What's great about it: crystal clear skype, great screen, easy to use, head turning looks, kb not bad What's not so great: could have more sensitive reception, wish it had gps and a sim slot, and really wish it had a basic word processor
"i was looking primarily for a handset that works on skype from wifi. i use skype a lot, and with a bluetooth earset, people have had trouble with the sound if a fan is on. not a problem with this mylo com2. the sound sent and received is EXCELLENT. indistinguishable from a good cell or landline call. skype quality on the com2 is just excellent. the unit is pretty easy to set up unless you are not familiar with using puters much. the manual is not easy to use, invoking a bit of "engrish." but, i'm techie, so no big deal. the IM's work as intended, you can attach files, etc. the browser is faster than people think. i use flickr a lot. it's not a fast loading site compared to some others, but it loads well, the links work, and the javascript stuff seems to work okay. the screen looks great. you can definitely show people nice photos from online with this and not feel cheesed-out by the display. there are a couple of shortcomings: the unit really could use a simple word processor. there's enough ram to store notes on the fly. this would make it great for travel writers, reporters, etc. the kb is a bit weird at first, and the decision to make every numerical digit a two-click affair takes getting used to, especially if you use skype a lot (as i do). but it passes and the thing types pretty well for me at 6-2 ex hockey player fingers (big, defense). the slider feels pretty good, as if the thing will hold up. i wish the screen was a bit recessed for protection, and the sleeve that's free with the com2 fits but it's not as good as it could be. i'll say this: it's a web device that has skype in it. if you want a dedicated web device for IM, browsing and skype, this is killer. with a couple of added widgets, like WP and hopefully an MSN widget, it's mondo good. video quality is okay, but depends a LOT on your speed of connection. i'd be reluctant to do lots of d/l vid on this. internal stored vid looks good, though. the feel of the case is a touch slick: grippy surfaces would have helped. this is something motorola do well when they choose to do, and sony rarely does well for decades. overall, it's a sony. it's cool, it's not like anything else on the market, and like many experimental items from them, does things you don't expect, and not things you'd hope it did. overall, sure, twice the price of a nasty looking skype-only phone device, BUT, it does much more, people definitely have that "oooh, what is it?" look when you use it, and sheesh, that's half the fun! if you can afford it, buy one. the battery lasts exactly as spec'd by they way, and for most people, carrying a notebook is just for email, chat and a quick web-browse. you can do that with this, the battery lasts three or four times as long in use, it weighs nothing compared to a notebook and has the wow! factor going for it. recommended. oh, i'm well outside of the devices intended demographic: i'm old enough to be that demo's dad. and i like this thing."

"the problem with wifi is that people password protect their wifi so even if you detect a signal you are unlikely to be able to piggyback on it. without a wifi signal this unit is basically useless because all the best features, web browsing, phone, im, etc requires it. if you have access to free unlocked wifi at places that you frequent alot like home, work, favorite cafe then this may be worth it otherwise it is a waste of money."

"well, i bought this ITEM thinking it was a cell phone. After all it is under unlocked PHONES!!! but when i got it it turns out its not a phone. its a personal communication device. which means u can only instant message unless u get skype. but u need internet access to call people, even though the pricce is excellent. U can not put a sim card in this so it doesnt work on any phone service. but if u want to waste $300, this is the right item to spend it on.
o ya and best buy, remove the mylo from the cel phone column and put it in pda's like Circuit City!"

"I bought the Mylo Com-2 over the weekend and been playing with it to see what it had to offer. I was contemplating whether to purchase itouch or mylo. I decided on the mylo because it had the ability of inserting a memory stick.
The camera is a nice addition and you can draw on the picture. Picture quality is pretty good but I do suggest they add flash.
Instantly finds a wifi connection and browsing isnt that bad (don't have too much windows open cause notify you not enough memory). I've watched videos and its pretty clear depending on the video but most turned out fine.
Last night I just found out you can actually use it as a phone by the program that it came with it called Skype. It has a dial pad and I actually called home and the phone rang (wasn't expecting it to work). Comes with answer remote controller with microphone. T
he slide function keyboard was handy and easy to work in dark areas since keys are backlighted. You have the option to touch with your stylus or use the keypad.
I bought a memory stick and easy to transfer music from computer to the Mylo using the USB cable that came with it. Built in speaker and sound quality isn't bad, comes with headphones.
Also comes with widgets and you can download some more on the sony site (to do list, calendar, calculator, IM contacts, etc.) The only games I played on it was solitaire and some memory game but the quality of the games were pretty good. I'm pretty sure there are more games you can add but haven't checked that out. Overall, I'm happy with it.
If Sony can add flash, organizer/address book, video taking ability, and a site for more cool downloads to add to the mylo such as videos, games, etc. then sony would have a winner."

What's great about it: Touch screen, faster wi-fi, bigger screen, 1.3 pixal camra What's not so great: no flash, and just a lil to think but still not that bad.
"Very cool, it has a lot of things that the 1st mylo did not have. I love that it gives you a touch screen and the brightness on it is outstanding. With a 800X480 compared to the iphone and the ipod touch with a 320X480 it gives you a very clear picture. I love it also that you can put games onto it and that if your memory card gets full you can always buy another memory card unlike the ipod touch you cant.
So very cool looking system and you will not be disipoted!!"
