What's great about it: Setup and wireless range.

"Very easy to setup. Worked fine out of the box. Range has improved and no dropped network connections since purchase. It replaced a Linksys WRT54G wireless router, which was dropping."

What's great about it: It configures like most Linksys routers
What's not so great: UPnP, DMZ, Port Forwarding, etc don't really work correctly

"I have been a Linksys fanboy for years (even burning older models with DD-WRT), but this router is junk. Sorry but there isn't any other way to explain it. There are numerous complains about UPnP not working correctly and DMZ and port forwarding can't be used together. When I asked Linksys support the answer I got was "sorry it's a product limitation". If you are try to get two XBox's to work with each having an "Open NAT" for get it.. ain't going to happening. Port Forwarding may or may not work and in general anything that you change and save in the configuration may of not take place with a Save and soft Reboot. They next hard reset may change it again. Stay away from this router, it's too expensive to be this bad."

What's great about it: Easy to setup, sleek design and the price was not bad once I got it price matched!
What's not so great: The data rate is not great.

"I first bought a Belkin which which I tested at about 26Mbps downstream. The only reason I returned that is because it didn't play along well with the WiFi adapter in my desktop so I exchanged it for this linksys. The setup was easy and it worked right out of the box. The only problem is that my downstream rate dropped to about 16Mbps. That's a 10Mb drop in download speed!! I'm not to thrilled about that. Although, overall I'm happy with it since it works with all my devices (PS3, laptop, and desktop). The only reason I would not recommend this router is because of the data rate. I'm sure I could have found a better performing router that works with all my devices. Oh well..."

What's great about it: NOTHING!
What's not so great: EVERYTHING!

"After having this router for 2 weeks now, I can sometimes get a signal on my laptop but not for long. It seems easy to set up by following the disc and then you find that you have to also refer to the pamphlet because the CD doesn't address the part where you HAVE TO connect to your ISP router AND the Lynksys router or else it doesn't work. I did the Network Magic and I can't seem to get it to wirelessly connect to my laptop now unless I use an unsecured network which I developed in order to at least be abe to connect the laptop. As I mentioned, it works sometimes, but not for long.
I've tried everything and I just simply wish that I had never purchased this router!

What's great about it: The speed is amazing
What's not so great: Not a single bad side

"I love this router, for the price it can not be beat. My old netgear burned out on me and it really did not have anywhere near the performance this one has. I too was scared at first about the other reviews but after buying it i could not be happier. I play World of Warcraft on a high population server and this thing handles it like a champ. Where i used to lag out or even disconnect, i am just flying by like no one is on the server. After doing that online speed test my download went from 3mb on the netgear to 38mb with this. I would highly recommend this to any of my gaming friends, i mean who really wants to spend $250+ for an over the top gaming router now adays."

What's great about it: It worked, right out of the box
What's not so great: nothing--so far so good

"This router worked right out of the box. I read the reviews and was skeptical about the purchase, but after talking to the people at Best Buy, I took the plunge. (it was on sale for $99.99)

All I did was install the CD, followed the step by step installation wizard, and low and behold it worked.

Haven't tested the range yet, at least outside- We're getting a winter storm up here so the outside test will have to wait a few days.(weeks)

I also like the additional support software "Network Magic" which enabled me to share files and printer from my PC to wireless laptop with ease. I'll definitely purchase the software once the trial membership is up. 24 bucks, can't go wrong.

This is the first time I set up a wireless network, this router made it a breeze.

"After many years of good experience withLinksys products, I had high expectations, none of which were met. This router is slower than the outdated G that I replaced. It requires rebooting at least twice a day, and when two people are using the network at the same time, it crawls. It was a total waste of money, and it's the last Linksys product I will purchase."

What's not so great: Not worth the price

"I have an xbox 360, 2 laptops, and a DVR hooked up to our internet. I started with a cheap Dynex router and it wasn't enough to handle the load.

I upgraded to this router to fix lagging when playing call of duty 2 online. It was better than my last router, but it didn't fix the issue. I still have lag, however it's less often.

I read other reviews of this product (unfortunately after buying it) I recommend getting the DGL-4500. I'm returning this one to trade it out.

What's great about it: The ease of installation and speed are great. No issues since the purchase date. Works well with Mac, Vista and XP.
What's not so great: Does get warmer that previous routers but no issues. Keep it on a hard surface- not carpet.

"I purchased this router to up to upgrade from a Linksys wireless G router with only WEP security. This unit provides WAP2 (WAP-PSK) security along with "N" type protocols for better speed for newer laptops with "N" type wireless capability. It is also completely compatable with older "G" type equipment."

What's great about it: good protection..
What's not so great: awful speeds, so inconsistant

"i bought this router the other day to upgrade from a 4 or 5 year old linksys wireless g that i was really happy with. i thought that by sticking with linksys and upgrading to wireless n would have been a great choice on my part. not so fast my friend! i run a desktop through ethernet, my ps3 through either wireless or ethernet, 2 wireless laptops and a printer hooked up through ethernet. the laptops are rarely on, and same with my printer. i only use my ps3 at night time when im not busy and no one else is on the internet. i cant even play a descent game of modern warfare 2 anymore cuz the signal is so inconsistant through both wireless and ethernet! ive had it for approx. 2 days now and i hate this thing. so whatever you do, do not get it. such inconsistant signal.... im very disapointed :|"

I would strongly recommend against purchasing this router. From a home use standpoint, product does not maintain a reliable wireless high speed connection."

What's great about it: Fast, when it is working
What's not so great: Seems like it's not compatible with Vista

"Bought this router to replace a very good Linksys WRT-54GX (burned out).
Wired router via ethernet connection to Sony desktop PC (running XP) and DSL modem. Software install was fairly easy and was able to set up home network. Connected my HP laptop (running Vista w/ built-in wireless N) but when I moved about 20 feet away, internet connection drops to local connection only. Also connected an old Compac laptop (running XP) w/ Linksys SRX card and was able to connect to internet from upstairs but could not verify "certificates" for my network. Returned unit back to store thinking it was defective and got another one.
After reinstalling 2nd router, still had same problems w/ Vista laptop. Works great up to only 10 feet away from router but drops when I'm further away. Signal fluctuates from poor to good. Only connects to internet when signal is excellent. Vista cannot identify my network if signal is too low (2-4 bars?).
Planning to exchange for D-Link w/ external antennae in hopes this will work like my older Linksys G which has external antennae.

What's great about it: Great security features, port forwarding, good wireless and Giga ports
What's not so great: none

"The Linksys WRT310N wireless router is amazing; it is really nice and does what it says it will do. I have Cox’s high speed internet in San Diego using the new Motorola SB6120 cable modem.

With the Linksys router on Cat 6 hardwire I am averaging 20Mbs download speed and 3Mbs upload speed. There is no speed difference without the router (just hooking up the computer directly to the cable modem) and the speed I am getting is what Cox’s advertizes.

On my netbook and my laptop I also am averaging about 18Mbs upload and 3Mbs download speeds. I have never encountered drops in connection via the wireless connection (in a 1500 sq ft home), it is always connected no drops at all.

One of the nice features I like about Linksys in general over other companies like D-Link and Netgear is that Linksys offers: Port forwarding, and on the wireless security side Linksys offers MAC address filtering and SSID no broadcasting features. These features are very important to me and why I tired the Linksys (though I have been using Linksys BSR41, I think that is the model number) for more than 10 years and I was happy with the older model too.

I highly recommend Linksys in general and this model WRT310N

What's great about it: Small footprint
What's not so great: Can't be setup, software doesn't work, poor tech support

"Well, I'd hoped that Linksys routers had evolved beyond the garbage they were putting out for many years, but unfortunately this router did nothing to change that. As someone that has set up many routers over the years I'd hoped this would be an easy install, but boy, was I wrong!

First I tried the CD setup on my Mac and while I could get the router to complete part of the setup, I wasn't able to get it to connect to the Internet either wired or wirelessly. Tried it with a WinXP laptop and Vista desktop to no avail. Tried all 3 manually use the web-based config, still nothing. Sat on the phone forever and a day with Linksys tech support, whose knowledge base was less than stellar and English even less...no joy there either.

Ended up returning the router to the store and won't buy another Linksys!
