What's great about it: not much IMO
like quite a few others on here, mine was DOA right out of the box. plugged it in and nothing lit up. ran the install disc, it looked all over for the adapter and never found it. i took this back

What's great about it: Small size
What's not so great: Not easy to install, update or use.
This adapter leaves much to be desired. I bought it to attach to one of my LED TVs that does not have WiFi built in and it would not work. Tried on my Mac laptop and it would not work. Worked only on my son's Dell laptop and the performance was terrible! Don't recommend to anyone!

What's great about it: It allows for good dual band wireless N throughout my home
What's not so great: It is pretty large amd the first one I purchased was DOA
Other than the fact that the first one I purchased was dead on arrival and would not even power up. It is a good product. It does what is says it does and it does that well. Other than its large size and flimsy craftsmanship, it is good for the money.

What's great about it: Plugs in and I'm there
What's not so great: First unit didn't work - replacment works as expected
My first unit failed to work but Best Buy made it easy for me to get a replacement that worked well. Interestingly, the CD included for the plug and play recovered my unit (internally) so I didn't have to use the plug in. I won't leave home without the unit now. My computer is old and cantankerous (just like its owner) so it's nice to have reliability when I need it most on this old box of circuits.

What's great about it: Easy set-up
What's not so great: Can't complain
I've had my desktop now for three years and finally got tired of looking at my ugly, grey, Ethernet cable running through my entire house, so I decided to look for a wireless USB adapter. I couldn't have asked for a better one. It was between Netgear and Cisco, but a few friends of mine persuaded me to go with Netgear - and I couldn't be happier! Set-up literally took less than three minutes and the connection is incredible (almost seems faster than when I was wired up, believe it or not), and no interference whatsoever! Great product, worth the money, fast set-up - what are you waiting for?! :D

What's great about it: Connects with any internet provider! ,Price, comes with a usb cord,
Comes with a CD for easy installation, USB extension so that the USB isn't stuck behind a computer tower.
Best part is that it connected with my Comcast router. Sweeeeet.

The modem is upstairs on the opposite site of the house and this picks up the signal w/o any problems what so ever.

What's great about it: Secured wireless internet & speed

Installing adapter to my desktop was simple and setting up my profile and security for the wireless internet was easy. The speed is sufficient enough for my main use which is surfing the net on my computer and streaming High Def (1080p) movies on my PS3. I have no complaints as of yet.

What's great about it: Easy set up, Decent price, Great for streaming media
What's not so great: needs a little tweeking for best performance if trying to use the dual band feature
Installation is quick and easy just remember to install the smart wizard software that comes with it BEFORE plugging in adapter this will save many headaches as windows native drivers do not work correctly also this is a simultaneous dual band so make sure you have a simultaneous dual band router as well or you will only be able to use one band at a time also make sure you're router is set to run both by default my netgear router is set for only 2.4ghz at up to 270Mbps so if you want to use both at the same time you have to set it for 270@5ghz and 54Mbps@2.4ghz in the wireless settings, most laptops,smartphones, printers, tv's, dvd players with built in wi-fi only run on 2.4ghz so once you understand how dual band works- 2.4ghz gives better range but less bandwidth with more interference and 5ghz gives shorter range but more bandwidth with less interference then its a lot easier to get things working correctly. Example: I have a 30Mbps internet connection and only run my tv and dish dvr on the 5ghz while everything else runs on 2.4ghz with my tv or dvr on 2.4ghz it streams movies around 11 Mbps where as on 5ghz they stream at 27 Mbps, so basically out of the box default 2.4ghz settings should get everyone connected but may not give best performance depending on what you are using it with. Hope this helps people out

Net gear should be ashamed to offer such a unreliable product. I, like you reading this overlooked the bad reviews knowing that not all people are happy with an item for some reason or another. Please believe ALL of them! It installed rather pain free. That is all the good news I can say about it. It continues to drop out and upon starting my computer, it has to scan all networks and then it takes approx. 2-3 min to connect....if it does at all. I just don't want any of you to purchase this and find out the hard way and waste your hard earned money. Please consider another brand!

What's not so great: Unit is hardwired to connect automaticly, that should be a control subject.
Connection is quick and automatic, just check to make sure you are always on a trusted site. Never assume computer connections are always safe. I use this on my major system, but I have redundant security systems in effect checking everything.

This was a piece of garbage it was inconsistent with terrible install nightmare. Only thing that saves the company was the great tech support guy. He wasnt able to fix the garbage product but he tried.

My old Netgear N300 Wireless PCI card adapter had gone bad. So, I tried this N600 USB adapter. The results were not good.
It took AT LEAST 60 seconds after booting, every time, for the N600 USB adapter to finally synch with my Netgear router. This did not change over three days or so of fiddling with it.
Once the adapter finally synched with my router, performance was so bad that I thought my router had gone bad. Internet pages frequently timed out. When I logged in to my router to look through the settings, my router pages wouldn't even load. As a side note, my PC is only ten feet from my router. The signal at the PC is very strong.
When I used my laptop, using its native, internal wireless adapter to access the router and internet, everything was zippy. The router was fine.
Was my PC the culprit? No. Prior to installing the N600 drivers and USB adapter on my PC, I had freshly re-Ghosted (reinstalled a Norton Ghost hard drive image) to a pristine image and did all the updates. I removed my old Netgear N300 Wireless PCI adapter and drivers. Then I put in the N600 drivers and USB adapter.
Once I realized that the router was working as it should, I went back to Best Buy and got another Netgear N300 Wireless PCI card. I re-Ghosted again. I again uninstalled the N300 drivers that had come back with the Ghost image, installed fresh N300 drivers, and put the new PCI card in. Everything has been perfect since. My N300 Wireless PCI card logs into the router immediately on bootup. The internet is consistently snappy. The problem had been the Netgear N600 USB adapter.
Unfortunately, I tossed out this little cap that comes with the USB adapter, so I can't take the thing back. I'm out 55 dollars and many hours of frustration.
