Worth the Money   07/01/2008

What's great about it: Great for info on characters and items
What's not so great: People try to use this for strategy

"I purchased this guide in order to have more data on items and classes after my first play through. I learned alot about the items I missed via multiplayer and treasure hunting.

People should play through the game and not use this guide on their first play through. It gives too many battles hints which was half the fun of playing through this re-make in the dark after so many years.

A must have for a 2nd play through if you're like me and try for a 100% complete FF game save"

Must Have PSP Title   04/20/2008

What's great about it: Great Strategy Game, Great Storyline
What's not so great: Slightly Repetitive

"A Great Game on the PSX, now ported to the PSP. Tactics' story has been one of great acclaim over the years. It is full of twists, betrayal and secrets that is brilliantly woven together to create an ornate, but not complicated, story that pulls you into the struggles and stories of your party. Half of the time, you will find yourself playing just to learn more of the story.

The Gameplay is very strategic. Over the course of the game, 22 classes are made available to you. These classes define your character's stats, abilities and forms of combat, and range from Chemist to Ninja to Arithmetician to Mime. Every class has a set of abilities that can be learned with JP, a secondary set of experience points. Your class' abilities can be augmented by another set of attacks, creating an almost infinite number of ways to build up characters and ways to mix attacks.

At the end of the day, Final Fantasy Tactics is a great game. An enjoyable story, addicting gameplay, beautiful graphics and a great score shadow the minor problems that you might encounter. I strongly recommend this to any PSP owner, and demand it to any RPG can with a PSP."

Amazing RPG   02/15/2008
By Aalona

What's great about it: Great Strategy RPG Remake
What's not so great: Old PS1 Graphics

"This a a wonderful strategy RPG from the old days of the original Playstion a good while back. It is the same game with a few new little tricks that add to the over all game. Its like a game of chess where you control one side and move the peices like on a chess board, only that its FF character models with FF classes in a FF world.
The only down fall is that it is FFT for the PS1 no upgraded graphics or anything. It might not be shinny and pretty like other games but it is a classic with new fetures that any RPG play would love to plug countless hours."

Casual Gamers Beware!   01/14/2008
By MikeB1982 from California

What's great about it: Excellent storyline, exceptional artwork, somewhat self-explanatory (via extensive in-game tutorials)
What's not so great: STEEP learning curve! Combat system unlike any FF title (except the original FFT for PS)

"The game opens, as all FF do, with a cutscene immediately followed by a fight. If you've never played any FF games, or aren't a "hardcore" RPGer, this may seem a little daunting at first. The combat system isn't very intuitive, and the steep learning curve I mentioned in the "cons" is because of this. The jobs / abilities that your character can have / learn take a little experimenting with. The in-game tutorials are EXTREMELY helpful. They cover everything from gameplay basics to combat to character stats. However, you will probably find yourself re-attempting several of the games many fight scenes, so my advice there is to save early and save often (an old adage that still rings true for RPGs).

If you can deal with the fact that you will not master this game over-night, then this is definitely the RPG for you. The music and graphics are exceptional for a handheld system, and the story line is so deep and well-written that you may often find yourself hoping for the fights to be over so you can see what's going to happen next with the characters. Your characters default name is Ramza, and the game follows his story in the years after the 50 years war in the land of Ivalice. It's a well known story (due to the original release of the game), but this revised version offers so much more for the player to tell that story. New classes, new abilities and weapons, etc.

A must have for RPG-fans. Again, the only reason this game doesn't get 5-stars is because of the VERY steep learning curve. Be prepared to spend your first few hours just trying to learn how to play and what all your characters jobs allow them to do."
