Wish I had read reviews before I bought these...

What's great about it: sounded good at first
What's not so great: died after 3 months
"Bought these for the gym, and sounded good at first. Ear clips hold them on, even though they constantly slip out of my ear while running, regardless of which size cushion I put on. Then they stopped working one ear at a time...think they stopped working due to sweat. Can hardly hear out of them now, and was just on line seeking waterproof or sweatproof this time. I assumed these were since they were "sports" headphones. I hate to have wasted $40 on these and now have to buy more. Should have read the reviews before I purchased them! My bad!"

Great Comfort, Poor Sound

What's great about it: BY FAR AND AWAY THE MOST COMFORTABLE HEADPHONES I'VE EVER HAD.
What's not so great: Sound quality is just slightly better than terrible
"I have small ears and with the different ear pieces and different ear brackets they are so comfortable and stay in no matter what you're doing.
The sound is awful! Eventhough they are in your ear they sound like your listening to headphones 2 feet away from your ear. I expected much better from Sony.
Despite the great comfort, I would not recommend these."

What's great about it: good price, comfortable, great sound
What's not so great: Stops working after a couple months
"I bought these even after reading the reviews that they stop working after a short time. I like SONY products and have typically had good luck with them. When I first got them, I thought they were great. I liked the over the ear design and the sound was great. I took them to the gym all the time. Well, in the middle of one of my workouts the right earbud stopped working. Nothing could get it started again. For the price, its not worth getting them fixed, so I will be a different more expensive and dependable set."

Terrible Headphones! Do Not Buy

What's great about it: Sounds good, comfortable
What's not so great: You will need to replace them every 30-60 days
"I absolutely loved these headphones. I have very small ears and normally headphones hurt me because they're too big or never stay in properly. When I purchased these expensive headphones and used them for the first time, I was so impressed with them! Shortly after that they suddenly stopped working. First the left ear went silent...then the right....I constantly kept replacing them. It's just not worth the hassle. You will love them at first because they're great but trust me, they will fail you when you least expect it and you will be quite upset. I've had them break at work while sitting down, I've had them break while bowling, and I've had them break while transporting them in my purse. They don't break because you're too rough with them....they break because SONY didn't do their job with creating a durable (active) product."

What's great about it: Very comfortable, nice for working out
What's not so great: Lasted 5 months. Sound quality is pretty low
"If you are looking for some headphones to workout with these do the job. The problem with these is that all of the sudden stopped working. I've owned a lot of headphones and these severely underperformed for the money. If you've got 40 bucks, buy a different product."

What's great about it: Nothing
What's not so great: Stopped working after 4 months and now it would cost $24 to repair, total garbage
"Got these as a gift because I liked they had 3 ear size options. They stopped working after 4 months and now would cost $24 to repair through Sony. WORST PAIR OF SONY HEADPHONES EVER!"

What's great about it: Stay in your ear, different sizes are a great option
What's not so great: Sound isn't great
"I haven't had these very long so I don't know how well they hold up, however, the short time I've had them I have been satisfied. They stay in your ears no matter how much bouncing you do. The sound isn't great but they're loud enough to hear while working out."

What's great about it: At first they seem really good
What's not so great: They die after 3 or 4 weeeks of use
"i have purchased several of these headphones. i had a replacement plan at another store that went bankrupt not very long ago. every other month i was at the store exchanging the headphones for a new pair. they always seemed to have just one left in stock. anyways, these headphones go bad after about 3 or 4 weeks of constant use. i use them for jogging, so maybe they can't take the heat."

What's great about it: They actually stay in
What's not so great: Price
"I bought these in a desperate attempt to find ear buds that wouldn't' kill my ears. Most wrap around hurt and cut up my ears, and buds fall out. So I bought these in hope for something that would work. When I got home, and found that there are 3 styles of bands, and ear bud covers. I was impressed. I got them the smallest covers, and largest band to work perfectly. I haven't had a problem in sound, staying on, and such. Oh and the fact that its a split cord helps in exercise, and on computer uses."

Terrible Sound Quality

What's great about it: The fit, says in ear while working out
What's not so great: Sound quality is horrible
"I bought these today, eager to try them out at the gym, happy that I finally have earphones that won't fallout while I'm working out. Plus with the cost and the fact that it's a Sony, I figured the sound would be great. Boy was I wrong. They did nothing to drown out surronding noise, and I couldn't turn up the volume past a certain point or the sound would be too distorted. No base, no clarity, no definition. These are worse than the earphones that came with my mp3 player. I'll be taking these back tomorrow."

What's great about it: Sound and Durability
"These headphones are the best, by far, that I have ever used since running alone required music (in 1993). I've used ear buds and they would pop out on a whim, this product stays put and the sound has been the best yet."

What's great about it: terrible sound
What's not so great: no bass, too high of pitch
"My original ipod earbuds sounded great but fell out during workouts. These barely stay in any better and sound terrible. I cannot believe they keep this junk on the market. You have to turn it up too loud to hear through the bad quality and it hurts your ear drums from the high pitch."

Just. Plain. Bad.

What's great about it: Style/aesthetics
What's not so great: Fit and sound.
"Stay away from this Sony product. Marketed as earbuds for "active" lifestyle. Turns, out, their definition of active must be constrained to those that "Actively" sit on the couch playing video games. No combination of ear bud or hanger sizes resulted in anything that stayed in my ear for more than 10 seconds at a time, especially when there is the slightest presence of sweat. The sound is rather tinny as well and only improves when you are able to jam the ear bud into your ear canal. The extension cord and clip are nice, although the clip falls off rather easily. All around poor entrant from Sony, I expected much better."

Choose something else if you want it to last
03/31/2009

What's great about it: Okay sound, two cord options
What's not so great: Product life, hard to fit if use over the ear
"I wanted a new set of headphones to use with my Ipod. I'm not sure if my ears are hard to fit or what the problem is but I always have preferred headphones that have the option to clip over the ear instead of just in the ear. For me they just feel more secure and I figured with three sets of in the ear pieces and three sets of ear clips I would be able to get a secure fit. These just don't ever seem secure once I've had them in for longer than a few minutes. I use my Ipod when I'm walking around town and I know I have inserted them properly and I've tried all of the options. I've lived with just pushing them back into my ear when they seem to come loose because it was just annoying but something that I could deal with. However, I have now had two sets of these where after about 6 weeks the first time around and now about 3 months the second time, the left earpiece sound volume has deteriorated to a point where it's much lower than the right earpiece. So now I'm left with another defective set which isn't worth sending to Sony for replacement since they will charge as much as a new set will cost. There is obviously a defect in the product since the same thing happened to both sets. I'm careful with them so I know it isn't user caused. Buyer Beware! Choose something else."

What's great about it: comfort, fit
What's not so great: changing out ear clips
"So far these have been very good. The only drawback is a little time to clip on ear clips. As far as sound they are great. I noticed that by changing to the larger earpiece, the bass increased which was nice. Earlier reviewer said there is not much bass but I don't find that to be true since I changed to the larger piece. Very snug and lightweight, extra cord length is nice addition."

What's great about it: They fit around the ear really well. The sound is really good too.
What's not so great: Have not found anything that stands out.
"I am a person who really likes good sound quality. I was hesitant when I bought these because they were only $40. But when I put the in and listened to them, I really enjoyed the way they sound. Some people complain about no bass, but it is all in your equalizer of whatever device you are using. You have to set your equalizer the way you want before you will achieve the sound you want. These headphones will reach it. Not as well as a $200 pair, but these get the job done well."

What's great about it: Adjustments
What's not so great: Broke after 5 months
"I bought these about 5 months ago and they were great for working out with until one day when the left earbud stopped working. They are advertised for being good to use while working out and that's exactly what I did and they quit on me. I wouldn't recommend these to anyone. If you are looking for inear headphones to workout in, go cheap. Personally, I'm going with cheap workout headphones and I'm going to drop some serious money on some monster beats by dr dre. My friend just got them and they are really sweet. Hope this helped out."

What's great about it: great for running and working out. never fell out of my ears, ever.
What's not so great: not as loud as other cheaper earphones I own. broke on me in 4 months
"I love sony, and I loved these earphones overall. I bought my set at best buy. Was overall pleased with them, until a few days ago. I do sweat quite a bit, I admit, but it has never caused earphones to fail. Well, the right side ear bud went dead a few days ago after I went running, and now I'm hosed. These things cost me $40, and now I must go find another set of earphones. i'm not thrilled."
