comfy, clear, with a bonus
09/02/2008
By salesbossfrom Troy, MI
Pros: clear sound on either end, comfortable, lightweight, got that cool streaming audio feature Cons: pairing to a bberry 8820 was not smooth
"After going through a number of bluetooth headsets looking for the perfect one I think I've found one worth the price with an added bonus.
Pairing to my blackberry had issues that may well have had to do with the fact that I had it plugged in and charging whilst trying to pair it. Once it was paired I quickly found out how important it was to have the device pointed directly at the corner of my mouth. Once those two learnings were had, the enjoyment began.
Calls are crystal clear on both ends with folks not aware that I'm using a headset (albeit in a pretty quiet setting thus far). It is very comfortable after at least an hour of constant use and, but for the music playing in my ear, I hardly notice that I've got it on. That is the bonus. I didn't give much credence to the streaming audio capability of this headset but after trying it out, I'm hooked. I can keep this incredibly comfy device on and hear tunes (ok its mono but wearing headphones at my desk is NOT an option for me). I'd absolutely recommend this device."

great shape, not great for using it
08/26/2008
By ierstfrom Chicago
Pros: small, comfortable Cons: freezes constantly
"too much money for the piece that does not work all the time. It constantly "freezes" my phone (LG rumor). I can take 2 or3 phone calls, and then: nobody can hear me, I cannot hear anybody. On my cell phone: cannot switch to the "phone option" . I have to turn off the bluetooth, turn off the phone. Turn back on everything. And end up driving and talking on my phone, rather using the blurtooth. It sucks even more, because I use my cell for business. When clients are calling and I can't hear them it looks bad. PLus takes time to turn all the equipment off and back on to restart."

Pretty Good Purchase
08/15/2008
By JMCC
Pros: Noise Cancellation, Battery Life Cons: Ead Bud!!
"I've been through a couple of bluetooth headsets now and when I made this purchase I had done a lot... A LOT of research. Well, when I got this one bluetooth and used it I loved it. People heard me very well, even when I was driving on the highway with my window down. The only thing was that i couldn't hear them with the window down but I n't dthink thats something that any bluetooth can help with. The size is great (unless you're like me and put it down then don't remember where it is and because it is so small you can't find it for a day or two...). The only problem I have is the ear bud. I hate the ear bud design and I've tried all the little covers that it comes with yet none of them fit too well for very long. If I'm sitting still then, perfect. But if I walk, then the thing falls out. After a few minutes I have to twist and turn it to get it to fit in my ear but end up usually taking it out of my ear and use the speaker on my phone. In short, its a great bluetooth if you're not absent minded about its location, and if you can usually get earbuds to stay in your ear."

Pros: light, good sound quality on both ends Cons: battery life is way too short!
"I had a bt500 that finally died. was agreat headset, so I thought I would go with Jabra again. What a huge disapointment this headset was. The battery life is way below the rating. I had to charge it atleast twice to make it through the day. I'm not a big talker...maybe a half hour aday, and I tried two of these headsets just to make sure it wasn't a defective first one. ashame because I really liked the sound quality."

The best bluetooth headset I have used so far
08/06/2008
By paulymb357from Orlando, FL
Pros: Great Sound Quality, Very compact, supports A2DP/ streaming music, Low price! Cons: It is a little uncomfortable after wearing it for some time.
"I have tried many, many different bluetooth headsets. This one is by far the best one I have used so far! First of all the sound quality is perfect. People cannot tell that I am speaking to them on a headset at all. The noise cancelling technology in this piece is great. You can also crank up the volume in the earpiece if you need to in a loud environment. It can play audio very loudly which is a big plus. The only thing i would change about this headset is I would have included an optional earhook that can snap on and off. It can get a little uncomfortable after hours of use. Other than that, I love this bluetooth headset. Great value for top notch quality!"

Really good bluetooth for the price
07/20/2008
By 253Jfrom Tacoma
Pros: Good audio, light, compact, easy to set up. Cons: Ear piece is a little big, hurts the ear after a couple hours.
"First bluetooth ive bought, really good for people with glasses because no over the ear hook. goes straight into the ear. ALOT smaller than the picture makes it look. the only problem is the ear bud is a little big, so i have to switch ears after a couple hours. still a good purchase, and i recommend this product."

Great Ear Piece but the ear bud is ackward
07/12/2008
By Compiler62from Newnan GA
Pros: Connectivity to 2 devices at the same time Cons: Ear Bud is Ackward & Noise Cancellation is not all that great
"Like many people these days I carry two cell phones a HTC Mogul 6800 and a Razor both BT Compatable. The Jabra BT8040 solved my conectivity problem without having to resort to wearing two ear pieces. Also over the years I have been an Avid Plantronics user but the problem I have had with them is that over time the sound quality and noise cancelation function begins to fail. However the noise cancelation upon testing the Jabra BT8040 in the wind was a major disappointment and I am hoping this is not the case when I am at work walking the factory floor.
I was able to play music through my HTC Mogul which was a pure joy even in mono while not perfect it does help when your shopping and do not want to carry an MP3 Player with you. I guess this is a personal choice.
I have never been a fan of ear buds because they tend to fall out of my ears but I felt the Jabra BT8040 may have solved that issue and for the moment it has however it takes quite abit of adjustment to get it right. I did read this so I was already aware that the unit might not fit perfectly out of the box but it took me about 30 mins to get it correct. All said everytime I am at home I keep trying to shake it out of my ear and the unit is holding firm although after several hours there is some slight discomfort so I may still have more adjusting to do.
I do plan on using it also for video confrencing be it Camfrog, Skype, MSN or Yahoo to see how well it works but the 6 hrs of talk time its still not enough time for me to use it to its full potential. I tend to be a power user and in having said that I wish it had 16 hrs talk time.
I gave it a rating of 4 because of the noise cancellation it would of been a 2-3 but the fact that it can be connected with two BT devices at the same time and could be paired with music devices made me give it a 4. I think Jabra should make an accessory to install an ear clip but the verdict is still out with the ear bud."

Pros: Sound Quality, Comfort, Functions
"This is the best Bluetooth headset I have ever tried, and I have tried a few. It is extremely comfortable. The sound quality is also excellent, even for the person you are talking to. My favorite function is probably the ability to listen to my music through it. I love this headset."

Pros: Works as advertised Cons: To light that I had lost 2 units, Charger not available to sell alone.
"This unit works great, I wish they made something to remind you about these things like a beep. These feel so comfortably that you'll forget their there in the ear. On a good note, driving while my sound system it at high level still able to hear my calls. Callers are able to hear me clear also."

Pros: light weight fits comfortably Cons: short battery life
"I bought this unit several months ago and I liked it because of the size of it, it was very easy to program to my phone and it worked great! But!!! the speaker in the unit is very poor, I could hardly hear people talking to me. The battery life was extremely short! I think theirs other units out there that cost more but are better so I would spend more money in a better product than this"

Money well spent!
04/20/2008
By CCRfuzzyfrom Myerstown PA
Pros: Works with WM6, Vista and iPhone Cons: so small it gets lost. ;P
"I bought this headset after reading the reviews on Cnet. This was money VERY well spent. I can carry my iPhone (play) my ATT Tilt (work), monitor both those phone lines, listen to my music and STILL use the speech recognition on my laptop! This little powerhouse has the ability to control 8 devices at once but my brain isn't up to that yet. The sound quality is excellent, the fit is comfortable and it pairs quickly and easily. The only thing I can't do is listen to the iPod feature of the iPhone but that's the lacking of the iPhone, not the headset. It plays music from the Tilt seamlessly."

Decent headset
04/20/2008
By OniDracula
Pros: Small, lightweight, easy to hear conversation, comfortable Cons: Microphone's noise cancellation isn't the greatest
"Overall, this is a good purchase. It has what you would expect from a mid-range headset. It comes with 4 total ear piece covers in 3 different sizes. Finding the size that is comfortable for you is important, as the medium size for me was a bit painful after a while. That said, using the small size is absolutely comfortable while staying firmly placed in my ear.
Conversations are clear and easy to hear, however some people have complained that my voice sounds tinny, while others complain that the gain is too high (too loud). These are minor complaints compared to low-end headsets. When a call is coming in, the headset will play a somewhat musical tone whether your phone itself is set to silent ringing or not. A bit handy for situations where your phone ringing or vibrating will cause interruption.
Signal strength between the phone and the headset is strong (phone is a Helio Ocean), and the 33ft. claim is almost correct in real life situations. I find the distance on it helpful for times when your phone can't get decent cell signal without being near a window or even outside.
The buttons are decently placed, but I would prefer the volume buttons to be placed on the top and bottom sides of the headset, to make it easier to press both at the same time for mute. The main button being slightly recessed helps to keep from accidentally pressing it, but does require that you hold the entire headset as you're pressing it (otherwise you just smoosh the thing into your ear and the button still doesn't get pressed).
Charging it is simple, they provide a (very) short USB cable to charge from your computer and much longer AC adapter. When you plug it in, the unit will automatically disconnect from your phone. While charging, a yellow/green light will indicate it's charging and a green light will indicate it's fully charged. After you unplug it, it will automatically reconnect to your phone if it is in range.
Again, a good overall headset with some minor annoyances. I would recommend this to anyone wanting to buy their first headset that doesn't want to spend a lot for a high end model. Just don't lose the thing in your shirt pocket and wash the shirt."

Technically Excellent - ergonomically poor
04/20/2008
By JarJarfrom Sterling, VA
Pros: Very small-light, excellent reception and funtional features. Cons: Falls out of ear easily
"After much research I selected the Jabra BT8040 because of all the features it claimed, including working with many cellphones and my LG Vx3850. I wore it around the house for two days just to see if it would stay in my ear - it didn't no matter what I tried using the supplied Jabra gels. So I formed a physical retainer out of an older spare Jabra earpiece hook I had and shaped it to fit me and the BT8040. Now it stays put and doesn't fall out even when walking or moderate activity. Very comfortable. It's a great earpiece and if Jabra improved the ergonomics I would rate it outstanding. Note: I purchased it at Bestbuy because I could return it easily if I didn't like it. Unless something else goes wrong, which I do not expect, I'll keep it."

Great little headset
04/20/2008

Pros: small, in ear, clear sound Cons: picks up all background sounds
"After 2 other headset,s I am glad I found this one. It is small and has great sound. Other headsets never stayed on my ear but this one is light and stays put...I don't even notice it is there. The only drawback is it picks up all sounds so the person on the other end doesn't have the clear sound I have. All in all, I am very happy with my purchase."

Great Buy
04/17/2008
By DarkTowerfrom Oxnard, CA
Pros: Very Clear and Easy Setup Cons: Picks up Background noise
"All in all this is a great product. It paired up instantly with no problems to my phone and PS3. The only drawback is that it picks up all the background noise in my background so the person on the other end hears everything thats going on where I am. But no static or dropped calls and most important it is very comfortable to wear."
