What's great about it: Cheap Price
What's not so great: HP Won't Stand Behind Their Products

"In Oct. 2007 bought the cheaper HP Office Jet J5780 All in One, so this is not a review of the wireless product shown. But the company's track record with me is zero - unreliable.
There were problems at the outset. The online service stretches out the time, suggesting new drivers and other fixes, until your warranty runs out.
So I have problems scanning (for which they downloaded me a replacement driver) and even getting the print on both sides feature to work, because, the selling store advised, it probably has a "faulty parts issue".
After going rounds with a live tech on telephone I was offered an upgrade to a newer machine, only their machine they need to access to get the cost for me was not working. They said they'd call back - they didn't. My advice: stay away from HP."

What's not so great: It would have been a perfect buy if the price will be lowered and much more affordable

What's great about it: Promises plenty
What's not so great: Doesn't deliver on any of it

"I have never been motivated to write a review before, but I just lost a whole day of production trying to get this all-in-one to work properly. I am fairly savvy with computers, so the problems run deeper than the usual "is it plugged in correctly" issues. I read all the positive reviews and selected this product for it's brand name, price, and overall perceived value. Problems started as soon as I got it set up. I networked the unit through the ethernet connection, so there was no possibility for wireless issues. First, the software suite is huge and bloated-way more than what I needed or wanted. It loaded three desktop icons to: a solutions center, a photo editing program, and a third I don't rememeber. Nothing about the interface is intuitive and several times I would click a "settings" button and it would give me an error and completely fail to even open. I got the printer to work, but the scanner and fax both failed to operate. I could receive faxes, but when I tried to send a fax, it would ring once and then shut down the phone connection, while still sending the connection ping. I was actually willing to live with not being able to send faxes if I could just scan items and then email them. But I could not get the scanner to work either. When I pressed the scan button on the "HP Solutions Center" I got an error message that my computer was not connected to the unit. When I checked the connection status, however, it told me that it was connected and showed a big green check mark to prove it. Two phone calls to HP customer support proved fruitless. I updated the drivers, tried to operate some of the features from the unit itself and ran into problem after problem all day long. Finally, I packed it back up. I don't know what I'm going to exchange it for, but anything will be better than this. I will never buy an HP again. Total waste of my time. Last comment: the one part that did work was the printer and the print quality was fine, however, it was about 4 times slower than my 6 year old Lexmark at home. I didn't replace that with this one, which was for work, but I was really stunned that a new model HP printer would underperform an older, cheaper brand printer."

"I used this printer for 3month now.
overall it is very nice printer
good quality
I didn't try print picture yet
WIFI features very nice...I have five computer and all computer connect to this printer and works fine...
but sometime WIFI not working I have to restart the software to work.
only complain i have is noise of the printer and printing speed.
Price is very reasonable when this printer on sale + when you buy laptop or desktop computer another $70 off...very good deal...
it is very good printer for home office use."

What's great about it: Does pretty much everything, inexpensive
What's not so great: Text could be slightly sharper

"This printer is the best I have owned. It replaced my old HP Deskjet 960, and my Canon scanner. It prints quickly, and overall the quality is very solid. The scanning quality is comparable to any other flatbed scanner I have used in the past, and the photocopier function works well with the paper feeder and the flatbed. The duplexer is what really convinced me to get this printer over several other comparable printers in the same price range. It works beautifully, though it does slow down print times for multipage documents because the ink has to dry after it prints the first side before it prints the second. The only weakness with this printer is that the text could be a bit sharper. I suppose it is unfair to use this as a comparison, but it cannot stand up to the sharpness of the laser printers I use in the lab on a daily basis. However, I do not think any inkjet printer can claim to do that. So if you are looking for a versatile printing device that can do color and duplexing for less than $250 dollars, this printer is the way to go."

What's great about it: Great Quality, Features and Overall Performance
What's not so great: Wireless was difficult to set up; price fluctuates

"This was the first printer I purchased for our family. I was specifically looking for an all-in-one that was wireless. The print quality and speed on this printer is fantastic. I have not yet used the fax machine or scanner. Pages print quickly in both Black/White and Color.

I had a difficult time setting up the wireless feature. This was the primary reason I purchased this printer. It took me a couple nights to get it working properly. I'm not sure if it was the printer, my router, or both. I've had trouble connecting other peripherals to my router in the past.

Aside from the wireless setup, I have been extremely happy with this purchase. You can't go wrong with HP."

"This is my second HP All-in-one (I upgraded for a wireless), I have been very satisfied with with both hp's. Set up was very easy even though I didnt do a complete install- (it would have downloaded alot of uneeded software on suggested installation). I had no problems at all setting up a wireless connection like several other reviews had stated."

What's great about it: quality, it worked 1st time, solid construction
What's not so great: setup software failed on laptop in advanced mode

"This is my 2nd HP AIO. The installation was quick for my PC via USB cable. Next, for my laptop, the HP installation software quit (error) twice when I selected the advanced user option. When I selected the quick install option, it loaded successfully. I had to connect the USB cable to my laptop to find the wireless signal. After installation, my laptop and PC are successfully printing."

What's not so great: uses tons of ink!! and wireless works when it wants too...

"Love this printer, wish my old printer could have been replaced with what I had. I'd rather have my All-In-One Kodak then this one. This HP eats up the ink, and the ink is expensive!!!! wont buy another one of these again, waiting for the newest model of all-in-one kodak to come out! So far cost of ink is almost the total for cost of machine, and I have only made maybe 40 copies, no photo printing yet......"

What's not so great: Having a problem with HP customer service

"I purchased a HP J6480 all-in-one three weeks ago. Had a problem getting it installed from the beginning. I spent about 3 hours on the phone with an HP tech on Saturday August 30, 2008. He stated that he would have a level 3 tech call me on Monday September 1. I have been able to get some of the features working myself, however I still have not received a return call from HP."
