What's great about it: ?
What's not so great: Pretty much everything
It lasted less than a month. I have the same complaints as most with the "buttons" and the USB connection. Mine had problems with the headphone jack. After about 2 weeks if you moved at all it would cut out. It was fairly easy to put music onto it but I wasn't real impressed with the software and it being able to support certain podcasts I subscribe to. I was able to fix that because Itunes worked well with all my subscriptions so I would download them there and then transfer to the Samsung program. All around peice of s**t if you ask me. I also had an Insignia player too that was horrible, read my review there too. So now I am thinking I may have to break down and spend the cash for an Ipod.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: Lightweight
What's not so great: Controls too sensitive
It takes very little movement or even a slight brush across the top of this MP3 player to react. Then if you hit the main control button you find you are cycling through all the features. You definitely have to use the hold button when using it. It makes it very distracting as a work out tool.
I've had mine about a month and now and it is suddnely only providing 30 minutes of play time. The charger button often pops out and is pretty flimsy as another reviewer noted.
It is easy to put music on it, and it is a cool design and color, but I'm very sorry I purchased it. It find it a very frustrating piece of equipment

What's great about it: Variable Speed Playback, compact, decent storage, decent battery
What's not so great: the popout USB seems VERY flimsy, controls a little touchy
I like just about everything about this MP3 player... it plays secure(DRM) WMA files, lots of storage, allows variable speed playback (good for audiobooks). BUT... the popout USB connection is very flimsy, and I'm pretty sure if I keep this, it will end up breaking. Also, the controls use just touch the surface type interface, and I think my fingers are too big, because half the time it hits one I didn't mean too. I would rather just have push buttons.

What's great about it: looks good
What's not so great: crashed without warning!
i bought this mp3 player on saturday, the quality of the product was pretty good for the price: easy to download, voice recorder, fm radio....who could ask for more! tuesday morning it stopped working. it won't charge or turn on...not even so much as a flicker of light to indicate that it's going to work.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: FM radio and voice recorder
What's not so great: belt clip???
i was looking for an mp3 player that i didnt have to spend an arm and leg on....cough cough Ipod. anyways i went online and found this one. reviews sounded okay...very few bad ones and it had just what i needed. first of all the price is great. you cant beat that. second, you do get the screen and to pick from some great colors. to reply to another review i read. i have dropped mine in the gym and no scratches or breaks. the best part? - you dont HAVE to sign up for any club to download music. i have yet to upload the CD because i dont have a home computer. its great. the belt clip is my only probable con. ive worked out several times with the mp3 and it has yet to pop off or slide away, but it does look like it is not on there too tight. it works better than you would think. im actually really excited about the purchase. very happy.

What's not so great: The Best Buy Music store CD wouldn't install
I was in the market for a new MP3 player as my old one required a battery which I had to replace about twice a month. I did some research online and discovered that this MP3 player had everything I was looking for and more for a great price compared to an IPOD.
It's so easy to add songs and doesn't need a battery!
The only thing I had a problem with was the Best Buy Music Store CD that came with the player. I had a hard time installing it and it still doesn't work. I didn't consider this in my rating as you don't need the CD to use the MP3 player.

What's great about it: ????
What's not so great: Flimsy, all the way around
I am very disappointed in this player. I had last years model that I LOVED. Very sturdy and durable. The connector on it started to fail so I went in to exchange it for a new one. When the kid at the store showed me this model, I was shocked. The flash drive on it "pops" out at the push of a button, which touching it, it wiggles back and forth. The plastic feels like with one wrong drop or something set on it that it will crack or something. And the belt clip is a joke. Sure to bust off in the workout process. I exchanged it for a Sansa clip and this one has a cruddy battery life. Hoping to exchange it for the bigger Samsung. After looking at those reviews, it will be worth the extra money. I guess you get what you pay for for sure. If you don't plan on using the flash drive on this, or use it a lot, I guess it is worth it.

What's not so great: needs a USB cord to plug into speaker, other than that, there's nothing.
i was looking for something NOT expensive, cause i was tired of using my moms CD player, and this was perfect. it had everything i was looking for and my brother got an ipod so i was able to compare and he was even jealous of the FM radio!

What's great about it: easy to use. holds a boat load of music. suits my needs.
What's not so great: have not found any.
I totally love this MP3 player. I was looking at Ipods and I found that I liked this much better. It is so easy to use and holds more music then I could ever imagine. The light up screen is a major plus and the fm radio is a nice feature, it even has a voice recorder. Very happy with the MP3.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Many useful features, compact size, great price
What's not so great: lack of manly colors, belt clip doesn't hold well, screen is hard to see bright daylight
I wanted an mp3 player for under a $100 so I narrowed my choice to the Samsung U3.
The Samsung has 2GB memory, it can shuffle, plus it has a screen, a FM radio, a voice recorder, ability to switch between playlists, equalizer, and chargers straight through my laptop. It does all this for the same price as the iPod shuffle.
The audio sounds great and the earbuds are comfortable. Comes with software that will sync with your mp3 files and/or iTunes library so you can tranfer podcasts/music to your Samsung and start enjoying it right away.
The negatives. The belt clip it comes with is not very snug. The screen is hard to see in bright sunlight (better than no screen, though). I wish there were better color choices.
Bottom line, for the money, you can't go wrong.

Doesn't Play Ogg Vorbis

What's not so great: Doesn't play Ogg Vorbis files
On the box, and on the Best Buy website it says that this player will play Ogg Vorbis sound files. It does not.
Furthermore, it is incompatible with Linux computers.
If you are interested in using a modern player with open source software, then buy a Sansa c2xx or e2xx and put Rockbox on it. I returned the Samsung and got a Sansa c250 for the same price. Within 30 minutes, I was playing Ogg files.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
