The Nintendo DS Lite game console is now more impressive than before. At less than two-thirds the size of its predecessor and 20 percent lighter, this DS Lite is even more portable than the original Nintendo DS. Combine that with a longer, thicker stylus and you've got unprecedented levels of DS gameplay ease. Four brightness levels provide enhanced versatility; turn the brightness down when you want to conserve battery power, or give the brightness a boost when you need extra visibility. In addition, you can now see the LED lights whether the unit is open or closed. Seeing, operating and enjoying video games on your DS is now greatly improved, making this console well worth the investment. This version of the DS console features repositioned start and select buttons for more convenient access, and the microphone now sits in the center. A removable cover keeps the Game Boy Advance cartridge slot from becoming clogged with dust and debris until the next time you play. Take on the competition and chat via the built-in wireless mode, and thrill to 3D-rendered Nintendo DS games. An included lithium-ion battery keeps gameplay going strong for up to 10 hours. This console is a replacement. we are so glad with it that I got another one for my boy.

My son saved his allowance and I chipped in a bit, too. He says it was worth the wait. Games load quickly. Play response is great. I followed the advice of another parent reviewer and got the screen protector. Well worth the $6.99. I also took the advice of employees at the local game store to find games my son would like. The battery life is awesome. After a few days of play time, I wasn't sure it was going to NEED another charge! Alas, elementary physics finally caught up with it and I had to plug it in.
What's great about it: Easy to setup, battery life.
What's not so great: Nothing so far.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Probably the greatest handheld game system made by Nintendo since it can play any Game Boy ever made by Nintendo. Battery life is good but won't last very long after many years. Using the stylus can be annoying since it's not as accurate and precise as it should be. Design seems fragile if dropped frequently.
What's great about it: Can play any Game Boy game
What's not so great: Using the stylus can be annoying

I bought this for my 5 1/2 year as something new for a long road trip a few weeks ago. I was going to buy used, but Best buy was offering a free bakugan game with purchase, so it was worth it to buy new. I wanted to get 3 games to keep his interest of different levels and bakugan was one of them. I figured bakugan would be fairly difficult, so I bought spongebob truth or square as the medium level game and build a bear workshop as the easy go-to game. Spongebob is by far his favorite, offers challenge and requires reading which has encouraged him to learn to read more. (Spongebob offers hints along the way, but you have to read them.) Build a bear is his next favorite and Bakugan is currently third, but will probably be his favorite once he masters it. Build a bear has been a great go-to game and it does offer challenge at higher levels. I also hope it will be a great game for my almost 3 year old when she starts wanting her own DS in the next year or two. I also purchased a travel kit/case when I picked the game up at the store and my son is very adamant about putting the games and DS away when he is done so they are not lost. The travel case/kit also came with screen protectors and more stylus pens. I recommend the travel case. I worried he would be spending too much time on the DS, but he is a great regulator without my intervention and plus we keep our kids busy doing other things physically and artistically to keep them well rounded. This has been a great purchase for my family.
What's great about it: Once charged -its plug and play
What's not so great: a little pricy new
I would recommend this to a friend!

The Nintendo DS is probably the best invention for parents who take flights and long car trips with kids. They can play two player with each other, which is really cool, also.
What's great about it: Shipped ready to go after charging it.
What's not so great: Screen gets scratched

very good product our son is 6 and he loves it. very good babysitter if you are waiting for a doctor visit etc. where you would need them be still and quite.

This is more appropriate for 6-12/13 year old. My 15 yr old was disappointed and I had to return. FYI.. the games are a little diffucult to find in military Px'/BX ,which is what we have here...
What's great about it: small/compact
What's not so great: it is geared for the under 13 age group... my son did not like it at all.. had to return

I purchased from Best Buy because they always stand behind what they sell and because they offered an extended warranty which I thought was important because it was a gift for 5 1/2 year old. Santa always comes through!
What's great about it: christmas gift for a 5 1/2 year old Sanata brought it

I bought this for my grandaughter this year, I bought one last year for her older sister (9yrs), she was so disappointed when she did not get one, I had to get her one this year. She is 6 years old. She told her Aunt, "I got a ds, I got a ds"

My 7-year old son loves it. We bought the starter kit that protects the screens and the outside, which was a great purchase as well. He loves Super Mario and it gives me hours of peace when he's playing. :) We really like that he can play Gameboy Advance games on it too. And by the way, we bought it online here, and picked it up in the store less than an hour later - so convenient! We did the same with a TV; it's a guarantee they'll have it and it's so easy.
What's great about it: Touch Screen, Classic Nintendo games

It's a great game system. I expecialy like the color. It's really fun and it is very durable. I dropped it on concrete and it still works fine.

This is my first DS I have ever owned and it is so much fun. I don't know why but I like it better than the PSP I mean sure the psp has more features and everything but i love that this has a touch screen and the games are just classic. You got Mario Kart and Yoshi's Island even New Super Mario brothers. The only thing that pesters me is the sound. I wish it could go higher but the touchscreen makes up for that, besides I'm not a big fan of sound only sometimes. The brightness levels are wonderful, you get very dim to very bright. I think there are like 5 different brightness levels. The blue color to me seems elegant and you can easily take away any fingerprints off with a cleaning cloth. Even though you have to be within about 30 feet of a person pictochat is still another good edition to this system. All in all I highly recommend this product to anyone who is a child to even adults. No matter the age you will always have fun with this!
What's great about it: Love the color, It's very compact, amazed by the touch screen, good brightness
What's not so great: The sound could go up a bit higher

The Nintendo DS Lite is a piece of art, something to keep you busy and really entertain you anywhere you go. This system does a lot more than you think it would do with the size that it is you know, you can battle a friend on Mario Kart or Mario Bros. even if only one of you have the game because there is this thing caled DS Download play where two people can play with only one game card. There are also many more games that you play with others as long as both of you have a DS Lite or a DSi. You can also play against computers which you can set on easy medium or hard that are programed by the maker of the small portable handheld. This system causes relief of boredness and has sideaffects of a happy human being!
What's great about it: very portable and lasts long
What's not so great: sound doesn't go very loud
I would recommend this to a friend!

It is my favorite game system for many reasons like it's portability,design,touch screen,and mostly all the fun it has given me.
What's great about it: Its very affordable for kids,and it can easily be pulled out of your pocket and start playing.y
What's not so great: Its a little hard to fit in some of my pocket.

DS is sooo cool, But the thing broke in half after only a year. I loved that thing to death. I can't wait till my mom buys me a new one!!! She will get me the cobalt blue one ! This time, It will NEVER leave my sight, unless I am assleep. I better learn to sleep with my eyes open! NOONE will play it but me. But I won't get it until the 4th of JUNE, NNNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What's great about it: superior graphics,FUN, great color choice, for all the girly gamers out there
What's not so great: I had one, but it only lasted a year, the top screen broke off, i was always very careful with it.

This is a great product and it will keep you interested in it for a long time. my sister got one last Christmas and I loved it so much I played it more than her. I now have my own and I and obsessed with it. This is a great product and you will love it!!
