What's great about it: Affordable, Final Cut Pro Editing Power in a small package
What's not so great: Less effects than I would have liked

"Having used both this product and Apple's Final Cut Pro software, both are very amazing. However, this choice was perfect, as I am mainly an aspiring graphic design who just wants motion and video to be integrated into that workflow. This contains all the video editing power that one could possibly need. One of my favorite features is that when using the new AVCHD cameras, it displays all the clips in a list. From there, you just choose the clips you want to load in, and you're set. What is also great is that I can even load in my graphic arts material and manipulate those as well if I want any cool graphics. You can even perform green screen style compositing if you wish!

However, this may not be for those who are hardcore VFX artists. For that, I would recommend doing as I did and buying a piece of software specifically for that purpose. I also want to mention that this software will only export to tape or Quicktime files, not straight to DVD with any menus. Otherwise, this program fit my video editing needs far more adequately than I could have imagined."

What's great about it: Editing features not already in your Mac
What's not so great: Good luck learning to use them

"Using a Mac is supposed to be instinctive. Once you get this monster installed, the instinctive part ends.
Final Cut Express provides a lot of features not found in Leopard and Quick Time Pro, but they're too difficult to learn, and come at too high a price. Also, for the price you pay, there are odds and ends left out that shouldn't have been left out.
A lot of people obviously love this package, but perhaps because I also use Windows NLEs that are both more affordable and easier to use, I am not one of them."

What's great about it: It works well with any new mac.
What's not so great: None

"It just works. Nothing is bad about it. I can edit loads of outstanding movies with this single software. It works perfect. LiveType in it is the best. You should definitely get this Final Cut Express."
