What's great about it: I have never seen a vacuum clean a rug like this one. Picks up animal hair (5 cats, 1 dog) like nothing.
What's not so great: A little heavy but worth it.

What's great about it: cleans embedded pet hair off carpets, great accessories, easy to use.
What's not so great: It's quite heavy but strong motor makes up for it

"This vacuum is the by far the best I've ever used! I never knew a vacuum could pick up pet hair off carpets and stairs with one pass, clean carpeted stairs and risers with one sweep of the special stairs attachment, and remove dust from TV vents, window blinds, etc. so easily. It's a miracle! It's also very reasonably priced and a terrific value. It has saved me so much time and frustration. Thank you Eureka!!"

What's great about it: Cleans thoroughly--picks up everything in its path--better than bagless w/ HEPA, dirt and debris stay inside the bag!
What's not so great: It's a bit heavier, but once I got used to it I really liked it. Feels well-constructed.

"My previous upright was a Dirt Devil bagless with HEPA. It was atrocious to clean the filter; I'll never buy a bagless again. This Eureka combines the best of both worlds: a HEPA bag (optional, but worth it if you have allergies or asthma) and a HEPA filter.

It's a nicely built and packed with features you wouldn't expect to see on an upright costing less than $200.

Buy it.. you'll be happy and you'll get your money's worth."

"This vacuum is great!! It really truely has great suction. I have 2 cats that are constantly leaving their fur around the house and I can actually see the fur get sucked up before the vacuum even goes over it. It is a bit heavy if you need to take it up and down stairs, but hey its a good work out. It has all the attachments you need too, I've used all of them and they work great especially the power paw. That works wonders on the stairs. Putting the handle back in place when your done vacuuming is alittle difficult. But i noticed if you hold the foot lever down that releases the handle it goes back in place much easier. Overall for the price, I think its a great deal and does the job."

"I needed a new vacuum as my old worn out Bissell was not picking up pet hair or anything else any longer. I did my homework and checked reviews everywhere, and this vacuum got high ratings on almost every website, especially for picking up pet hair. I also have two friends who own this vacuum and they love theirs, so I felt good about this purchase. The first time I used it I could not believe what it lifted from my carpet. My carpet looked brand new! I have a Border Collie miix; she is hairy and sheds a lot. This vacuum picked up not only the clumps of hair that I find here and there, but also the tiny hairs that were embedded in my carpet. My carpet went from looking dingy to looking brand new in minutes! There are also a lot of useful attachments that are all on board, so storage of attachments is simple.

As for the complaints by other people, the vacuum is not really all that heavy, especially if you have it on the right setting for your carpet. The lever that releases the vacuum in order to lower the handle was a little stiff at first, but after a few uses, it was fine. The button that switches to vacuum from carpet to floor is a little awkward, but not so much that it takes away from how wonderful this vacuum is. I would recommend this vacuum to everyone. It is reasonably priced, easy to assemble, and completely cleans one's carpet.

Don't waste your money on more expensive vacuums, this is the one for you if you wish to have the cleanest carpet ever! It is amazing!"

What's not so great: Switch to flip back and forth from carpet to bare floor is a bit stiff

"I have had vacumms that cost much more than this one and none had the cleaning power this offers. For the price you will be happy with the product. It picks up so well I find I must change bags more frequently, they fill up faster than previous models, again proving the superior cleaning power. Watch dirt 3 inches away from the vacumm get sucked up before you even drive over the debris. Sure it could have issues down the road, but for now it is a great deal I got, I'm reasonably happy with this purchace."

"This vacuum really is as good as most reviews give it.For the price bracket it is in,it's wonderful.The motor is very strong but quiet and smooth.I have had a hoover windtunnel twin chamber bagless for the past 6 years and it was very messy to clean.I liked the badless ideal but the mess was to much!!very dirty to mess with.Compared to the hoover, the eureka has a stronger tool airflow thru the hose.The brushroll is made of real wood.Not plastic like hoover or dyson.I love the air flow control.It really gives it more power were you need it most.This thing picks up more dirt on one pass than the hoover did.So much for windtunnel hype.The only thing I see that needs improved on this vacuum is the brushroll control switch.When you have it in the upright position,the motor will grab the brushroll a little bit and this is what is burning up the belts!So when you are going to use the airflow hose and it is in the upright position,Reach down and make sure you push firmly on the switch to bare floor.That way it wont grab the brushroll.But just remember to push the switch back to floor when you are going to run it on your carpet.This will keep the belts lasting a long time.But never put it lower than halfway on the hight adjustment.Remember it has a lot of suction and the brushroll is very aggresive but gentle on the carpet.Oh and one last thing.I highly recomend the hepa bags made by 3m for this.They are the very best bags for it and they last longer than the reguler ones do.You can get them at best buy.For the price,this vacuum is absolutly wonderful!! It has good build quality and is very comfotable to use with the contor grip handle and it is not all that heavy."

"Best vacuum i have ever used .... and I have had many ! The suction is remarkable! It picked up all dog hair embedded in my deep pile throw rug, which I thought was hopeless, and left the rug pile looking like new (fluffy again) The Power Paw's suction was unbelievable, it so easily removed white dog hair from my black velvet sofa...not an easy task. Hard wood floor setting miraculous...normally I have to sweep the floors ,then vacuum my pile w/ the hose and attachments otherwise all the dirt is spit out back of vacuum...this vacuum just hovered over the hardwood, and sucked up dirt without any kickback...AMAZING!! The only drawbacks so far... the hose could be longer, and suction too good...have to straddle small throw rugs ! Best Value out there!"

"We are exceptionally pleased with the performance of the vacuum, especially for the price. We have used it for six months with no problems or undue wear. Like any vacuum, if you set the brushes too low it will eat belts and burn bearings. It gets up pet hair very nicely. The power paw made the purchase worthwhile all by itself... great at getting pet hair off the navy blue la-z-boy microsuede. I recommend it highly."

What's not so great: Plastic Belts, Faulty Rollers.

"Aside from the motor this vacuum is all plastic. Not necessarily a bad thing but it’s not put together very well either. The plastic “R” belt is too large and slick. I have burnt three brand new belts right out of the package. The roller has plastic bearings that melt over time (about a year) and then you have to replace the whole roller. Mine came incorrectly installed and melted after two months. Of coarse these problems didn’t start until the point of no return. I’ve done searches on the web for fixes or better parts but there aren’t any. These problems turned out to be common and I wish I had done my research before buying. I bought the vacuum 6 months ago and it's been collecting dust in the closet for the last 4."

"I just bought this vacuum today and was very excited to get home and try it but I am so disappointed. I had a Eureka Victory for about 12 years and loved it. This vacuum is very loud when the bar is turning and it is very heavy...I've tried different heights to make sure I was using the right one. It does pick up dirt really well but I think maybe the suction is a little overkill. I love the way it works on my bare floors, though. It is quieter, pushes easily, and you don't have to be over top of the dirt for it to grab it. Love that part of it. On my big area rugs...hate it. I love to vacuum but with this one it has just become a chore."

"First off, a little bit about my household. We have 100% ceramic (rustic) tile throughout the house. Not a stitch of carpeting. We have deep grout lines and the beveled edge tile. It's gorgeous, but hard to clean within the grout lines. We also have 2 long haired cats, 2 dogs (one being a siberian husky mix and one being a black lab/border collie wth a food allergy), and 2 kids. :-) My floors stay dirty regardless of how often I sweep, mop, and dust. I was so tired of sweeping, but I hadn't found a vacuum that would pick up the dirt, it just blew it around and sucked up maybe 1/3 of it. Sweeping kept it cleaner, but I was sweeping every other day and it took me an hour each time. I read reviews on this vacuum and it seemed like it would actually do it's job. I bought it today and had to comment immediately at what a great job it does. I will update my review in a couple of months if anything changes. It not only sucks up what it rolls over, but I can see the dirt and pet hair being pulled under it from 2-3 inches away. My grout lines are actually dirt free for once. I am so excited that I can run a vacuum now instead of sweeping! Out of all the reviews that I had read there was only a comment now and then about bare floors, so I wanted to make sure I reviewed this one for those of you out there with all bare floors. This does work.

There are a couple of negative/neutral points that I want to clarify though. First, the handle release button is hard to push, but I have realized that if you put some pressure on it (medium pressure) and gently pull the handle back at the same time, it's not so bad. Secondly, The belt worries me. It is made of thin plastic. We'll see how long it lasts. Thirdly, since I want to keep my brush setting on bare floors, it doesn't seem to cooperate. I had it on the bare floors setting and vacuumed a bit, when I came back later to finish up, I had to reset it on bare floors. When I released the handle it automatically went to carpet. I don't know if this is suppose to happen since it only did it once, the other times I tried it was fine. Lastly, the bags are small and hard to find, but I will order them in bulk online along with belts. These are very minor neutrals/negatives for me though. The bag will last a while, the setting is not hard to adjust, and hopefully the belt will hold up.

The positives are: Man! This thing has some serious suction!!! The hoses are clear so you can see clogs. It's a nice looking machine. It's not as loud as what some others were saying. It is not as heavy as some were saying, mind you I had a Kirby before this. :-) Love the HEPA! And, did I mention the suction? :-) All around, this vacuum is really good and a great value."

"We looked at this Eureka vacuum and the Dyson Animal. We read some good reviews on the Eureka, and decided to try it. We got it on sale for about $130. It is, by far, the best vacuum we've owned. The suction is outstanding, and it feels like a good, solid vacuum cleaner. When you attach the accessories, the suction is still quite strong. Does a great job on hardwood floors as well as carpets. We do not have any pets, but we do have 3 young children who wreak havoc on our floors. This vacuum has been up to the task so far. I'm so glad we chose this vacuum, and decided not to spend the additional $300 on the Dyson."

"Glad I didn't spend the $400+ for a Dyson....which I was prepared to do until I read all the mixed reviews. For $125 on sale, this vacuum didn't miss a spec of dust or pet hair the first time I used it. I'm very impressed. Other reviews complained about it being heavy and the foot release being hard to use. I really don't think it's overly heavy. I lugged mine around the 3 floors of my home without problem, and figured out the perfect pressure/angle to easily release the foot pedal. I love all the attachments on board and the floor vs hose feature. By shutting off the floor suction, it makes the hose suction more powerful than th shop vac I use in my garage! I'm very happy with my purchase."

What's great about it: Pick up power

"I had the DYSON pet vacume befor I got my Eureka and I was very disapointed my wife put down the carpet feshener and lets it sit on the carpet we thought we were picking all the dog hair and what ever was on the floor when we vacumed. We notice it seemed to take long time to make the carpet look like it was clean with the DYSON. MY wife started to check in on prices and reviews to see which is the best for the money. So after reviews we went out to by the eureka got it home and started to vacume and you can hear all the carpet freshener being picked up and the carpet looked pet hair free and clean. After 2 cleaning the bag is already full which tell me how much stuff the DYSON was leaving behind."

"I just bought this vacuum over the weekend and I love it. I had did some research before I bought it and most of the reviews I read said the only problem was the handle adjustment button was hard to operate, so I took my chances and I feel the handle button is not that hard to push. The vacuum was very easy to put together. To test it out, I used my oold bagless Hoover first to vacuum my carpet. I then used the Smart Boss and couldn't believe how much dirt my Hoover missed. I never had any good luck with the bagless vacuums in the past so I switched to this one. I don't mind changing the bags at all. I have one dog and one cat, so really not much hair, so I thought until I used this vacuum. It is a little heavy, but the power is great. I havent used the attachments yet, but I think they will also work good. The best part was it was on sale 15% off at Best Buy so I only paid $126.00. The bags are a little pricey - 2 for $10.00 at Best Buy, but they were HEPA type. Best Buy also has less expensive bags which were 4 for $5.00. The belt is plastic, and I haven't priced that yet."

"I was looking to replace my bagless Eureka (I hate the bagless mess!) and found this vacuum. I could not be happier. The price is great because you get a lot of cleaning without having to spend too much. The brush stops when the handle is locked upright to avoid "burning" the carpet when you are using the hose and attachments while the vacuum is stationary (Nice!). It is a bit noisy when the brush is spinning during carpet cleaning. At first I thought there was something wrong but that is just the way it works, and work it does! Thus, the bag fills up quickly - you should check it often. Bag replacement is easy and clean - no mess, just toss it and get a clean bag."

"This vacuum has great pick up; unless the bag is full. I picks up everything that can fit through the tubing or floor rollers. I read some people had expensive repairs; but I have not had any problems with it. I use it regularly. It is not quiet; but not really loud compared with many vacuums. It really makes the vacuum work easy and quick; cause it picks up everything. I use it on my wool Persian style rugs and I have had no problem; but on an inexpensive bathroom rug I set floor roller height too low and it pulled out some of the rug fibers; but I had not problems on the wood parts of the floor or the thick Persian hand knotted rugs. It picks up dog hair, dust & dirt right away. It was a good buy."
