"I purchased this MP3 player because I got my daughter an ipod nano for her birthday and eventually wanted something myself. I certainly did not want to spend as much on myself for no particular occasion, so I shopped. I could have gotten the ipod shuffle for about the same price as this MP3 player but really wanted more options then the ipod shuffle had to offer. I am very pleased with my decision. It is VERY small. This I only found out when it came but not until then. It hasn't caused an issue thus so far, but I can foresee potential problems if I don't keep track of the little bugger. The sound is great, it's easy to use for a novice and it's very sleek. I would recommend this to almost anyone."

Not Audio Book Material

What's great about it: Upload is very easy
What's not so great: Not good for files longer than 25 min.
"Great player if you need something chip and easy, but for audio books it is terrible.
It is click and drop to upload files but there are very few options to organize tracks.
I am using it mostly for listening audio books. Many audio books downloaded from public library are divided in to tracks about 1hour long. The player can not restart a track from the same point if you over 25 minutes in it. If trying to forward; it jumps to the next track. Also the counter does not go beyond 60min. If your track is 1 hour and 20 min long the counter restarts from 0 after first hour is over."

Bad first try, great second

What's great about it: small, simple
What's not so great: batteries, no ac adapter
"I bought the first one a couple days ago. You have to play around with the settings before XP can read your player. So I updated the firmware. This apparently resets the player to default settings. By the time I got the firmware updated and tried to change settings the batteries were dead and wouldnt recharge. I took it back to best buy and they exchanged it. The second one works great!"

What's great about it: Easy to use, consistently reliable, amazingly durable.
What's not so great: Better headphones.
"I bought it Dec. 2007 for my 12yr.old son and was skeptical to say the least but he was very pleased and went straight to our computer to load it up. It was very easy, we didn't have to download anything to get started (WindowsVista). It is simple, easy to read and find your music. Unfortunayely about 2 months later my son accidentally washed it in a load of laundry! We of course figured he'd be saving to buy another but unbelievably after letting it dry out thoroughly I put it on the charger and voila... it lit up and started charging! I gave it a full charge before trying it and it works fine. I would recommend it for any age, my 16 yr. old daughter has the pink one, it's very cute."

What's great about it: small, storage size, FM radio
What's not so great: battery life, not linux compatible
"I appreciate the ease of navigation through the menus and the small size, but the battery life is nowhere near advertised and it will not work with ubuntu linux. I've seen 8 hours from it from 'full battery' down to 'won't turn on'. If I leave it sit on a full charge overnight it is half full in the morning which will give me approximately 1-2 hours of play time. If left for 2 days from a full charge, it will display half charge, but only last 10 min or so before shutting off. I chose this particularly for the FM option and lack of extras. I'm a simple guy and this had everything I was looking for at the right price."

Go with good quality and get an iPod

"Don't shake it. Mine froze and didn't do anything wrong. I got an iPod touch and didn't have any problems with it yet. I love my iTouch and glad I didn't stick with this one. Storage on here isn't that great either... Go with a Zune or better, an iPod."

What's great about it: the price is cheap, good battery life, compact and lightweight.
What's not so great: can't really see the screen under bright sunlight, bad headphones.
"I got this last year when it's thxgiving sales. I thought it was money well spend. But now I kinda rethink that idea. The price seems alright when I got it. But just less than a month later, the headphones stop working. So i try to twist the headphone in the jack but that didnt work. So I return it and got a different one and the same style.
So I thought the problem was solved, but guess again. Now the headphones that comes with it stop working.
I am pretty much give up on that and use my other headphones."

Great for the GYM!

What's not so great: If the clip breaks you can't use the armband anymore.
"The SanDisk Clip is great if your a person that loves the gym. When I first purchased my SanDisk Clip it was to keep from having to use a CD player at the Gym. Now I feel like this is one of the best investments I've made. When I go to the gym, I put on my armband and go for it. It is very easy to use even without looking at the buttons. And it's small enough to fit in my pocket or purse. I love that I can take it anywhere."

What's not so great: the clip after a while will come off battery life
"over all the sansa clip is great but it really doesnt have a 15 hour battery more like 8-10 hours i went to a trip and it was 4 going and 4 hours coming so about the time we got back it was dead even though i turned if off when we arrived the clip in the back you can take off but once you take it off the first time you have to be careful because you may know it against something over i love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

"I purchased my sandisk right around Christmas, it was a decent price and a good value. I can store all the songs that I want on there...I have different playlists on there so I don't necessarily have to search through all the songs to find my favorites for when I am working out. My sandisk came with a strap that goes around your neck which I find really handy. It is very easy to sync music to the device. I am really happy with it and never work out without it. It keeps me going"

"This is the first MP3 player I've purchased. it's great for my 7 year old daughter and myself. The sound is better than I expected. I also use it in our car after purchasing separate cable that runs through car radio.
It's small, so it's easier to lose, but the clip is a great idea. I PUT IT THROUGH THE WASHING MACHINE CYCLE ACCIDENTALLY and it still works!
The cable for charging it is short, which isn't a problem when charging it on computer, but in the car it means you have to lean over closer to the charge outlet to change see songs etc."

What's not so great: somewhat short battery life.
"I received the Sansa Clip(in pink!!) as a gift. My first MP3 player. It is easy to use, loading the music was a breeze. To my amazement, it held about 300 of my favorite songs!! Now, I switch out songs & artists at will.
Also, I frequently use the FM radio feature to listen to the shows on NPR. I enjoyed it so much, I have bought two more to give as gifts!!"
