What's not so great: It died w/ less than an hour of use.
I needed a gigabit wireless router so I picked this up at local Best Buy. Alittle expensive but always have been a Linksys guy so I figured I could not go wrong. I plugged the unit in and did not bother w/ setup as I needed to use wired connections immediately. Less than an hour later my connection dropped so i walked over to the router. None of the LEDs were lit. I tried a soft and hard reset, even leaving it w/ no power overnight. This thing is dead. I checked out these reviews to see if anyone had same problem. While I did not catch anyone w/ identical problems it looks like this thing has a thermal problem as well as connection retention issues. I would have never picked this up if I read the reviews. Do not buy this router; you have been warned!

What's great about it: Gigabit home network
What's not so great: no USB - not a big deal
I'm normally a diehard Netgear guy, decided to try out Cisco Linksys for a change (ON SALE for $79). I've read reviews about this router being very hot. I have not experienced that or any other issues. I manually configured the router because I use the more advanced features of port forwarding and static IPs on my home network.
Setup was fairly easy and straight forward. Gigabit speed is nice.
(last I checked, ddwrt is now compatible)
No complaints. I'd recommend it.

What's great about it: Network Magic software that came with it works good.
What's not so great: No better coverage or speed than the WRT54G that I wanted to replace.
Tried several settings for a week and ultimately this router gave no advantage over the G router that i wanted to replace. I checked the strength signals on my wireless devices and there was no improvement so I returned this router and got my money back.

What's great about it: Installation and set-up
What's not so great: Video streaming at 1080i
The device works as advertised. It is a fast router which we have been using to stream video around the home. Streaming works well at 720p as long as other devices aren't hogging the bandwidth. 1080i, however, really taxes the connection.

What's great about it: nothing
What's not so great: always drops signal, always have to reset it, performance is horrible
I am a expert in computer technology and I went from netger to linksys to give it a try I regret ever getting this thing, always drops Signals even when standing 2 feet from it, the performance is not that great I have my PS3 hooked up to it and thats the only thing that works, but I have the N adapters for my Desktop and the download speed keeps changing from 300Mbps down to 50Mbps back and forth back and forth, I have 2 iphones and 1 ipod touch and it shows me when the router keeps dropping the signal too, I hate this Router, don't Buy it!!!

What's great about it: Sped up my network, eliminated lagging devices
What's not so great: Network Magic software that came with it is a monthly service.
Installing this was easy. I have no clue what the other reviewers complaining about it was all about. By installing this all my devices running on "G" channels speed up noticeably. I have 2 iPhones, a PS3, printer and 2 laptops I use ion this network. They all work better and have farther range compared to the linksys G router I had bought 3 years ago. Gone are the days of getting my butt kicked in Modern Warfare 2 online or the wife yelling at me because she her phone is lagging while I'm downloading a movie. Also gone, neighbors using the device ~there is a button you have to push on the router to allow new devices to use it.
The network magic software that comes with the device is really nice. Allows you to see all the devices and configure settings for each one and report on network usage. Unfortunately, the trial ended and now I get email constantly. I wish they would just include this.

What's great about it: It is a Wireless Router
What's not so great: It did not do what it advertised
I bought this router to add 802.11n wireless capability in my home. Setup was easy and quick, and in no time I had all my wireless devices connected. However this is where the problems began.
First all my existing devices experienced weaker signals. I found that the range of the signal was about half as wide. Of course there is no setting on the router to increase or decrease signal range, so obviously this is a hardware limitation for the router.
Over the next few days I also experienced connections dropping at random. Sometimes it would lose connection to my ISP, and other times wireless signals would just weaken to nothing.
And if that wasn't enough, my N wireless devices could only connect to the G protocol. Even after a few hours on the phone with linksys and microsoft only G would be used. I even tried setting the router to transmit N only and nothing would connect using N, also the status of the router would not show that it was transmitting N.
So to sum up this product did not do what it advertised. I already returned it at setup my old router.

What's great about it: Easy to set up.
What's not so great: requires reset every other day to regain speed
I admit I should've read the reviews on this router first. I was wondering why I kept losing network speed every other day, which requires resetting the router. I'm ready to get rid of it and I've only had it for a week. I would highly advise against purchasing this model, unless of course you enjoy having to reset it every other day.

What's great about it: When I check the speed with my computer it is at 130 MBps vs 54 MBps with my G router.
What's not so great: My wireless gadgets drop from the network a lot. Never had a problem until I got this router. This is a known issue BTW.
I bought the product in hopes that it would speed up my network. It did this in fact, but only when I was able to be connected to it. I previously had a WRT54G router with which I never had to reset and never had a dropped connection. This router (WRT310N) drops my connection all the time. We will be in the middle of a 1.5 hour movie and it will drop 2-3 times during the movie (Netflix on XBox 360). I am returning it and reverting back to my WRT54G. Sad times.....

What's great about it: Very fast with great wireless range.
What's not so great: Has to be re-set every 12 hours or less to retain speed.
This is my second one of these because the first on was defective out of the box with no wireless.
Bestbuy replaced it with a new one which seemed to work fine, great speed and range with wireless and gigabit wired was super fast. By the way, don't use the included software as it just messes things up.
The next morning I noticed that something had changed because my downloads were really slow. Did a speed test plus a download from Adobe and speeds weren't close to what they were before.
Re-set the router by removing power, waited about 30 seconds, plugged power back in tested again and the speed was back..
Same thing that evening, slow download both wireless and wired. called Linksys tech support. The tech said there were no known issues like that and had me do some things that would have nothing to do with the problem.
I looked on the Linksys forums and there are many, many people having the same problem. I guess their techs across the pond haven't been told yet.
Some say the problem is heat and are attaching fans to cool them, others say it is upnp or the spi firewall so who knows what the real problem is.
I would not buy this router until Linksys finds out and corrects the problem.
It's a excellent product if you don't mind re-setting it every 12 hours.

What's great about it: Blew me away with the speed for wireless; gigabit is fantastic
What's not so great: Port forwarding died before I had the router two weeks, returning it to the store today
Router was nice until it started acting up when I fired up PHP & MySQL services behind the firewall.

What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: Runs hot, runs slow, waste of time
Do not buy this router!! I bought one about 4 months ago. 3 weeks back I noticed my internet connection was pretty slow and narrowed the problem down to the router. When I power down the router for a couple minutes and then power up it works great for about 20 minutes. After that it gets slower and slower, eventually down to about dial up speed. I went to a website to test my network speed immediately after power up and scored 26 mbps download and 5.3 mbps upload, pretty good. 20 minutes later I scored 5 mbps download and .032 upload. Tried to run the test again but I gave up because it was taking too long. Google “wrt310n heat problem” and you will find this to be widespread behavior. I completed Linksys RMA’s for 2 routers, the third refurbished router from them is currently in route. When it gets here I plan to put it on the shelf until the next firmware upgrade which, according to tech support is supposed to address the heat problem (yea right). It’s really a paper weight at this point. I have since gone back to my old dependable Linksys WRT54G, out performs the WRT310N any day.

What's great about it: Range, Speed, Setup, network Magic, gaming.
What's not so great: nothing
I got this router 02-08-2010 and got home, plugged in everything (my high speed cable to the intenet section on back of router and power cord to outlet) and then i called my ISP (Internet Service Provider) and told them i got a new router. I needed to call them because they need to appove the router. I was up in 5 min. playing xbox 360(2) , surfing the web on two laptops, and an itouch. I did the speed test and it went from 950kbps to 4800kbps download and 250kbps upload to 1120 kbps. I did not run the CD included in the box. I guess it differs with different ISP's. If you are having problems with this router please call your ISP and let them know before calling linksys which could help you save $10.

What's great about it: It configures like most Linksys routers
What's not so great: UPnP, DMZ, Port Forwarding, etc don't really work correctly
I have been a Linksys fanboy for years (even burning older models with DD-WRT), but this router is junk. Sorry but there isn't any other way to explain it. There are numerous complains about UPnP not working correctly and DMZ and port forwarding can't be used together. When I asked Linksys support the answer I got was "sorry it's a product limitation". If you are try to get two XBox's to work with each having an "Open NAT" for get it.. ain't going to happening. Port Forwarding may or may not work and in general anything that you change and save in the configuration may of not take place with a Save and soft Reboot. They next hard reset may change it again. Stay away from this router, it's too expensive to be this bad.

What's great about it: Easy to setup, sleek design and the price was not bad once I got it price matched!
What's not so great: The data rate is not great.
I first bought a Belkin which which I tested at about 26Mbps downstream. The only reason I returned that is because it didn't play along well with the WiFi adapter in my desktop so I exchanged it for this linksys. The setup was easy and it worked right out of the box. The only problem is that my downstream rate dropped to about 16Mbps. That's a 10Mb drop in download speed!! I'm not to thrilled about that. Although, overall I'm happy with it since it works with all my devices (PS3, laptop, and desktop). The only reason I would not recommend this router is because of the data rate. I'm sure I could have found a better performing router that works with all my devices. Oh well...

What's great about it: NOTHING!
What's not so great: EVERYTHING!
After having this router for 2 weeks now, I can sometimes get a signal on my laptop but not for long. It seems easy to set up by following the disc and then you find that you have to also refer to the pamphlet because the CD doesn't address the part where you HAVE TO connect to your ISP router AND the Lynksys router or else it doesn't work. I did the Network Magic and I can't seem to get it to wirelessly connect to my laptop now unless I use an unsecured network which I developed in order to at least be abe to connect the laptop. As I mentioned, it works sometimes, but not for long.
I've tried everything and I just simply wish that I had never purchased this router!
