I bought this unit for my wife to use and I now have the old Garmin 250. She loves the way this one actually speaks the street names for her. The other one did not. I have four Garmin GPS units in my family now, and they are all a wonderful addition to our trips. I would highly recommend this product and Best Buy was the best price I could find.
What's great about it: Speaks the street names
What's not so great: none

I have used the Garmin during my vacations. It was extremely useful getting around my vacation spots. The larger screen is a nice feature.
What's great about it: Larger screen, several destination points can be added
What's not so great: takes a while to "recalculate"

we bought this product because it talks. some of the wording is not always clear but we got used to the phrasing. we especially like the maps that show where you are going. i would definitely recommend driving with another person while getting used to the devise. i did not read all the directions but still was able to use it.
What's great about it: talks to you
What's not so great: need to play with it to find all the features

I bought this product to make trips out of town, definetely good product the only bad thing about it is the touchscreen is not very sensitive, so if you have big fingers, it will be frustrating to use it, other than that if you like to travel with good directions it´s a great product.
What's great about it: Excellent directions.
What's not so great: Touchscreen keyboard not practical

I've used this product almost everytime I've driven since getting it. I usually turn the sound off since it is so annoying, or at least on low, but it is handy to have to device read the street names out loud during trips to places that I am not familiar with. My one gripe is that it doesn't seem to list and Dunkin Donuts when you search for food.
What's great about it: The price couldn't be beat and it is perfect for a city driver like myself.
What's not so great: Had difficulty getting it to remain affixed to my dash at first. The sticky part didn't stick well.
I would recommend this to a friend!

I bought this model because of a good experience with an older Garmin. Big mistake.
This Garmin provides lots of features that have nothing to do with GPS, like a photo viewer, an MP3 player, a foreign currency converter (if it comes only with US and Canada maps, why currency converter?)
They eliminated several useful GPS features, like blocking a street from use ( under construction, full of potholes, always backed up with traffic, map is wrong, etc.)
But the worst problem is the processor speed. It's too slow to track your position accurately. If you use the 3D map display and the voice-announce street names, you will drive 100 yards or more past your intersection before the display shows it and the voice tells you to turn!
The detour function has also been downgraded. In older models your could specify the distance of the route you wished to avoid, on this model, it tells you turn off the route at the next opportunity, then automatically tells you to get back on the same route.
This Garmin has been a very poor performer, I hope newer models are better.
But, you can customize the little directional arrow icon to look like a sedan or a van.
yippee
What's great about it: Colorful Screen Display
What's not so great: Processor is too slow

This unit broke after 13 months of use. I will never buy another garmin. only bought it cause of the screen size, but I will have to stay with tom tom
What's great about it: It has a nice size screen
What's not so great: it is very weak, and prone to break easily, and the updates are $100

I don`t mind driving in heavy traffic as long as I have a heads up which lane to be in when I have to exit. The Garmin I bought was great on giving me that info. Also it gave turn directions on unformilliar streets that was accurate.
What's great about it: It downloaded quickly and was easy to use
What's not so great: The woman`s voice sounded like a FOCKER, friend of the court, bad memories

i had a older garmin that got lost, i liked it better. it felt like it was built better and the lady had a better voice. this lady reminds me of a tomtom or something but i guess ill live with it. the charger wouldnt work in the first car that i used it in, wouldnt fit in the plug dont know why, as long as it works in my work truck ill be happy since that is what i bought it for mostly. besides all that it works good and gets you where you want to go with a little more features then that cheapest garmin. its a good buy
What's great about it: easy to use, cheap
What's not so great: the lady's voice

This is my second Nuvi 260W, because I love the first one that we bought and use in the family car. The sale was too good for me to pass up. We have used the 260 on road trips and around town and are very satisfied with the maps, ablity to zoom in and out of an area, the clarity of the voice turn-by-turn directions, and the ability for the unit to adapt to route changes. Sometimes it seems like the unit gets stubborn and does not like our route change preference, but that is inherent in the system and not really a bad thing.
I have been using the first 260W for over a year now, and am very satisfied with the product and expect this unit to perform the same.
What's great about it: Easy to read maps, advance turn notification, capabilities of changing route
What's not so great: no bad experiences yet
I would recommend this to a friend!

This was a good buy, at about $150. Nice sized screen, easy to set up and use. A continuing bug is that it can't get a satellite lock indoors, so to program in a Favorites or map out a trip is difficult because it can't locate a satellite to get started. Once you're outside, it connects in a second.
I have a Mac and a PC and Garmin offers some free software upgrades, but I have not been able to load them via the Mac. Garmin offers Mac support, but it is not easy to obtain.
What's great about it: Nice size screen, easy to read graphics
What's not so great: Existing but poor Macintosh software support; tough to set up indoors

I have used this for a little over a year. Sure it gets you to places faster than looking at a map but there are some obvious concerns. I have had times where it can take 15 minutes for it to find a signal after turning it on. Once it is turned on, it's fine. It gets completely confused if you are in a tunnel because it can't tell if your on the surface or below ground. It has a hard time keeping a signal straight in the city. Overall, it's ok but there has to be something much better out there for the same price point.
Bob
What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: takes forever to lock into a signal

I purchased my first GPS about a year ago. After playing with various brands in the store I concluded that Garmin had the most user-friendly menus and visual display. I haven't been dissappointed yet. With a few seconds of button touches I am on my way. I recently moved to a new state and drive a lot for work and I never leave home without it. In fact, I used it on my cross country road trip when we moved to our new state. Just in case it lost reception along the way we brought tons of maps and backup directions -- we never needed a single one. As we got closer (still hundreds of miles away), we could tell out family within minutes of when we would be arriving. Garmin has treated us well, and this 260w has been very good to have -- I trust it so much that I bought another one for my mother. I would recommend it to anyone.
What's great about it: Ease of Use, Good Price, Durable
What's not so great: The need to update maps annually
I would recommend this to a friend!

This is our first GPS system, and Garmin was recommended by our granddaughter who went from coast to coast by herself with her Garmin GPS, without getting lost. The system is easy to use, and so far has been very accurate. If you make a wrong turn, it quickly recalulates to get you back on track, or on to a new route to reach your destination. It only has 500 points of interest, a disadvantage. It is perfect for us when adventure into the big city for doctor's visits, or areas that are not familiar to us.
What's great about it: Easy to set up and use for beginners, especially senior citizens.
What's not so great: Needs more points of interest

Simple and easy to use. Takes about 15 min to set up and about 1 min to load when car is started. Menu's are easy enough to navigate and it's very simple to set favorite destinations. I'm in the military and it's a must have your first year at a new base. I really dislike the fact that Garmin in their infinite wisdom chooses to charge you for a map update yearly; and it's $70 to boot! I've spoken with other owners and they said to update tri-annually. Garmin did come out with a lifetime map update for $120.
What's great about it: Touch Screen, Easy to Read, SD Memory Slot
What's not so great: Yearly cost for maps
I would recommend this to a friend!
