The Guitar Hero series is a very entertaining one. It's a game anyone can pick up and start playing but includes ample challenges for the heavier game looking to master something most never will. The song list is decent but the budget was lacking so there are more one-hit-wonder bands and others most have never heard of.
People criticize saying you should just learn a real guitar and this can't possibly make you feel like you're actuall playing. But, it does draw you in and is a good option for someone who wants to feel like they're part of the song without spending the time/money on a real guitar. It's especially good of you're a fan of rock music and have a good sound system on your TV.
What's great about it: Fun. Easy to learn but tough to master
What's not so great: Songs could be better

I still love playing GH2. The characters and the whole feel of the game just seem a bit edger and in your face than Rock Band. I think the song list is heavier, but there doesn't seem to be as many songs to download compared to Rock Band. The explorer guitar is cool, but its a little too small and seems "toy like".
What's great about it: Great song list
What's not so great: Guitar is a little 'toy like"

I wouldnt recommend this one, just get the newer ones for 10 dollars more. This does have classic songs, I admit but GH3 AND GHA are much better.
What's great about it: Songs
What's not so great: Graphics and the new ones are out

Wow! I got this game free when I purchased my xbox 360 from Best Buy. It is amazing. I love playing Guitar Hero. The controls are easy to use and I feel like a artist when I play. I have only played the single player mode and still playing the game on easy. It is very hard but I think anyone can improve after practice. Practice maker perfect. So the game represents a guitar hero. You have different struts and a dummy bar.
What's great about it: Very Entertaining
What's not so great: Nothing like a real guitar

This is the best of the guitar heros because it has the best choice of classical rock songs. I love all guitar heros but this is the best.

This is a good game; a few tweaks could have made this a great game. The game is great for playing with friends. Whether it is in the competitive or co-op mode you will have fun rocking out with our friends. The game has a good track list, and all of the song packs on Xbox live will make it a better track list (if you are willing to pay for them). This game starts you off playing in school gyms and little bars and as you progress you eventually play in large well known venues. You get paid cash for your performances, that you will be able to spend in the store in the game to unlock new songs, guitars, players, outfits, custom finishes and more. The game works for anyone. People who have never played before can start off on easy and normal and work there way up, and people who have played before can start off on hard and challenge themselves. The game does not do a good job of connecting the dots though. You play through the game, moving up in pay and venue, but there is no story to go with the game, no reason as to why you are doing this. My other complaint is that there is no online multiplayer. So unless you have friends over, the game gets old, fast! But as I have said it is a great game to play if you have friends over.
What's great about it: Fun game, good tracklist, lots of stuff to buy
What's not so great: NO story, NO online multiplayer
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is probably the one game out of the three GH's that I love to play the most. It has a wonderful selection of songs, my foavorite being Dead!, by MCR. I have this game for PS2 and it is not as good as the one for Xbox360. I wish I had Xbox360!
What's great about it: Great songs
What's not so great: none

If you like playing the guitar this game is for you! If not, there really isn't anything more to it and don't get it. The characters are all ''fun'' and interesting, and it doesn't get old because you keep trying to beat your score or make more money. They have some pretty great songs on there but it would be nice to have some current ones also. A fun game to play at a party, or even by yourself.
What's great about it: Playing guitar the easy way
What's not so great: Songs get old, all classic rock
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is a good game, I purchased GH3 first and it prompted me to pick up 2 because of the music titles. Great songs and loads of fun. They really did upgrade GH3, but that still doesn't take away from GH2, it's just as fun, maybe pick it up on sale or something.
What's great about it: fun
What's not so great: none..but GH3 is way better

I "Recommended" the game with 4 stars, I certainly don't think this game is "Outstanding". On the Xbox 360 you have the option of downloading new songs (for a little real money) and you have the achievements that are fun to get. I think one of the major things this game is lacking is the online multiplayer. This game is a lot of fun as it is, and I am lucky to have a fiancé that enjoys playing with me as well. But since a good number of the achievements are for co-op it would be a lot better to be able to play this over Xbox live. This is the one reason it lost a star in my eyes.
As far as game play goes it is certainly a lot of fun, it has more then 70 songs including newer ones and older ones. In this game a great deal of them are however covers of the originals and not sang/played by the original artists. They are still fun to play though. The difficulty levels do give the game some nice replay mostly because until you beat easy it is very difficult to play medium and so on through all 4 levels of play.
Guitar Hero II also has a lot of unlockables that you can "buy" in the in game store with the money you earn during your tour. (The easy difficulty does not give you any money) You can "buy" new characters and guitar "finishes" (basically skins). Also, new songs by no-name artists probably made specifically for this game that you can play in the campaign mode but not earn money for. There are also new guitars to unlock and buy in the store. To earn money you need to play songs, every 3 stars or higher song gives you some money (also if you replay a song and get a higher star you will get the difference because higher stars give you more money).
In conclusion, this is a very excellent game and I strongly recommend it to all. Just make sure if you are in to getting all of the achievements in games that you have someone good at video games to play with.
What's great about it: Great songs, fun time
What's not so great: This version has no guitar with it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

If you liek music you will love this game that is for sure I know that i do. What can I say about this game. It is fun to play and addictive at that. I don't play this game every day but when i do get around to playing it I play for hours at a time. Always wantign to do better get those 5 stars. The only things that i realy don'e like about the game are. There is only one guitar style choice diffrent style guitars would be awesome. There is no Mult player using live the only way to play with freinds is if you have two controllers and they come over. I wish they could get some more music selections for this game. More older music cause i love the calssics. I will be getting the third one for X mass i can't wait. If you are looking for a fun time alone or with family, and you love muis this i the game for you.
What's great about it: game rocks what can i say
What's not so great: No Mult player game play
