I just purchased this. It's really easy to use and the sound is great. It's nice and slender with a good looking design. I also like the remote.

Very sleek... GREAT BASS!!! Great price for the quality... The best part: being able to move that big old boombox from the counter to the trash!

Everything it needs to be. Would prefer it to be a little thinner, but thats about it.
Remote works well, sound quality is good, reception is pretty good.
Installation was not difficult.

What's great about it: Compact, well built, good sound, easy to operate
What's not so great: Price seems a little high
I bought this from my local BB for my wife for Christmas. I installed it under a wall cabinet out of the way where it is easily accessible; installation was easy with the included template. We haven't used the MP3 function yet so I can't comment on that, but the radio and cd work quite well and it is easy to operate. This is by far the best under cabinet cd/radio combinations that I found. A little pricey but well worth it to see my wife so pleased.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Functions well; battery backup broken

What's great about it: Sounds good; picks up stations good; functions as designed
What's not so great: battery backup holder poor design; breaks easily
Purchased this for Christmas 2011 when it went on sale. Installation was easy and all the functions work well. I can even get the AM stations that I listen to.
I gave it three stars because of an issue w/ the battery backup. The instructions indicate that the time should be accurate out of the box, and you only need to adjust the time zone. This was not true, as the time was not displayed until I plugged it in. And the battery indicator was flashing so I thought that the battery was probably dead. I purchased a new battery. To install it, you use a screwdriver to pry open the battery holder. Needless to say, after prying it off, and inserting a new battery, it would not go back in place. And the battery backup indicator was still flashing. I suspect that the original battery was ok, and that the backup was not functioning properly. Instead of returning the unit, I simply taped the battery backup shut and now live with a flashing indicator on the display. The backup holder is of poor design.
As I said, all the other functions work fine. The sound is of very good quality for the size and cost. I would like to see a task light added. And of course and re-designed battery backup holder.
I would recommend this to a friend!

It does not take up valuable counter space. It looks, sounds and plays great. It keeps me on track in the mornings. Love it!

What's great about it: Sound, convenience
What's not so great: tuning
Overall I like the convenience of having a radio/CD player under my counter. It even has a port for mp3 devices. The sound is very good for a small unit. My only complaint is the digital tuning for AM radio. You can only adjust the tuning by increments of 10, so getting a precise signal is difficult. Otherwise, I would give it 5 stars.

Very easy to use and the radio signal for the AM radio comes in very good. This was a Christmas gift and my wife really loves it. I'm a Sony person anyway. Very good product.

What's not so great: both disinterested service and inferior produict
Service: I waited an extended time while your disinterested help told me how busy he was. However, I watched him wander off to a side area to visit befoe he nonchalanty chose to finally pick up my product. He gloated about his authority while givng a black eye to your company!
Product: this supposed upgrade performed much less satisfacortily than the original Sony--used for years--that it replaced.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

What's great about it: decent sound quality
What's not so great: fairly large and no black option
I have other Sony equipment and am very happy with it so I was hoping this player would fall in the same catagory. For the most part it did. We wanted it mainly for playing CDs and mp3. The sound is very good for the size of speakers. I was surprised at how large the unit is. For just a radio and CD player it's fairly wide and deep. Mounting was fairly straight forward and the paper template for drilling the holes was right on. I have undercounter LED lights so I had to make sure to stay as far away from them as possible. After drilling the initial holes I used a larger bit to make a countersink so the screw heads would be flush in the shelf. One disappointment for me was the radio reception. Only the very local stations come in. The power cord is supposed to be fully extended for best reception, but my placement did not allow for that. Finally, the unit is chrome and all my appliances are black so it doesn't match very well. I suppose stainless steel appliances are more popular so it would look fine with those.

I read some of the other reviews that said there was poor reception. I have mine mounted next to the refrigerator and I get great reception!!! It works great, sounds great and looks great in my kitchen!! I would 100% recomend it!! Mounting was easy!! I did it myself. There is a template that comes along to help you place it exactly where you want it!

What's great about it: Sound.
What's not so great: Price could have been a little lower.
Love the look and sound of it! My wife loves to cook and loves the convenience of now being able to enjoy music while she cooks. The sound is better than I expected for a small cd player. Of course, Sony is a fairly reliable brand. It seems up to their normal high standards.

What's great about it: Size and sound, plus ease of use.
What's not so great: Single color choice, poor radio reception.
This is a purchase for my mother. It works as advertised and is just right given the ease of use. This was installed in the kitchen and allows her to listen to our local radio station. Unfortunately, the reception of the unit is poor and does not pick up much else. The sound is acceptable, and for basic radio/CD listening, it fits the bill.
I would recommend this to a friend!

What's great about it: Good sound/volume
What's not so great: easier to adjust volume with remote than with the knob (not a big deal though).
I am very pleased with this unit. It does everything I had hoped it would. It is on all the time and I love the versatility of it (radio, cd, mp3 hook up). I love the ease of the remote. I am able to get one of my favorite radio stations that I was not able to get with my old radio. I did have to use some adheasive hooks to hold the cord up for best reception but that isn't a big deal.
I did not personally do the installation but it did seem like it wasn't hard to do.
