What's great about it: Easy to read maps, advance turn notification, capabilities of changing route
What's not so great: no bad experiences yet
"This is my second Nuvi 260W, because I love the first one that we bought and use in the family car. The sale was too good for me to pass up. We have used the 260 on road trips and around town and are very satisfied with the maps, ablity to zoom in and out of an area, the clarity of the voice turn-by-turn directions, and the ability for the unit to adapt to route changes. Sometimes it seems like the unit gets stubborn and does not like our route change preference, but that is inherent in the system and not really a bad thing.
I have been using the first 260W for over a year now, and am very satisfied with the product and expect this unit to perform the same."

Good buy for the money

What's great about it: Nice size screen, easy to read graphics
What's not so great: Existing but poor Macintosh software support; tough to set up indoors
"This was a good buy, at about $150. Nice sized screen, easy to set up and use. A continuing bug is that it can't get a satellite lock indoors, so to program in a Favorites or map out a trip is difficult because it can't locate a satellite to get started. Once you're outside, it connects in a second.
I have a Mac and a PC and Garmin offers some free software upgrades, but I have not been able to load them via the Mac. Garmin offers Mac support, but it is not easy to obtain."

What's great about it: easy to use
What's not so great: takes forever to lock into a signal
"I have used this for a little over a year. Sure it gets you to places faster than looking at a map but there are some obvious concerns. I have had times where it can take 15 minutes for it to find a signal after turning it on. Once it is turned on, it's fine. It gets completely confused if you are in a tunnel because it can't tell if your on the surface or below ground. It has a hard time keeping a signal straight in the city. Overall, it's ok but there has to be something much better out there for the same price point.

What's great about it: Ease of Use, Good Price, Durable
What's not so great: The need to update maps annually
"I purchased my first GPS about a year ago. After playing with various brands in the store I concluded that Garmin had the most user-friendly menus and visual display. I haven't been dissappointed yet. With a few seconds of button touches I am on my way. I recently moved to a new state and drive a lot for work and I never leave home without it. In fact, I used it on my cross country road trip when we moved to our new state. Just in case it lost reception along the way we brought tons of maps and backup directions -- we never needed a single one. As we got closer (still hundreds of miles away), we could tell out family within minutes of when we would be arriving. Garmin has treated us well, and this 260w has been very good to have -- I trust it so much that I bought another one for my mother. I would recommend it to anyone."

Good GPS For Beginners

What's great about it: Easy to set up and use for beginners, especially senior citizens.
What's not so great: Needs more points of interest
"This is our first GPS system, and Garmin was recommended by our granddaughter who went from coast to coast by herself with her Garmin GPS, without getting lost. The system is easy to use, and so far has been very accurate. If you make a wrong turn, it quickly recalulates to get you back on track, or on to a new route to reach your destination. It only has 500 points of interest, a disadvantage. It is perfect for us when adventure into the big city for doctor's visits, or areas that are not familiar to us."

Great Product for the Price

What's great about it: Touch Screen, Easy to Read, SD Memory Slot
What's not so great: Yearly cost for maps
"Simple and easy to use. Takes about 15 min to set up and about 1 min to load when car is started. Menu's are easy enough to navigate and it's very simple to set favorite destinations. I'm in the military and it's a must have your first year at a new base. I really dislike the fact that Garmin in their infinite wisdom chooses to charge you for a map update yearly; and it's $70 to boot! I've spoken with other owners and they said to update tri-annually. Garmin did come out with a lifetime map update for $120."

What's not so great: took a long time to update new maps, but may have been my Mom's internet connection, who knows
"Got this GPS for Christmas and was very pleased with it's ability to get from place to place. The spoken streets ahead is a nice feature and so far I have been pleased with this unit. It also recalculates very quickly when you do not go the way it wants you to go. Overall, very pleased with it for the money, would buy another if needed and recommend to others without reservation."

What's great about it: I was actually able to turn the thing on and start using it without the manual.
What's not so great: Can't leave in car in extreme temperatures.
"I'm not sure if I'm missing something, and I'm not sure if more expensive GPS units do something more, or something better, but this device is fantastic.
If you want pizza, you can search for pizza, and it will give you all possible pizza options in order of geographic proximity. I'm new to GPS, but this is an amazing feature to me -- sort of a search engine & GPS in one.
Very intuitive to navigate menu. My only wish is that it was tough enough to leave in the glove compartment in extreme cold or heat.
Really cool so far!"

"the frist time we used our nuvi 260W, we just plugged it in and in about 2 minutes, we were driving - it was very user friendly - no need to read directions. it has great feature to find restaurants (by cuisine type!) no matter where you are and it saves your home address and recent address inputs which came in very handy when travelling in unfamiliar territory. our first test was to a person's house literally in the middle of nowhere and it took us right to the house. we are very pleased and look forward to exploring many new places with the help of our nuvi."

What's great about it: Easy to use out of the box
What's not so great: accuarcy on street names is poor
"First time out, traveling in St. Paul, MN. The GPS called I35E "I35W." That makes a big differance in this area. Fortunatly I knew my way around. But if someone from out of town were using this, they could get easily confused. Also street names were inaccurate. The GPS named St. Peter St. by "Street Peter Street." This just made us laugh."

"Easy to use and set up. It doesn't have all the bells & whistles of more expensive models, but is all we really need. I found that the cable that connects my digital camera to our computer also works for this GPS so I can charge it that way."

"I would recommend this to everyone. I had a Garmin Nuvi before but someone stole it out of my car. I didn't think I could find another one to replace it, but after searching and reading other peoples reviews, I was able to find this one, which I feel is just as good as my last one I had. I think these reviews help out a great deal. The price was just what I could afford. I can't say anything bad about it yet. I think you would be very pleased with it."

"Didnt save my info when i first set it up. Sent me to the location, but the actual location was on the opposite side of the street. Another time it wasnt specific where final location was. I bought a Magellan originally but thought it was too much money and too fancy, so I downgraded to this. I shoulda kept the Magellan."
