This is my first camera that i bought, and i really do like it. I think that it takes very nice pictures. I dont know much about it right now but i'm learning each day. It has some cool features on it that i cant wait to master the use of! So far i have had a good experience with my camera, hopefully i continue to. Oh my camera is blue by the way!!!
What's great about it: its easy to operate, i got mine at an on sale price so that was nice, it takes really good pictures

After reading the other reviews I decdied to take my chances and order this camera on sale. It took great outdoor and close up shots. However, like the other reviews said, the shots indoors come out grainey. I returned this camera within a week. Don't waste your money

I'm a Canon guy when it comes to cameras. For work, I shoot on a full XSI SLR and love it. All of my previous consumer cameras have been Canons. I did a little research and tried this little guy out... wow. This is the kind of camera that should make professional photographers a little nervous.... :)
What's great about it: Professional features built-in, style, optics, fast shutter
What's not so great: nothing yet!

I love this camera. It takes great pictures in any lighting so your not wasting your time trying to figure out which setting to put it on. It has many cool features on it, you can add frames, change the colors, crop it. The battery life on it is amazing, with old cameras i had to change the batterys almost every time I used it but with this one I have used it several times and the battery is still full. This is a great camera.

I just got this camera today in the mail so I am still figuring things out. I bought the camera for $199.99 which is not that bad I guess. The pictures are honestly breathtaking! If you zoom all the way up, you can see someone pores on their face! I haven't gotten a xD card yet so I cannot use some of the main features. The camera was on special so I saved $80. Now the price is back to its original price and I would not recommend buying it for the original price!!! Wait for it to go on sale!!!!! But the camera is amazing!
What's great about it: Small, 7x optical, price, looks elegant, picture quality .......
What's not so great: Needs an xD card to be able to use main features.
I would recommend this to a friend!

Bought this camera for my college bound daughter. Worked great for about 2 months then had repeated battery problems which Olympus was never able to correct!!!
What's not so great: Camer had battery problems from the get go

What a let down. I thought with such a nigh price tag and the couple of user reviews in here that the Olympus 1010 would be a fantastic camera. I was sooo wrong. It could have been a good camera, but the pictures kept coming out slightly blurry. Even while taking outdoor shots with plenty of light, the focus was awful. Also the flash and white balance worked terribly together -people would usually come out a ghostly white instead of their actual skin tone being picked up.
Do not buy this camera - get the Canon SD790 instead - cheaper and a much better device.
What's great about it: The zoom was pretty amazing and mostly clear.
What's not so great: Pictures are not sharp, the flash and white balance make people ghostly white.
No, I would not recommend this to a friend.

Previously I had another Olympus Digital Camera that was quite bulky (i got it when i was 14 and called it "the brick"), it couldn't fit in any pants pockets and sometimes carrying around a camera case was too much of a hassle, it needed AA batteries and used them up quickly, which meant that carrying a camera case was pretty much required. I did my research and knew what I was looking for; a camera that was slimmer with a long battery life, and hopefully more mega pixels. What I got was more then I could have asked for.
I take pictures at Marching Band and ColorGuard competitions and when ColorGuard goes indoors for winter you are not allowed to use flash photography because it is distracting so the available light setting is the best!

What's great about it: Easy to use, great zoom, small, very good picture quality, and MANY features. Long battery life.

I bought this camera because I was going on vacation and I saw this one in the store and fell in love with it. the zoom is great and the picture quality is amazing. the best camera out there today.
What's great about it: nice zoom, good price, tons of features, nice and small, long battery life

The 1010 is a great camera. It is very easy to use and produces high quality images. You can do just about anything you want with this camera. They have a incorporated a neat idea by being able to use two different media cards (the xD-Picture card and microSD). The only drawback is when you are using a microSD media card you are not able to use three of the camera's functions: panorama, 3D, and art. So be careful when purchasing media, the microSD is much cheaper; but if you want all the functions, you'll have to spend more for the xD-Picture card.
What's great about it: Zoom, Functionality, Picture Quality
What's not so great: microSD memory card

I picked this camera up last week to take along when we visited our grandchildren
over Christmas. Our older Olympus was only 3 mega pixels and did not have sound with the video setting.
I had absolutely no problems using this camera and took over 200 pictures and
10 videos over the 2 days on the 2 gig picture card.
I took some shots of their Christmas Tree early before the kids got up with very dim lighting using the low light night setting. It turned out great.
Then when using the flash and the auto setting it was also great.
Battery life was great and handled all the activity.
Great quality camera with unbelievable clarity when you zoom.
Wish the Video had a zoom.

I've owned four Olympus cameras prior to this one... I have always loved them and think that Olympus offers a good value AND an exceptional product. I initially decided I was going to try Nikon and see what the fuss was about. I was very disappointed in its picture quality, and decided to go back to my tried and true Olympus. I am just so excited about this one. It takes pictures in almost half the time as my Stylus 810, and the picture quality is wonderful. The camera feels sturdy but is not too heavy. I love the 7x optical zoom... it's amazing and I'm hoping it will come in handy for an event I'm shooting next week. I couldn't be happier with this camera.
What's great about it: Picture quality, shoots pictures faster than previous models

This camera is amazing. it takes pictures at such a quick rate. I am able to be moving and it will take an amazing picture. Since i'm in Europe traveling at the moment i wanted a camera that would work good and this camera has. i love it.
What's great about it: It takes pictures so quick.
What's not so great: Too many options to pick from when taking a picture.

I bought my first digital camera back in 2003. It was a Sony with 3.2 mg and it was a great camera at the time. I finally decided to upgrade and "get with the times". I went to Best Buy and the customer service was great. I told the rep what I was looking for and she offered this camera. I felt like I wanted to stick with Sony since I had already owned one previously. But she encouraged me to try the Olympus and told me I wouldn't be sacrifcing any quality by going with Olympus. She was right. The camera is awesome. It has a ton of features. The best thing about it is the zoom and stabilization. I hate when pictures come out blurry and this camera prevents that somehow (not sure, I'm not that technical). I definitely recommend this camera.
What's great about it: Size, Features, Price, and Zoom

After looking at cameras for well over a month, I picked this one to take on my trip to Ireland. I haven't left for Ireland yet, but I took it to a concert the other last week. It took 300+ pictures and also a 5 minute video of one of the songs on a 2GB card. Quite a few pictures were blurry due to the musicians moving around. The rest were quite good. The built in panorama doesn't always work too well on the camera, I'll leave that up to the software. I'm sure I'll get better acquainted with the functionality and be taking great pictures. Overall, I'm satisfied with my purchase.
What's great about it: High resolution, high optical zoom
What's not so great: In-camera panorama doesn't always line up.

Excellent camera. My first point & Shoot in 12 years and I'm not disappointed. I first bought the Nikon S610 and was utterly suprised at the poor picture quality, especially from a Nikon camera. I went back to Best Buy and the sales rep kept shying me away from the Olympus for some reason, (despite the high ratings online). I asked him why he would'nt reccomend the Olympus and he simply stated that the average consumer prefers a non-Olympus merely for the fact that the memory is more expensive. However, I'm a pro-sumer so picture quality and performance is way more important to me. The Olympus 1010 delivered immediate satisfaction. Look to go beyond all of the AUTO features and adjust the exposure settings manually with the help of the onscreen comparison mode and you WILL master the perfect picture!
What's great about it: Fast Startup, Great pictures, Loads of options, Bright Screen, Exceptional Battery Life
What's not so great: Panoramic option only available on Olympus memory card

I got this camera as my first digital camera before going on a trip to Greece. Not only did it take great museum shots but outdoors of the beautiful scenery and nightlife. It is nice and compact and the features are comparable to a manual SLR which I normally use. Very impressed with this camera.
What's great about it: quality pictures, great features, easy to carry around
What's not so great: trouble focusing on items behind glass

We bought this camera to use on our honeymoon to Maui. Since we'll probably never get back to Maui, it was imperative that we got some great pictures. This camera was just what we wanted, small, high res, and a pretty decent zoom.
We took over 400 pictures on our 2G xD card (which was only $30) and are thrilled. Easy to use, lots of specialized settings, and a large viewing screen. We've been showing these pics to our families and they even look good on TV. They look great on the computer and on prints.
Since the honeymoon, we've also used the "burst" feature to catch my brother-in-law on the football field. Well worth the money. You're going to love this camera.

this camera is great for the price. the zoom is excellent, and the LCD is very clear and sharp. the battery lasts a long time, i've only charged mine once so far. there are many shooting modes such as "behind glass", "night scene", and "sport". while these modes seem handy, the camera must be held very still to get a good image while using many of these modes. i don't have a tripod, but a few times i stabilized the camera fairly well and got a great image. overall, a very useful, small, user-friendly camera.
What's great about it: small size, great zoom, long battery life
What's not so great: tri-pod/stabilization almost necessary for many modes
