great moniter for a good price, this was the cheapest 22 inch at the sale price.
to be honest I have not used the speakers, didn't even plug them in. what I wanted was a great moniter, not speakers. I am extremely happy with this purchase. it is my first LCD moniter. I will purchase the extra warranty because you can swap it in the store with it. Samsung doesn't get great reviews on it's customer service.

What's great about it: Beautiful image quality

When buying a monitor with built-in speakers, I'd like to actually be able to USE those speakers. But all 3 of my staff begged me to disconnect them and use the old free-standing speakers instead. The sound is horribly high-pitched and annoying, so that's a major disappointment. But we are keeping the monitor because the image quality is wonderful. No trouble with installation. We did have to do a lot of adjustments to bring down the brightness level, though, it was way too bright on default settings. I would buy another Samsung TV or monitor, but knowing how bad these speakers are, I would not buy this model again.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: Image quality + inputs
What's not so great: built-in speakers
As expected, the built-in speakers are okay for watching tv shows and short video clips. It's horrible at producing any sort of bass, and distorts at high levels - but it's expected.
The inputs are good with (1) DVI-D and (1) VGA.
I use my xbox360 exclusively for this and the image quality is excellent. There is no image cutoff or any centering issues.

This is a great monitor i bought it with my computer purchase, and have used it with my Ps3 and a good thing to note is it operates in 720p. Tried 1080P but not optimum setting warning came up. Blue ray movies look great as well as extremely vivid images. This is my first LCD and am very very glad i decided to buy.

Got this monitor for very good deal during Thanksgiving last year. Amazing price for an amazing monitor. I would highly recommend this if you can get it for around that price. I use it to watch movies all the time and the picture is great.

This is my first flat screen. For most people it is probably okay but I'm disappointed with it. The back light is unsatisfactory for anyone involved with graphics. The screen provides uneven lighting. Only the middle part of the screen is accurate. The top is too dark and the bottom too light. After much difficulty finding a human voice to talk to at Samsung, I returned my purchase to the company and was sent a replacement. The new one is only marginably better. I gave up and figured the product just isn't that good. I'm now saving up for a good graphics Apple monitor.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

This is probably one of the best display panels I have seen in a long time. I think I should mention for anyone who might question the panel type, it is a PVA panel and not a TN. Colors are bright, brilliant, and accurate, and blacks are deep and, well, black and not some dark shade of gray, and all text sizes are sharp and clear. The response time is fast enough that there is no ghosting in games or video. The built-in webcam is awesome (works on Mac & Windows, FYI), the mic array does well to cancel out ambient noise (though it works only so far, but on a desktop I can't imagine it being a problem), and there is a built-in USB hub. The stand is removable for wall mounting.
The speakers suck, but that's almost a given with any display with built-in speakers. The connectors for the DVI and VGA are counter-intuitive to wall mounting: They ought to be pointing down towards the bottom and not straight back. (If their intention was to make it wall mount friendly, why did they do this?) The included stand is not height adjustable and has limited angle adjustment.
The speakers suck, but that's almost a given with any display with built-in speakers. I received this monitor for Xmas, 2007 and I loved it. Easy to set up, great picture and I even liked the speakers. However after 8 months, the power inverter (?) failed, at least this is what tech support told me, meaning the monitor will turn on for 2 seconds and then the picture goes black. However with the 3 year warranty, I thought great. I will submit the online service request, get a refurnished monitor in a couple of days and be back to a great display. Was I mistaken! A couple of days later, I reviewed the service request online and no action had been taken. I called and was told it would be 7-14 business days. So I waited. After 2 weeks, I called again and was told there was a backlog and it would now be 3 weeks. After 3 weeks, I called again and was told it would 'be a little while'. No one can give me an answer as to when I can expect the replacement. In the future, I will avoid the Samsung brand since there is no backing behind the product.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: amazingly sharp picture, vibrant colors, very good looking design
What's not so great: a little hard to adjust initially, requires much tweaking, speakers although convenient, aren't very good
I feel now, that I made a great purchase that I'm very happy with. However, when I first tried using it, I was somewhat disappointed. It took about 35-40 additional minutes to adjust & properly tweak it. There are a lot of controls and settings to work with, which is probably why I am so satisfied. They allowed me to be very specific and precise with my adjustments. Now, I love this monitor, vivid color, amazingly sharp picture. Built in speakers are convenient but not very good. Very low amplitude & no bass at all. But this makes them great for when you want to be the only one to hear them. Otherwise I use separate ones. This is still a great monitor. Pictures and video have never looked so good.

I have had this for 3 days and still have not been able to set this up properly. Does not work with some of my games. Great picture when I am just working with photos. Internet text is hard to read. Will be a great monitor when I can finally get this set up.

This is my first LCD purchase. I have always used CRT's up until today. The monitor that this replaced was a Samsung 997DF CRT monitor. I bought directly from my Bestbuy store. As always, staff was EXCELLENT! Didn't have a display model, but I didn't hesitate buying anyway... I knew if I didn't like it I would take it back.
Here's the scoop, opened it up connected it. WOW was I disapointed :( It was no where near the quality of my CRT. I spent an hour tweaking everything. Wouldn't you know, 2 hours later, I was loving the monitor... and now 5 hours later... I can't live without it... There's a big adjustment from CRT to LCD. Since I never had one I guess my brain had to adjust to the crispness, LCD ness. But there is no way I will go back to CRT.
I absolutely love this monitor. I love Panasonic. And the PRICE! Go Best Buy!

Bought this monitor yesterday. I wanted to upgrade from an Envision 17". My friend needed a bigger monitor so he inherited the Envision. But anyways, so far this seems like a very nice monitor. Vibrant colors and sharp. I read on the reviews here that people thought this contrast ratio was 700:1 instead of 1000:1. On the box it came in, it says 1000:1. Maybe Samsung used to have it as 700:1, but upgraded it. It was a real waste of time for Samsung to put the speakers in. They are pitiful to say the least. But I didn't buy this monitor for the speakers. It would have been an added plus if they sounded good, but that's ok.

If you are looking for a bigger monitor than what originally came with your last computer purchase, then this is what you want. Such clear and perfect picture that people from across the room can see what is going on the monitor. I was only expecting to do everything that I was doing before just on a bigger monitor. Wow, what a great monitor! Now only if the built in speakers could sound better. If your music or any other types of audio needs to be heard, find an alternate set of speakers. These have no, I said no, bass response. None. Very tinny. And no way of adjusting that. Then again, didn't buy it for the sound quality.

What's great about it: Looks very nice and gives very nice quality
What's not so great: Can't adjust it's physical features
My family and I decided that we were tired of the same old screen, so we went to buy a nice, new one. We're a big fan of samsung and the quality from this screen seemed really good, so we opted to get it. It's still a pretty good monitor, especially if you're watching things like movies on it, but the only thing is that you can't really tilt it up and down or anything. If one were to lay down, the screen would look black from below, so something would need to be stuck under the base to tilt it.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: good picture, Samsung reliability, dvi cable included.
What's not so great: not much adjustability with the stand, speakers are a bit weak.
Be aware the the contrast ratio listed on the BestBuy technical sheet is wrong. The Samsung 220WM is 700:1, not 1000:1. Not a big deal for a first time buyer, but may be important for more high end video + graphics users.

I based my purchase on the fact that it was a 1000:1 contrast ratio monitor. I could not pass up the sales price! After getting the monitor, I was still feeling good about the purchase, so I was surfing the web looking a other stores comparing prices, when I saw a description of the product being different from BestBuy's! I checked Samsung's website, which is what I should have done prior to purchasing it, and sure enough, the monitor has a 700:1 contrast ratio, instead of 1000:1.
With many monitors what 2500:1, 3000:1, 10000:1 contrast ratios, the 700:1 contrast ratio is now old technology. Grant it that there is a big price difference for the higher contrast ratio monitors.
So, overall, I can't be very upset. Even with the error in the description, for the price that I paid, it is still a good looking monitor.
Oh, the speakers do suck! It should be noted that this is great for an office or for an environment that you do not need to have loud speakers, etc.

I just purchased this monitor yesterday to replace my dinosaur CRT monitor. After reading others' reviews, I decided to get this one. I'm a Mac guy, so I worried a bit about compatibility. After the set-up (very simple), I fired it up and everything was great! My only beef is the fixed stand issue that will be solved by placing a shelf or something on the desk to raise the height. All in all, this is a great monitor.
