What's great about it: The easy set up
What's not so great: No cables were included
"I am not a technical person, but it was very easy to put together. I have had them for a week now and just love them. They are set up in my bedroom and it is so wonderful. I played a Music CD yesterday as I was cleaning my room and it sounded so nice. They are wonderful!!!"

not sure what I am doing wrong

"I'll update my review of this later, but for now...
I use these as part of a full 7.1 surround-sound system. I cannot get them to broadcast audio from the satellite box or from the BluRay player when run through a high-end receiver that does not have pre-outs, only the screwdown, bare-wire types. They'll only work when I switch the red/white connectors directly from the back of each box to the transmitter. I have a 2-switch Line-out to RCA adapter, as someone else had mentioned on this review list, but still cannot get it to fly. Its a pain to manually have to get up and unplug the connectors from the back of the satellite box and move them to the BD player or vice versa. The video feeds come through fine. I don't know what I am doing wrong.
Until I get them to work full-time, I cannot fully complete this review."

Excellent product for the purpose

What's great about it: Easy set up, works well.
"Bought these as a Christmas gift for my parents; they don't hear as well as they used to, their TV is in a large room, and they sit on opposite sides of the room. Now, each has a speaker that they can adjust to their own comfort level. Since Christmas, at least, this has worked very well for them."

Easy to setup, but no volume

What's great about it: Easy to set up
What's not so great: It's quiet.
"These rocketfish speakers couldn't be easier to set up. Just plug everything in and voila, they work. No complaints there.
My complaints are about the volume of the speakers. Even turned all the way up, they're just not that loud. They have to be turned up all the way just to be heard, and if you go to the other side of the room, you can barely hear them.
It seems like the challenging part of making wireless speakers would be the wireless part. Rocketfish has the wireless part taken care of, but the speaker part isn't that great."

Quit working after 60 days

What's great about it: Easy to hook up and sync, great range
What's not so great: quit working after 60 days
"Bought these to listen to music from Ipod. If that's what you want you need a 3.5mm to RCA cable. I just wanted something for background music at low volumes all over my house, so the fact that bass response was poor didn't bother me (I've got my home theatre if I want loud). Easy to set up. Worked 50' from sending unit through walls. I was very pleased until one of the speakers started popping and cracking, and then quit working. Never heard of Rocket Fish so when I bought them I really considered getting the extended warranty from Best Buy...didn't...now I wish I had."

What's great about it: Very easy to set up & use. Sound is great
What's not so great: Haven't had it long enough to comment
"This was bought to replace an older RCA 900HZ speaker. What a difference 2.4 GH makes. The sound is great, sure & steady. It's just what I need for listening to TV (I have a hearing problem).
However, I've only had them for a few hours. Time will tell!"

What's not so great: One speaker kept fading or didn't work at all
"Bought to use on outdoor deck. Sounded great the first weekend, but then had issues with fade out and one speaker not working at all. Finally just returned them for a full refund versus trying another set."

Great speakers
07/12/2009
By LPavelko

What's great about it: Clear and strong
What's not so great: Nothing so far
"I bought these for my elderly, hard-of-hearing MIL to make it easier for her to hear the TV without blasting out the rest of us. I positioned them on either side of her chair within easy reach so she can adjust the speaker volume without fumbling with the TV remote or getting up. Worked like a charm! Other reviewers had warned me that I needed to buy the RCA cable, so set-up was quick and easy. Now she can enjoy watching TV where before it was difficult for her. The speakers work independently of the TV volume, so she can set the TV low and just turn up the speakers. If her phone rings, she can just reach over and turn the speakers down or off to talk on the phone without trying to see the volume button on the remote. I bought another pair to use as rear sound with my HDTV, and a third pair for the bedroom so I can watch TV late at night without disturbing my husband. He can turn his speaker off and I can switch mine to "Mono" and hear without keeping him awake. Great solution to many sound problems!"

Rocketfish wireless speakers

By goldcountrygal

What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: Junk
"I had these 2 speakers placed far apart in my downstairs so I could hear my music all throughout the house. I was happy with these up until day 30 when these speakers started acting defective, speakers made crackling noises, sound would go off then come back on, returned for a full refund! Keep original box and all the packaging if you want the store to take them back while under warranty!"

What's great about it: You can either use the adapters or the batteries, easy set up
What's not so great: cables not included
"easy set up, only had to go to radio shack to get the rga cable needed to connect to the computer. The sound of these speakers are great. The portabiity is fantastic. Great for the price. I have an RCA pair that can't compare to these. I would definitely recommend these to anyne wanting more sound with little fuss."

Great Price for Wireless Sound System!

What's great about it: Wireless, Wireless, Wireless
What's not so great: RCA cable is not included!
"I was looking for a wireless system for my HDTV; purchased these and did not regret it; I had a 10% off coupon to use on them and could not be happier. The sound is simply stunning no interference adds the kick I was looking for to complement my TV. I did not want wires hanging out of it since I have it in my room. Sound brings shows and movies to life, would recommend it to anyone! It is very easy to use just hook it up to your left and right audio speaker from TV to the transmitter using the RCA cable (red/white), and then turn on the receiver’s, the transmitter should automatically pick-up the receiver’s. This unit did not come with a RCA cable so you will have to pick one up; this is the only problem with it the unit, the RCA cables is not included!"

Perfect solution for boosting TV audio
05/03/2009
By JDL2009

|
What's great about it: Easy to set up, clear & crisp sound
What's not so great: Not a thing
"I believe the person who gave this product a "poor" rating had the same problem that I had initially. I could barely hear the sound out of the speakers even when I had the volume turned up all of the way. I bought these to use with my parent's television and discovered that there was a setting on their Sony TV that needed to be switched in order for the speakers to work correctly. I just went into the sound menu and switched it from "variable" to "fixed". After I did that, the sound was fantastic! Primary use for these is for my elderly dad who is losing his hearing and instead of having the tv cranked up, he is able to have the speaker on a table next to his chair and hear the sound very clearly. Great size for that purpose."

Great Speakers for Use with TV/DVD Combo Unit
05/01/2009
By Michael3
from Crofton, MD
|
What's great about it: Easy Setup
What's not so great: Purchase did not include the RCA Audio Cable (Red/White)
"I purchased a 26" TV/DVD combo unit a year ago from Best Buy. Unfortunately, the sound quality is not very good when watching a DVD movie. Increasing the sound volume simply distorts the audio with my wife and I constantly stating: "What did they say?" Two days ago I purchased the RF-WS01 model and found it was easy to set up once I realized that the RCA Audio Cable was not included in the box. The sound quality is now much better as each speaker is sitting on a table adjacent to our lounge chairs. The units act independently of the TV's speakers and the volume is easily controlled by each viewer. I would certainly recommend the wireless speakers."

Great speakers and I was cautious about wireless

What's great about it: Strong sound, very easy to set up with right receiver,
What's not so great: Nothing so far
"I bought these for my bedroom and I'm using Directv receiver as source. The music channels come through loud and clear. My distance is approx 40 feet, with my PC and wireless modem between the 2 locations. No interference at all. I believe getting the 2.4 GHz vs the 900 MHz made a difference. I originally bought a pair of 900 Mhz and had major issues. I had to return that set. It uses RCA jacks to connect, no option for speaker wire. I mention this if you are planning on using them as rear surround speakers. You'll need to find way to connect the transmitter to speaker output. I'm very pleased with the performance and it's a great value too."

now can hear tv without blasting the volume

What's great about it: can hear tv dialogue in a large room, without blasting tv volume
What's not so great: drops sound, but comes back quickly. only a couple of seconds are missed, doesn't happen that often
"I have a large open living room, kitchen area. when sitting in the area with couches, chairs etc.. the tv has to be very loud in order to hear it. stereo was to loud just to hear tv. All my husband heard was please turn that down! I have one speaker right by his chair and he can hear the tv without blasting out the rest of the room. I have the other near my computer area. You can still turn the volume up and down on the tv with out affecting the volume on the rocketfish speakers they are controled independently. It is the perfect solution to hear tv dialogue with out driving everyone else crazy! I'm going to check and see if I can get one more for the kitchen area!"

Great speakers, great price

What's great about it: Easy to hook-up, easy to use
What's not so great: Need line-in to RCA adapter to hook up to receiver
"Great sound! I'm using as my rear surround speakers. Don't need to run any wires other than that each speaker has to be plugged into an outlet for power. They can also be battery powered but each speaker takes 8 C type batteries and I'm sure wouldn't last too long. The only issue I had was that my receiver only has line-out hook-ups for the speakers (basically the stripped speaker wires are inserted directly into the receiver ports. The transmitter for the wireless speakers only has an RCA hook-up, so I had to purchase a Line-out (in) to RCA converter for $20 to hook the transmitter to the back of the receiver. All-in-all, they work great! The sound is clean and strong. Very happy with them."
