The Greatest Compact Camcorder

What's great about it: Everything
What's not so great: The still shots.
"I received my Everio for my birthday last August and I have been able to video across America in a big rig, 48 states to be exact. I've used it to capture the smallest of animals on the side of the road to the deers standing in the fields as we roll down the highway. I've had other movie cameras which have all been great, but this has been the best! The built in hard drive makes the difference. The still shots are OK, but I didn't choose this camcorder for the still shots capabilities."

What's great about it: Video quality and effects
What's not so great: Confusing at first. Directions are hard to follow. Quality of pictures not as good..
"I LOVE this camcorder! It is worth the money and is great for keeping special memories with you. :] When you first get the camera, it will seem confusing about h0w to put your videos and pictures on the internet and also hooking it up to your television, but it's not all that hard once you've got the hang of it. The picture quality isn't the best. If you barely shake or move the camcorder while your about to take the picture, it can end up blurry. However, the picture quality on the camera was expected. Overall, I love this camcorder inside and out. Has a nice sleek design to it that won't get scratched up and is capable of holding tons of video. I know that I will have this baby for a long time to come!"

What's great about it: Easy to use, great price
"After shopping around for camcorders I decided on this one. Easy to use, fits perfectly in the palm of your hand and has all the features you would want in a camcorder plus it lets you save pictures and videos in separate places (hard drive or mini SD card). It is also not bulky and comfortable to carry around."

What's great about it: very light no need of carrying tapes
What's not so great: make sure you bring extra memory sticks on a long vacation
"bought the camcorder before we went to Bahamas on Norwegian cruise march 2008 and this is really a wonderful camcorder the images are really clear on a cloudy days in the carebean and even inside the ship with low lightings. you can reord up to seven hours then transfer it to your memory sticks at night delete evrything from the hard drive and you are ready the next day"

Don't buy if you have only a mac

What's great about it: Great video...
What's not so great: Files are viewable on PCs only
"I bought this video camera because I was tired of logging tapes. Unfortunately I didn't realize that if I wanted to view my videos on my macbook pro, it was almost impossible. You have to download a bunch of software and hope that it works. Luckily we also have a PC. If you have a mac... Keep on looking for a camera that you can use with imovie."

What's great about it: small, light, easy to use, nice video quality, camera "not bad"
What's not so great: the camera is not great<--that's it
"I bought this camera after my sony HI 8 went out. I've had it for about a month know and used it for my sons birthday and other little things to see how it does, There's several different video options to choose from like ultra fine down to economy for internet videos. This is the 60 gig model which in ultra fine mode you can record 14 1/2 hours of video and this is a hybrid meaning it has a memory card for pictures to be put on when there taken or if you run out of space you can put video on the card as well, which not all camcorders are able to do. The camera is not bad, I still use a 35mm camera and i think the image might be better on the camcorder than my camera. You would probably need to take the card to a photo place to have the picture's developed. overall this camcorder has been everything I had expected."

Not Bad

What's great about it: Very compact. I like the laser scroll function. Takes decent quality video.
What's not so great: The still pictures seem very poor quality for some reason? It gets blurry if you even BARELY move when taking a photo.
"This is a nice camera, but I'm having trouble understanding why the still photos are so blurry and poor in quality? Can someone help me with this?"
