Well worth the money 04/29/2008

What's great about it: Small, sleek, and easy to setup.
What's not so great: None, really

"This is the perfect N band wireless router..

It took me all of 10 minutes to set it up, and get going.

I have a PS3, XBox360, Wii, two Nintendo DS, two laptops, and three PC's (wired) connected to it, and it runs like it's a racehorse.

It's nice knowing you can have a secured, tight network guarding all of your systems.

And just for reference, the installation CD tells you STEP BY STEP how to set this thing up to get it going.. It's really fool proof."

What's great about it: Range is phenomenal with no antannae!

"Linksys has hit a home run with this one. I was skeptical about purchasing a router without any antennae. Where was I going to put my external anntenna with its cute home made parabolic hood? Two things guided me. First off I work from home and the old Linksys, after 6 strong years was crapping out, and the local Best Buy had it in stock and on sale no less! That was a win win. Order online, get the confirmation, and go pick it up. I was back at it within an hour which included the drive time to BB."

What's great about it: looks nice
What's not so great: setup and support

"I bought this router because salesperson recommended it and had a linksys WRT54G which worked well. I had problems setting this one up on DSL and called linksys support. The support person was rude and stated that if I needed any advanced help I would have to pay $10.00 for this support. I told him all I wanted was basic setup, he stated that I should just set the router to DHCP and that was all. It was not how my old llinksys was setup with SBC and I was only able to connect with my 3 wireless computers and hard wired computer for two days. After that all I got was server not found, after a few hours of playing and going back on previous settings I finally got it to work. I strongly do not recommend buying this if you are a novice and support is horrible. Not only that but linksys cost more than other brands. This has not been a pleasant buying experience"

What's great about it: nothing
What's not so great: comes disconnceted,wireless, storage

"I never had some much problems getting wireless to work on a router, I alsway had a d-link. Comes disconnect from interenet, The storage device could not work, spent over a hour on phone with there tech. they couldnt get it to work, didnt know how it worked themselfs. I just told them forget taking back to store. my time is money and they where not paying me to keep me hanging with a product that didnt work right.."

What's not so great: THE COMPUTERS WONT CONNECT WIRELESSLY

"This product is HORRIBLE! I purchased this router to replace my linksys that was fine for 1 year and a half when the wireless signal decided to cut out. I followed the easy setup guide on the CD which runs from that. Tried to set it up with my laptop that has vista, and plugged all the cables correctly, and would just get an error message: 321 telling me that my cables were not plugged in. So I tried the installation with my XP laptop. Got through the installation, but when i went to connect wirelessly to the router, it sat there trying to identify the router certificate. I could NOT even connect wirelessly. DO NOT BUY; Don't give yourself the headache."

What's great about it: The places you can go with it in your house.
What's not so great: I had to call bu 1-800 #t was helped ASAP the 1st time.

"Wonderful product, I have a two story house and the system is up-stairs and I can go out side and anywhere in the house and have strong signal. Comes in handy when you connect your computer to a audio system to play your music for a party outside and still be able to get reception!!!!"

What's not so great: Would not send signal 30 feet.

"Thought it was defective, and returned it to the store for another of the same. It's the product. Went with a wireless Belkin for $20 less and it works like a charm. Great signal!"

"This one is deffinately worth the extra 20 bucks! I can use my laptop or ITouch outside with no problems. I called the number for Linksys to ask a question and they walked me through the whole process in a matter of minutes. Great Company, Great product."

"I just purchased this item yesterday, and I am extremely pleased with its performance. Right out of the box, it was very easy to set up and install. In a matter of 5 minutes, I had it up and running.
Transfer rates are extremely good. I was getting 10 mbps with my old Dell wireless router, and with this unit I now am getting a transfer rate at 54 mbps.
Nice sleek design blend in really well with any decor. Now protruding antennas that do not look good, and the lighted indicators are nice and pleasing to the eyes, I also really like the on and off button located on the uni that allows you to turn off the unit when not in use. Great energy saving idea and a good step toward going green.

If this is your first time setting up a woreless router, you will find that this unit will probally be one of the easiest on the market to set up"

What's not so great: Drops often when connected to multiple computers

"I liked this unit a lot at first. After a few months, though, we noticed more and more random disconnects.
I tried many fixes, but after an internet search, I found that this is a common problem with this unit (160N) and with a similar unit (150N). It apparently gets worse as more computers are added to the network.
We did ok with 2 computers, but when we get 3 or more connected, the random disconnects start. The more computers connected and active, the more frequently all computers are disconnected.

I was very disappointed. Linksys usually makes a very solid router."

"This is a great unit. My signal has improved greatly after installing this router. Great signal thru out the house. Love the screen showing which computers , iphone are connected to the wi-fi. If a signal does disconnect, one quick key stroke and the router reconnects. Couldn't be happier."

What's great about it: Signal is great with no drops when using a vpn
What's not so great: Signal could be a little stronger away from the unit

"My signal away from my prior g router was poor and started to drop signal consisently. Replaced it with this version in a few minutes, and signal is very good.
Coverage/signal strenght could be a little better, but it light years better than my prior one that was only 2 years old."

"this router is awsome! I was almost 100 yards from my house, and my laptop was conected to my LAN!!
and I usually use my laptop in a room far from the router, and the signal strength is aways good or very good.

What's great about it: Excellent coverage; good access to specialized features
What's not so great: Windoze only automatic setup

"I bought this router as the third replacement for a Belkin Pre-N wireless router that died. Belkin, with its wonderful lifetime product support policy, sent me a replacement Wireless-N router, which worked fine, but the signal didn't reach the farthest corners of our house, no matter how I customized the settings. I then tried the NewerTech MAXpower router, mostly because of its Mac support, but the software was buggy, and I returned it. The Linksys WRT160N worked with little more than the default configuration and covered every corner of our three story house with a strong signal. We use WPA2 security, since the signal probably covers our neighbors' houses, too. I used their supplied software on a Windoze machine, and it worked as advertised. But I did all of the custom setup with Firefox on my Mac, and could have done everything that way. All in all, the WRT160N is an excellent product and would be even better if they offered cross-platform support."
