I could not get the unit to broadcast in N mode only G. I returned it to a store 45 miles away and upgraded to a Netgear 600 which is working fine.
What's great about it: Easy exchange
What's not so great: Driving 45 miles to store, after paying shipping fees only to go to a store and purchase another type unit

I was disappointed in the range, the cost, and the garishness of the many flashing lights. The performance seems to be no better than my 1st generation dlink router that cost me half as much. It was easy to install.
What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: Visually obtrusive

The set up and use of this router was easy...no worries. That blue light however would drive any person insane. Why would they do that? that light is bright enough, that I could unplug my nightlight in the kitchen! Well, enough of that. I just want you to know that this is a good router with a built in flashing blue night light...

I bought this router when i bought my laptop about a year ago. It was pretty easy to set up and it worked fine for the first 6 or 7 months, but lately it has been getting more and more finicky about keeping a connection. Yesterday it just stopped working and It wont even connect to the internet anymore. Thankfully i kept my old linksys and was able to connect it and it started right up. This is the second time this has happened to me with a non-linksys router and it will be the last.
What's great about it: You can upgrade in 6 to 7 months
What's not so great: You have to upgrade in 6 to 7 months......

This is an excellent router for the money. The wireless speed is almost instantaneous on my newest laptops. Just remember, you need the fast WiFi receivers on the laptops or desktops too or your speed will suffer. Also, to realize the fastest connection speed, you will benefit by using the 64 bit IE browser if your PC has the 64 bit operating system installed.
What's great about it: Cost and postential speed boost.
What's not so great: Additional hardware is need on the WiFi connected PCs to obtain the maximum speed boost.

Fairly easy to setup.. I am new to this but got a little help from a son with wireless router. Got the WII and 1 computer working just fine so far. I hope it works out in my workshop less than 150 feet away..
Cons; I need to reread the users guide more than once and then again in 3 months..

After tweaking with the settings I was able to get the router connections stabilized to my PCs and Macs. I gave up on the wireless connection to my Blu-Ra player and ran an ethernet cable directly from the router to it. Now it maintains a stable connection during streaming of Netflix films. I still have not gotten the high end channels to connect to my Mac, which has a newer airport card and OS.
Would I buy it again? If not for the great sale price, I doubt it.
What's great about it: Once its configured properly its stable.
What's not so great: Poor documentation and help features in the router setup.

This router worked just fine for 100 days and suddenly stopped recognizing the internet. When we tried to troubleshot the problem and called Netgear they told us they would be happy to help us, but it was now out of warranty and we could pay for their support.
The documentation that came with it was minimal at best. The manual that is on the web is rudimentary and is not helpful at all beyond the very basics.
Needless to say, I'm now looking for a new router.
My recommendation on this product and Netgear items are to shop anything else if at all possible.
What's great about it: Nice case
What's not so great: Company support was horrible, documentation is useless.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I purchased this router primarily because I didn't want to drop $190 on the Apple Airport Extreme that boasts similar functionality. Why spend another $110 for something with the same feature set?
That question was answered about 5 minutes after I got home. The first thing that strikes you is how much lighter the Netgear router is than the Apple router. It feels plastic-y, and cheaply made, and probably for a reason. The flashing UFO-style LED lights on the top did nothing to give me confidence that this is a serious router and not a Simon Says game on speed.
Setup wasn't too difficult, but getting the "right" settings was a pain, and I never succeeded in this. No matter how much I messed with the settings, researched online, etc, I was never able to get this router to work "right." Before the Netgear, I owned an older Airport Extreme and it was working perfectly for years before it died. I never had connection issues, timeouts, etc. With the Netgear, I can't watch Netflix for more than 15-20 minutes without the connection dropping. Online research yielded a lot of things to try, but none worked.
I returned the Netgear last night, and upgraded to the Airport Extreme Simultaneous Dual-band and was up and running in 10 minutes and haven't had a single problem since.
Do yourself a favor and don't buy this router. Spend the extra money to get a router that's sleek, well designed, a quality product, but most importantly a router that just works.
What's great about it: Connections are labeled with fun shapes
What's not so great: Connection drops, complicated setup
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

I have owned the Netgear WNDR3300 for over 3 months and have had no issues, which is the best compliment I can provide. It has great range for my house, providing a strong signal to opposite corners (including a lower level) from where it is located. It was easy to set up and has been the best wireless router I have used to date.
What's great about it: Easy to set up and no issues to date
What's not so great: The glowing neon blue light...which you can't turn off.

I was looking to upgrade my existing router/DSL modem and found the choices were limited. I settled on the companion DGND3300 which is the same as this router except it has a built in DSL modem. Both were easy to set up as stand alone routers and worked straight out of the box without a hitch. The only issue was getting a strong enough signal downstairs to the first floor. The solution was getting this router to use as a wireless repeater. I got this one from BB (on sale for $69) for about $5 more than a new USB dual band adapter and the signal is great. There was another poster for the DGND3300 that had trouble setting these up, but not sure why. Network is running like a champ although you do need to go to the NetGear website to get instructions on how to use the wireless repeater function.
What's great about it: Easy setup.
What's not so great: No instructions in package to set up wireless repeater function.

I purchased this item right after I had set up new internet service. I was worried that I would have a hard time setting it up but it was very easy to install and works exactly how I wanted it to. I'm not very tech savvy but my internet is fast and my boyfriend plays on Xbox live and he has a great connection and never slows down my laptop.

What's not so great: The light is very bright

I originally bought a Dlink router, which caused my internet signal to to lag once the wireless printer was added to the network. The signal strength was sporadic. I was a little surprised since I had good success with DLink in the past. Once I purchased the Netgear router everything was up and running smooth. The internet connection as quick and responsive as it was when I plugged in a network cable. I have two laptops and a desktop and I got on the internet on them at the same time and it worked perfectly. I would recommend this router to anyone who has a little tech ability because it is well worth it.
What's great about it: Fairly easy to setup
What's not so great: Nothing Yet

I was looking for more security with greater range. What I got is security with a little less range and an OBNOXIOUS light show. This is not the LEDs on the front like any other router. This is a 2 inch blue circle with intense blue LEDs flashing like a cop car. It illuminates the room at night. You cant look directly at the light. I have to turn the router off if anybody spends the night in the same room.
What's great about it: nothing great just OK
What's not so great: set up in plan english would be nice. Blue LED must go!!!

In my household, there are 4 roommates. Each of us has our own Xbox, laptop & smartphone w/ wifi capability. We were having trouble with wireless connections for our laptops & wired connections with the Xbox's (primarily NAT types). We were originally using a Linksys WRT160N V2 that was not cutting it. I then tried out a Linksys E3000, which was a little better, but still not doing the job. Despite almost everyone in the house having a dislike for Netgear, I decided to go get the Netgear WNDR3300 & hooked it up.
It took about 10 minutes to install and immediately everything started working. All Xbox's had open NAT's & the router was actually doing it's job. It's been about 2 weeks and we are not experiencing any issues anymore.
What's great about it: Easy set-up, can handle what's thrown at it, cheaper than a Linksys
What's not so great: So far... Nothing
