What's great about it: Fully adjustable base was selling point, HDMI in, USB ports on monitor What's not so great: No direct DVI port, but HDMI makes up for it; don't count on built-in audio to be any good
"When looking at monitors at Best Buy, all major manufacturers were pretty comparable. Simlar contrast ratios, response times, etc. etc. But the HP monitor was one of the few with the glossy screen, which I think makes colors seem way deeper and richer and looks way better than the other comparable monitors, which may have had highers specs even. So the HP was first in the "eye test" but also, was one of the only monitors with a fully adjustable stand, to be able to raise and lower, tilt forward and back, and ROTATE 90 degrees, giving you widescreen landscape or portrait by being mounted to a swivel bracket. HDMI in is also nice, and found a use for the USB ports right away. If you are buying for the built-in audio, volume and quality is very limited, but that is the case with any built-in speakers, so don't expect a whole lot. Was not disappointed in any of my expectations though, sweet screen! All necessary cables (VGA, 3.5 mm audio, USB, and HDMI cable) were included, which this day and age is always good to see!"

What's great about it: screen size, picture quality, ease of controls What's not so great: speakers
"Best Buy salesman was good enough to get me the sale price on this even though the sale ended two days ago. Saved me 80 bucks! I think they really improved the stores in Michigan and the sales staff are much better trained and very helpfull. This is a great monitor. I knew it would be better than my old 18 inch CRT, but this is WAY BETTER! Colors are crisp and full. It is a pleasure to view things on this big screen and I see very small details in my pictures now that I could not see on my old monitor because it was not capable of reproducing them due to less pixels. The controls are very easy to use. I dont know why people are complaning about the base, it is well designed, although it does slide a bit too easy on a formica surface. You have to make sure the screen is raised all the way up to clear for rotation. I dont really have much use to rotate it anyway. Mostly usefull for reading long documents so you dont have to scroll so much. The only fault I find is that the speakers (placed in the back) are of average sound quality, but it also directs the sound in the wrong direction so the volume is not what I would like. For those who really want top quality sound you are better off buying a fancy sound system. My computer is adequate for everything I do but this new monitor makes it a pleasure to use again."

What's great about it: Crisp and clean image view, built-in speakers, side-by-side working, large display What's not so great: Speakers have poor sound quality and can be difficult to flip screen
"Overall I completely love this new screen! I got from Best Buy on sale for over $80 off the regular price. I was going to go with a 19" until I saw the great value for price on this whopping 22". It works great for my NEEDS and WANTS. I love the vibrancy and crisp view it has when correctly setup. Because of being extremely careful trying to break my new screen, it took longer than expected to setup, but I do believe the setup time to get it working right was rather short for what it could have been. I bought this mainly to upgrade to have a matching brand-new HP Monitor and HP Computer."

What's great about it: Good size, incredible image, easy customization What's not so great: Difficult to rotate, not a heavy enough base, weak speakers
"I bought this baby just last night, and it's already 10X better than I expected! I'm slowly upgrading to a new computer to replace my dinosaur, and I bought this monitor first.
It works perfectly with my old computer and is simply huge. The recommended resolution is perfect for my needs. And watching DVDs is awesome.
It found it very easy to setup and customize to fit what I wanted, and the built in cord-savers are very conveinient.
But the main feature of 90% rotation is difficult to setup and achieve. The base often gets in the way and isn't heavy enough to keep the whole thing from tipping as you turn it.
Also the speakers are totally weak and directed away from you, not the best feature.
But overall I would say this monitor is great and perfect for viewing documents, gaming, art, and movies. A great buy!"

What's great about it: Incredible picture quality, very bright and vivid What's not so great: pixel lifetime
"I absolutely love this monitor. It is literally gorgeous to look at let alone use for your pc monitor. The only problem is the 2 days after my 1 year warranty was up, i had to full lines of pixels go out. I still can use it, it just annoys when using the monitor. All in all, I highly suggest this as the monitor you should buy."

What's great about it: Image quality, color, design, build quality What's not so great: One malfunctioning green sub pixel, first w2207h had one too
"This monitor has excellent color and contrast for a TN panel. It rivals CRT's in picture quality and the large screen size is awesome. Movies come to life in widescreen and editing photos and videos is actually a joy now. A shame that my first w2207h came with a dead green sub pixel, part of the red, green and blue parts that make a whole pixel, and my second one has an issue as well. The bright green sub pixel is almost right in the middle of the screen and is very annoying. Despite that though this is a fantastic monitor and one I highly recommend. It's popular for a reason!"

What's great about it: So many, read below. What's not so great: Requires more space than you think, pedestal not sufficiently weighted, glossy screen causes glare
"I recently purchased an HP w2207 wide-screen flat panel monitor as a little gift to myself. I have to say, if not for some relatively minor flaws, this monitor would be a perfect 10. Screen: The screen is big and bright and beautiful. The recommended resolution for my graphics card is 1680 x 1050 @ 60Hz, which is plenty high enough from my usage. This is the first monitor I’ve ever owned where I’ve actually had to lower the brightness and contrast settings out of the box. Most often, I’d have to boost both these parameters to maximum settings...but not here. I have both brightness and contrast set around 75 and it’s still brilliant with ambient daylight coming through the windows! One of my biggest peeves for all LCDs were their handling of text. Often LCD screens can’t match their CRT counterparts when it comes to text. They often show artifacts and seem fuzzy when compared to a CRT. This monitor shows text as crisp as any CRT I’ve seen...which weighed heavily in my decision to buy. Software: The monitor’s software has a great wizard that walks you through the initial adjustments for color, aspect ratio, resolution, contrast, etc. Then, it prompts you to save those settings as a profile, which you can then set as your default. In reading reviews prior to my purchase, I'd only read bad things about the software. After a month, I've yet to experience anything negative. Controls: The monitor’s menu controls are intuitive and easy to use. They offer all manner of adjustment, including: Switch Video Input, Brightness, Contrast, Image Control..., Color..., Quick View... (with presets for Gaming, Photos, Text, Movie, and Custom), Language..., Power Management, and Information. All items with “...” following them have numerous submenu control items, which I won’t get into here. Positioning: This monitor comes with one of the most versatile pedestals of any I’ve seen. The screen can be raised or lowered a total of 3.5” and can tilt backwards almost 45 degrees. USB ports. The monitor comes with 2 usb 2.0 compatible ports that you connect to via a supplied cable. It essentially turns one of your computer's usb ports into 2. The feature, so far, seems to work just fine. And beats having to reach around back of the machine. Cable management. The monitor also has 2 brackets on the back of the pedestal, to control the monitor's power cable, video cable, and usb cable. There is room for one or two more which I've made use of. Speakers built in. Most folks won't ever use them, but for those that would, they're built in and the monitor comes with an audio cable to hook to your computer's sound card. The twist! This monitor can be viewed as widescreen OR it can be swiveled to view documents vertically on the fly! You simply rotate the screen 90 degrees and the image on the screen is automatically rotated and resized to fit. It is fantastic for viewing websites and minimizes the amount of scrolling you have to do. It’s also fantastic for viewing documents. As mentioned above, I have a few minor issues with the monitor. First, you really need a lot of space in which to swivel the monitor. I had to raise a shelf in my computer armoire in order to be able to use this feature. In order to swivel, you have to raise the monitor up to its top height, tilt it back slightly, then swivel it. Figure on at least 24" of clearance...slightly less if you tilt it farther backwards first. Second, the pedestal tends to rock backward when swiveling the monitor, as it's not weighted enough. I've solved the issue by using some "fun tack" (you can also use 2-way tape), to keep it from rocking. It works like a charm. Third, cable management...while it's a nice feature, there's only so much slack that can be taken up if you plan to use the swivel feature at all. Fourth, the screen has sort of a glossy coating, which, while it makes the output look great, it also contributes to screen glare. Most flat screens have very little glare, or light reflection at all, but this one does. Using it with a light source behind you, especially daylight, could cause you some eye discomfort. I've owned this monitor for 4 months now and glare hasn't bothered me at all. On the whole, I find this monitor to be a really great buy, but don't pay over $300 for it."

What's great about it: Size, Picture, Rotates, moves up and down What's not so great: Sound
"This monitor is great for the desktop publishing and e-newsletters I write. The graphics come alive, the screen is beautiful and my work is easy and a pleasure. We watch movies and TV shows from netflix, and they're great. We bought some $10 speakers, so I don't care about whether the sound is good. It's great for someone who does any creative work on the computer. Love it!"

What's great about it: Resolution, color and brightness adjustments, swivel screen What's not so great: Would have wanted 24 inch, but it wasn't available at the time
"I returned two Samsungs, and two HD TV's with computer inputs. On all, the resolution was terrible, colors awful, aad worst of all, the intensity of brightness of the screen was burning out my eyes instantly. And, I could not adjust this intensity. With this monitor, I have been able to make all adjustments to fit my needs. The resolution stays at max 1680 x 1050, perfect for gaming or just searching the internet. I have a HP processor, don't know if that makes a difference. This is THE BEST monitor on the market right now."

What's great about it: Image - Easy Set Up - Price What's not so great: Built In Speakers
"I got this monitor on sale for $299 at Best Buy and you can't beat it. I didn't realize when I was looking for a new monitor that the reason most widescreen monitors seem to be cheap now is because they have no functionality as far as tilt and pivot. You can't move them, which I believe is essential to optimum viewing. This monitor not only pivots back and forth, it's movable diagonally and you can even turn it completely on it's axis to be veritcal instead of horizontal. I haven't seen another monitor that does that. Having moved from a HP 15" flat screen to this HP 22" widescreen, it's like night and day. The only flaw is extremely inadequate built in speakers. They just don't cut it. But when you can go get some speakers for $10, that really isn't a problem."

What's great about it: Great build quality, HDMI, Cool Landscape or Portrait mode! What's not so great: None at all
"Upgraded from twin 17 inch CRTs and wanted a single monitor with enough real estate to run art programs with the pallettes out of the way to the side. This does the trick and then some! Some complain of glare due to the gloss screen. I do not have this issue due to working in an area with lower light.
It also has decent adjustment options for height and tilt.
A+ to HP for this one."

What's great about it: Rotate ability, Great picture, HDMI !!!!! What's not so great: Integrated speakers not so great
"IF YOU WANT A FANTASTIC MONITOR AND YOU USE EXCEL AT ALL YOU WANT THIS MONITOR!!!! The ablity to change your view on the monitor by simply rotating the screen is so great. I am working faster on certain spreadsheets and web pages! Buy this one!! If you go to the store to see the rotate feature keep in mind that the stores don't install the software that comes with the monitor to make it work, but it works great. I have used it with all of the office suite, i-tunes, and media player!! The sound is OK at best, but I am adding a better sound system to mine."
