool parties and it's embarrassing when it doesn't work properly... it doesn't always react as quickly as it should.... sometimes I will try to skip a song and it doesn't actually skip until a few minutes later. Another thing I didn't see in the other reviews is the placement of the headphone jack.... it's on the bottom, which is a dumb design in my opinion. You can't stand the player upright because the cord is in the way... if it was placed on the side or top it would be much more user friendly. A wall charger would be nice too so you can charge it when a computer isn't available. One thing I really like is that it is compatible with Rhapsody, which the iPods are not."

"The Sansa View is adequate competition to the Apple Ipod line. This mp3 player offers more features at a better cost. It includes a well functioning FM radio, for example. The screen is large,bright , and enjoyable to watch short videos, and scroll through mp3s. The sound quality is above average.The only downside is the scroll wheel. Mine started malfunctioning after a few months. I had it fixed under the 1 year warranty."

"I've owned this unit for a week I'm very disappointed by the performance of this product. Interface is fine It's not much different from previous versions. "Okay, so I thought that this mp3 was the answer to my dreams.You can customize it, it holds a ton of music and videos, and it has good sound and its really cute. But as soon as you've got music on it and you turn on the shuffle, the screen freezes! Sometimes it will freeze for a dozen songs before it kicks itself into gear and displays the right info. Also, I'm on my second View. The first one I didn't even have for a month before it decided it didn't want to play anything. The songs and files were all there. I could access them and play them on the computer, but they would just sit there on the screen of the View. Now, my second one--JUST MOMENTS AGO--did the exact same thing on me and I've only had it for a month! Overall, I loved the storage capacities of the View, but this thing it does with your music is B.S. I play on going to Best Buy tonight to get a different one. Hopefully, I can avoid the iPod, but, well, Que sera...
Do not buy this unless you want to waste your time. At least buy a warrenty like I did! You'll need it."

What's great about it: How much music it holds and i love Rhapsody!! What's not so great: The screen died after only using it for a few days
"I got this as a gift exactly one week ago today and after listening to it for awhile I noticed that the screen no longer appeared. The music was still playing and the spin-wheel thingy would light up blue, but the screen is not lit up. I thought for sure that it was out of battery life so I turned it off. I got home and plugged it up to my computer and NOTHING! The spin-wheel lit up blue but the screen did not. I am hoping that the person who bought it for me still has the receipt because this is SO going back to Best Buy. I will have to conform to the masses and get an Ipod (which I was really trying to avoid) Buyer beware. Sure it looks cute, but looks aren't everything!"

"I have read a lot of complaints [not just on this site] about the short battery life of this mp3 player. So before any more complaints come about it, here is how to fix the problem. After looking up online through forums about the same topic, I found that you MUST:
Hold down the HOME button WHILE turning off the player. If you simply power down the mp3 without holding the home button, it will simply go into "standby mode" and slowly lose battery life. This would be functional if you're just shutting off your mp3 player for a short time so it turns back on more quickly. But if you *HOLD DOWN THE HOME BUTTON WHILE TURNING THE PLAYER OFF* you will see "System Shutdown" appear on the screen, and then will get the approx. 35 [probably more like 30-35] hours of battery life this player indicates.
It's kind of sketchy that Sansa doesn't explain this in the booklet or anything, but as I said, after reading through forums I found this to be the problem, because with only shutting it down into standby mode, I was getting about 5 hours of battery life, and thought my player was defective; when in fact I simply wasn't shutting down the player the "right" way.
Other than that, the player did tend to crash / freeze; even though I did update to the latest firmware upgrade, but newer players are out which tend to be a little more expensive, but then again have more reliability. I'm not sure if more firmware updates will fix these crash problems, but it may be worth the shot with the price this low.
Overall, a good, easy to use player, with amazing battery life [when one knows how to shut down the player "correctly] compared to other models"

"I was very excited when I bought this MP3 player but am now disappointed. It looks good, quality sound and nice screen. The wheel no longer works and is now broken. It would freeze on me all the time and get stuck when I wanted to change or skip a few songs. You can only plug it in to your computer. I was never able to find a wall charger for the MP3 player. Good luck trying to use your computer and charger the player. My recommendation is that if you purchase this player make sure you have all the warranties and an extended one if you can. Too bad. I really wanted to like it."

"Brought the thing home and charged the battery. Next day was using it and noticed that battery life seemed short but thought maybe I was mistaken. Recharged the next night and then only got a little less than 5 hours of continuous playing of music files: a lot less than the up to 35 hours advertised. Previous had and e280r and had not major problems with it and the battery life was over 16 hours. Will be returning it today: not sure if I will replace with same model or get another."
