"Purchased this Blue Ray when it was first available. I have had no problems. It's a classy piece of equipment. I always think you get what you pay for. Of course when more are purchased the prices will come down, but I couldn't wait. I had a little trouble with the first update that needed to be installed in the unit, but finally got it updated. I used Nero. Yes, it's a little slow loading but worth the wait."

"I purchased this mainly to go with my Denon AVR 2808CI receiver. I wanted my DVD player to match my receiver. Overall, I'm happy with my purchase, but there are a few things to be desired with this player. For one, the HDMI connector is in the middle of the back of the console and interfered with my cabling system where cables are routed through a center piece to keep them hidden (I have a Sanus AV stand). The player is also very large. The worst feature for this player is the startup times. I've read that it's one of the faster players available right now, but it's definitely a lot slower than the Sony PS3. It usually takes anywhere from 30-90 seconds to boot up a Blu-Ray DVD for the previews, and another 30-60 seconds to boot up the main menu. The picture quality is great. The on-board processor provides great images with 10-bit processing. It's capable of 1080p/24fps with 36-bit color. This player does not have any analog or component video outputs -- only HDMI is available. Realize that before you purchase."

"I have played a couple of blu-ray movies and SD movies with this player, no problems. I also own a Toshiba A35 HD player and the Denons' load time is faster than the Toshiba. This player upscales standard dvds very good. I have this Blu-Ray connected with a hdmi cable to my Denon 3808ci A/V receiver and it is doing a excellent job transporting the High Definition Audio Codecs. Their is quite a diffrence in the sound from standard def to the blue-ray movies so I highly recommend this player if you have a A/V receiver that can decode the HD audio formats. It is comparable from going to a standard tv signal to a high definition station on your television there is also that much of a upgrade to the High Definition sound codecs. I highly recommend this unit if you have a good surround sound system."

"This Bu-ray player is amazing. It is one of the fastest players I have seen to date. The start up time is neer that of a PS3. It only has an HDMI out for a connection, and I would reccomend getting a high quality HDMI cable, because you will be able to tell the difference. This is one of the more expensive Blu-Ray players, but your system is only as strong as your weekest link. I feel that this Blu-Ray player is definatly worth the money."

"This is by far the best blu-ray player. This Denon has to be the quietest player I have ever heard. For those not familiar, this is a transport player. Meaning, it only sends out the information to a receiver that can decode it properly. Despite pricing, this player can bring any system alive. It is only limited by having one output (HDMI). I also bought the Denon 3808 receiver with the player. The Denon can play movies but not with TruHD if the receiver doesn't decode HD audio. With the 3808, movies such as Eragon, Hitman and Underworld show the purest colors.
The most important aspect of theses assets is the smooth picture quality without freezes and solid framework. Remember this is a excellent transport player. If you want the top shelf player, the Denon 3800 player does everything including decoding. 3800 can be used with older receivers (2 years old). The 3800 can decode and do what the receiver can't.
I am very proud of my system. Teamed with the Sony XBR5, the sound and movies play flawlessly. The build quality of Denon is better than anything on the market. If you are going to have a good Home Theater system, don't go halfway in your components. The Denon has the lastest firmware to date. Don't compromise."

What's great about it: True Dolby HD and DTS-HD Master Audio through bitstream What's not so great: Not Blu-ray 2.0 ready
"I love this player! it goes perfectly with my Denon Avr-3808 reciever. If you have a new reciever that has all the True DolbyHD and DTS-HD processors in it then this is the must have player. I will warn you that it only has HDMI out on the back and the box does not give you a HDMI cable. I does a great job with up converting standard DVD and Blu-Ray playback is amazing. This is one of the only Blu-Ray players that output all audio formats in bitstream."
