What's great about it: Everything
What's not so great: Nothing
"sounds tight in my tacoma, would recommend it to anyone and my ipod stops playing when i turn off my truck and keeps charging so when i disconnect it is all the way charged unlike the person who says his ipod dies cause it keeps playing. but anyways buy this its clean looking and has all the features you need."

What's great about it: Sound quality, clear & bright display, iPod feature.
What's not so great: The section where you connect the face to the hinge of the unit feels weak & cheap.
"My stock CD deck in my car died after 8 years & I wanted a deck that would sound good & also allow me to connect an iPod. I looked long and hard, and in the end I chose this Alpine CDA-9884. The price was good for an Alpine which offered all the options I was looking for. The design of this CD deck looks nice & the display is bright & clear. The use of red & blue lights add style many other brands don't have. Alpine is known for sound quality & this deck delivers. My car has a premium 6 speaker system that rivals most stock high end systems out there. I was only expecting this Alpine to sound as good as the original stock system, but to my delight it sounded better. The bass sounded fuller & the highs were more clean & clear than my stock deck. The ease of controlling my iPod through this deck is top notch, it's very easy to use. There was only one thing I didn't like about this product. The hinge where you connect the face to the main unit feels weak & cheap. The plastic in that hinge area when the face is down isn't sturdy at all. My fear is that part might break if you use the CD often. Over all this is a great product. I'm very happy with this Alpine CD deck & I'm sure you will be too."

"Bought an Alpine stereo few days and putting in myself. I got said I am very happy with the sound and quality of this head unit. I had sony stereo before this, i got said that the performance of the Alpine stereo over the sony way over the top with the sound. I strongly recomend this Head unit."

What's great about it: Awesome Sound, from the CD, iPod, XM Satellite Radio and the AM/FM Radio Tuner
What's not so great: None At All
"This is my first Alpine product ever, plays any type of music you love without a problem. I so happy with this unit that I need to save up for the HD Radio Tuner and have the complete package that this unit will give you. Also you are going to have to spend some time to read the Owner's Manual at one item at a time to learn what this bad boy/girl unit can do, trust me you will be proud that you did."

What's great about it: clear,crisp sound
What's not so great: no remote
"We installed this unit in our semi truck and really love the sound but are disappointed there is no remote control. When we aren't driving we listen from the sleeper area and can't control the radio's functions from that area. Having a hard time finding a remote for it. Best Buy says to order from Alpine's web site but there isn't an option to purchase anything from that site. Still a great choice in car stereos."

What's great about it: Works great and Ipod cable runs to the glove box so there are no wires hanging out all over
What's not so great: Does not shut off Ipod when car turns off, but really not a big deal
"I had another Alpine deck but it was stolen. This deck did not come with a remote, but my old remote works fine with it. I would recommend this deck to anyone. It works great and I've never had any problems with Alpine decks. I also had it installed in store and the service was outstanding!"

Nothing like an Alpine

What's great about it: Great sound , Easy to install
What's not so great: Acessories are very expensive
"Back in the day , when I was a young man (the 80's) , I bought my first sports car (300ZX turbo) and prompty put in a $1200 all-alpine-stereo. Great sound. Great highs and lots of bass. Fast forward 20 years andIi'm no longer a yound man and I've had 2 Lexus automobiles so I expect great sound in my automobile. I recently bought an old RAV 4 and was disappointed in the Toyota factory unit. I purchased a Kenwood unit because it had the HD tuner built-in. I installled the Kenwood unit and though it wasn't bad, it just didn't have the same pop as the unit in my old sports car from back in the day. I took the Kenwood back and bought this Alpine. What a difference in sound quality. There's a clarity and energy level in the ALpine that wasn't there in the Kenwood. I highly recommend this unit."

Excellent Service Plan exchange

What's great about it: Great Sound, colors match dashboard lights!
What's not so great: have to learn new buttons
"chose this unit as a service plan exchange from my current model CDE-9881. I'm a little bummed that I have to learn the new button placements, but I'm just glad I have a new stereo :)
I suggest getting the service/replacement plan. My previous unit had a faulty faceplate and was a discontinued so they just took out the old unit, and installed the new one in less than 30 minutes! well worth the cost!"

What's great about it: ipod cable included, easy to use...sounds awesome...
What's not so great: installation was difficult, no remote. wiring harness didn't line up with my subaru harness
"head unit is great, the sound it amazing. I opted to install myself because i've taken on tasks as this before, but i ran into some difficulties, so i had best buy troubleshoot it for me, after pulling off the dash the tech saw it immediately, told me he had to rewire harness with a new harness. bottom line...save $20 dollars if you run into any issues with doing it yourself and just have them reinstall it. instead of troubleshooting at $20 for 15 min and then the $50 for the install. Jim did a great job with the install."

"The best deck ive ever baught! The full speed ipod works great and you can see the song name and folder threw your deck off ipod. and it charges your ipod.
works great i have not found anything that i dont like about it! has more things then a average car guys needs!
It will also run all your amps and also has sub controlls built in..."

"I have terrible luck when buying electronics. THe first deck i got of this model there was a defect. I couldnt turn the volume past 15 without the unit resetting. When i got the second unit everything worked as it should. IT sounds great. THe ipod cable comes with it. Easy to use and navigate. Bravo!!"

What's great about it: Great sound, Quick Mute option, IPod compatible, had everything the factory radio had and more.
What's not so great: IPod doesn't turn off when the deck or car is turned off, really small buttons.
"I had this installed in my 1999 Toyota Camry and it is the best investment I have ever made. I had Best Buy install it and it only took 30 minutes!
I couldn't find the cd player for five minutes though, I didn't realize that the faceplate folded down to reveal it.
Definately better than the factory radio and I have more control over how much bass, treble, and subwoofer output is emitted.
low price, yet great quality sound! What else could you ask for?!"

What's great about it: ipod cable included
What's not so great: doesn't shut off ipod with radio
"Tuner works great on both am and fm after installing an amplified antenna but ipod is losing connectivity sporadicly. The ipod also stays playing unless paused before shutdown or disconnected from cable. This causes the battery to completely discharge leaving a dead ipod. My old alpine didn't have this problem. This was a replacement for a failed alpine cda-9856. This is no where near the quality of unit it replaced. I would recommend stepping up to a higher end unit."

What's not so great: no cons, this is an awesome CD player
"This is by far the best in dash CD player that I have ever owned. I have never had any problems with it, and it looks great in my 2001 Honda Civic. It boosted my cars power and made my factory speakers sound better than they ever did with the factory radio. This unit produces great bass as well. Go get one, you wont be sorry you did, with Alpine."
