What's great about it: Big screen, a lot of memory, fairly cheap. What's not so great: Zune software, no sound controls
"I think this is a very good product. I like that it can hold a ton of songs and that it has a big screen. The only downfalls I have seen with it is that the zune software is a pain in the....well you know...The other downfall is that you cannot adjust the bass and their is no equalizer."

What's great about it: great video, good audio, lots of storage What's not so great: fookie software, no EQ
"ok here's the deal... the first Zune was bulky and the battery life was a joke... this one is alot better in alot of ways, the battery life is alot better 22 hrs, the video is decent and having a big screen doesn't hurt. the new scroll interface is really touchy so i turned it off. transfer of audio and video was alot easier than it's predacessor althoe i do recomend using WMV or MP4 format because the software seems to have a problem with ACC or H264 also be careful about changing album art using media player, the software wont let you change it back....even if you un install the software . the premium headphones are great....wonder whay Apple didn't think of that...and this thing has a radio, something Apple has no concept of. about the only peev is that this unit has no EQ and finding accessories is almost impossible.... but other than that....not bad"

"I did quite a bit of research on MP3 players prior to purchasing this device. I am completely thrilled with it, and have even persuaded two friends to buy one (they're happy too). Absolutely great device. Pros: It comes with a very good set of premium ear buds, tons of storage space, plays all sorts of formats, podcasts, videos, and really good battery life (I've gone a few days). I haven't used the wireless synch yet, and have turned that feature off. Cons: No built in equalizer? And really, how can Microsoft NOT support their PlaysForSure format??? That's almost criminal. My comparison to other MP3 players: * iPod's. Compared to the iPod, the Zune supports a wider range of music formats, supports an unlimited subscription service (versus iTunes pay per song), and is much more affordable. The competing iPod is a couple hundred more. I'm convinced people buy iPod's because they don't know any better, they have a ton of songs in locked AAC format, or they're really into Mac's. * Creative Zen. I almost bought the new Zen device. It seriously competes with the Zune. It supports the Yahoo music service (Zune doesn't) and supports the same file formats. Downside was you had to buy extra software for the podcast support, and storage was less than half for the same price. Still a very good product."

"I got this for Christmas and I loved the first couple of weeks. Then it froze at the play screen and it wouldn't charge or none of the controls would work even if it wasn't on hold. Don't buy this."

What's great about it: Squircle touchpad control, capacity, wi-fi sync, well constructed What's not so great: No cases available yet, No WMP playlists
"I bought the Zune 80 just after Thanksgiving. The squircle control is fantastic, simple yet very functional. It's natural, intuitive, responsive and makes navigating the Zune a joy. The Wi-fi features should be considered mandatory on devices like this and works great. Automatically picks up your config when docked to the computer and just works, even on secured wifi networks. The FM Radio tuner is strong and gets better reception than my home receiver. One con for me was the lack of integration or support for WMP playlists or even incorporating some of that functionality into the Zune software. WMP does nice autoplaylists and I haven't seen similar function in the Zune software. Also, even though the Zune is built from quality materials, I'd like to put it in a protective case just to be sure. I can't find any made for the new 80. This is something that should have been available day 1. Overall, a great buy. If features, function, design and value are important to you, this is your pick."

"Everything in this product is great accept one thing. The marketplace. It does not offer any movies and I did not know this before i purchased it. So you are forced to convert your dvds or simply use limewire. The touch pad is very easy to use and much faster than an ipod. The FM radio is great as well."

What's great about it: Big bright screen, drag and drop, wireless, radio ETC.. What's not so great: lack of video on marketplace
"This is an amazing product, the interface is amazing, the touch pad is much faster and overall better than the ipod touch wheel. The material the zune is made of is great, I had a 30 GB zune for about a year and didnt have a scratch on it. The 80 Gb is the same way, unlike the aluminum covers of ipods and otehr mp3 thats scratch horribly, the zune is very hardy. I really don't understand how people say it scratches easily because they are all made of the same material...This zune is so much thinner and lighter than the previous versions and the software is great. I've never had problems with the zune, its always been great, and this 80gb version is only better."

"The Zune is GREAT! There are only two problems that I see with it is.... The conversion required to put DVD's on the zune is a pain but can be done. The other thing is the software, which in my opinion is really nicely put, but is very hard to get used to. Though I see these problems, I LOVE my zune and would defiantly get this for anyone in my family or my friends."

"I bought my Zune today and have been playing with it all day. To start off it is a wonderful product and I am glad I bought it. The interface is easy to navigate and the FM radio is a great plus if your sick of your own music. The video quality is gratifyingly clear and precise and it is a lot more durable than the IPods (dropped my zune a couple of times already, not even a scratch). A few things that bug me though are the auto sync feature, the lack of actual movies on the marketplace, and the difficulty using the zune music transfer program. The marketplace has a ton of music but for videos only offers podcasts and music videos, which is a big letdown for all that free space. The auto sync does not let you use your Zune when it is hooked up to the computer and when you first hook it up (unless you change it before hand) it will take all the pics, music and videos on your computer regardless (which is very annoying to delete and go through all that junk). I think the software supposed to be on your computer has quite a few flaws that can be easily fixed, but all in all the Zune is an MP3 player easily matching, and in some areas, outshining the IPod's"

"Don't get this. The device works great BUT the software does not work on Vista or XP. The software locks up the XP computer, and the software won't even run on the Vista computer. I have spent 7 hours on the phone with Zune, and IT STILL DOES NOT WORK!!! Missing songs, incompatiblity with Windows Media Player, paid downloads don't work, terrible customer support, it's all here. If you value your sanity, get an Ipod!!"

What's great about it: Videos, Pics, Podcasts.... all that stuff What's not so great: It starts to wear down after a while
"When I first got my Zune, I loved it. It worked great. After about 4 months or so, it started to wear down. It would freeze constantly and the battery couldn't hold a charge as long as as it used to. For some reason, it also scratches easily. The Zune Marketplace is very slow loading and always gives me problems. They just upgraded it to a newer version. I had no problems at all with the old version of the marketplace but now i can't log in to the new one. I can't even buy any songs since i cant login and limewire is hard to use with it. You'll love your Zune when you first get it but it will eventually give you a lot of trouble."

"I've had my 30GB Zune for over a year now and I'm very happy with it. I had an Ipod before but decided to go w/ a Zune and am glad I did. It has a bigger/better screen and the sound is much better than my old ipod. It also doesn't skip like my ipod did. Two great features that the Zune has that the ipod doesn't is the WiFi and the radio. The WiFi is great because I can sync my Zune without having to connect it to my computer, and I can also send/receive songs from any other Zune. The radio is also nice if you just want to listen to something other than the music you have. I've never had any problem with my Zune, but if I did I would definitely buy another one!"

"I bought the original zune back in november 2006. I loved it from the gate but I unfortunately I had to send it back to Microsoft for work because my screen went blank on me. I had my zune for a year now but I'm out of luck again. I love the new zune. I'm kind of weary about buying another one because I can't find any kind of protection cases for it. That blows because now I'm going to have to go back to apple. The ipod has all kinds of cases, which you can find just about anywhere. don't get me wrong the zune is the shh...but I can't keep buying them."

"My husband and I bought our daughter the Zune for Christmas and she loved it!! She went and installed the software Christmas Day and she encountered an error message but simply went to the zune website to download one update (which isn't unusual with a new product!) and then her software finished installing in minutes. She loves the size of the screen and the clear graphics of the zune, I don't know why people say the graphics are bad, you can't beat the graphics they are so clear, not grainy or anything!! The sound loved as well, it was clear and resonant and not like some of the other MP3 players out there. She didn't like or want an IPod but she loves the Zune!! Like I said above the software is easy to use and will sync your music in no time, that's what it does, keeps track of your music and you can even go to the Zune marketplace to download music, videos among other things. We also got her a zune giftcard to try that out. Overall the Zune is very user friendly, the software is simply and fast and is a great buy!! My husband and I were a BIG hit with the Zune for Christmas!! We would recommend this to anyone!!"

"I got this for Christmas and I love the Zune!! This MP3 player is so easy to use I don't care what anyone says, all you do is install the software and it automatically picked up all my music already on my computer and started syncing. I like it so much better than Itunes. Also as long as your computer is up to date, you shouldn't haven't any problems with the software!!
The sound is so clear and the earbuds are the best I've found in a long time. I love the graphics and the 80GB comes with the bigger sized screen (that along with the extra space for not that much more money was the big selling point). The resolution and clarity on the screen is excellent, many of my friends have IPod and the Zune has it beat hands down.
When I went in the store to get accessories they were still buying them like crazy and other that got them for Christmas said they loved them too!! Great buy!! Would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an MP3 player!!"

"I got it and was very happy with the Video Playback, Limewire is a great P2P Sharing site to download Videos and Music. I would say I like this better than the Ipod due to the screen size, Video Quality depending on the format you save the file under and that it has a buitl in FM Tuner for Radio Stations. I have Itunes and Zune software on my computer and have not ran into any problems with Syncing the Zune or IPOD. And found converting the Videos to be compatible with Zune Software is very simple using the Windows Movie Maker on XP or Vista and the Zune Website for Support is great found all my answers on there. I would recommend the Zune over the IPOD, found that when downloading music to the Zune Collections it also will automatically put the Album art for the specific albums once you add the music to your collection. To all the Zunies out there enjoy!!!!!"

"I absolutely love the Zune!! I'm 22 and got the Zune for Christmas from my parents, I'm not much of a fan of the other MP3 players out so I was happy to hear when Microsoft came out with an MP3 player. The sound is incredible and the graphics are so clear on the screen from the album art when listening to songs to pictures you put on there. The earbuds are great too, they are actually comfortable unlike some earbuds in the past and fit down in your ear to get a good sound. I have a huge collection of music already on my computer and for $50 more the 80 GB is the better deal. I had an error message pop up while installing the software on my computer but where I differ from the last person is if you would just think all you have to do is go to zune's website and they have a patch on there for the error message that pops up, you install it and the software finishes installing in seconds NO PROBLEMS!! I had my music downloaded to my Zune that night!!!!! I LOVE this product and would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for an MP3 player!!"

"Maybe I'm just grayhaired and a tech dummy. But if they wanted my money they should provide the product in a sufficiently easy to use form. These people who rave about the product amaze me since the Zune forum is full of people with problems and experiencing a lack of tech and documentation support. It's going back, folks. At least even I was able to use the ipod shuffle for my wife. So no matter ipods failings it at least works. I'm trying to transfer from a CD and from my itunes lists."

"Got this for Xmas. Downloaded software that night on my laptop which is Windows XP home version, SP2. At first after the sofware downloaded when I brought it back up on the computer it just came up with a black screen. Called tech help, we eventually fixed the black screen issue with major adjustments. Then when it stopped synching w/my Zune, I un-attached it to listen to what I downloaded and then when I went to hook it back up to the computer, all of a sudden it said the driver hardware couldn't be found and my Zune couldn't be found. Tech help couldn't fix it and suggested I wait 24 hours and call them back after my computer "rests for awhile"!!!! Which meant they couldn't figure it out. I hired a tech guy & had him come out to see if he could fix the problem and after paying him $90 I still had no Zune connection anymore. I was going to take it back but I decided to try it on an older computer we have (4 years old) that hasn't even had Windows updated in over 2 years. We'll low and behold it finally worked. Don't know exactly what the software's problem is with my newer computer, apparently it has major compatability problems. Maybe it's because I have a Samsung MP3 player software on that machine also??? Go figure. I guess I'll keep the Zune. Also wish the website had movies and tv shows to download. Looks like I'll have to use on of those pay for the year download sites somewhere else. Hope I don't get a virus and I pick a good one!!!!!"
